He is 31. Andrew Whitworth is older and still effective. If Williams plays 14 games...he is worth it. He already have a health concern with Humphries.

I disagree about this team needing draft picks. Draft picks are about acquiring cheap talent that is unproven. This team needs proven talent regardless of cost. The idea that we are going to suddenly hit on 80% of our draft picks next year is naive. We haven't' done it in the past. It isn't common league wide. Why would we think next year will be any different.

I am on the record saying I would trade a ton of my 2020 and 2021 picks right now for proven players as long as I can keep them under contract.

AJ Green
Trent Williams
Kenyan Drake
Jamal Adams
Emmanuel Sanders
OJ Howard
Leonard Williams

Outside of our first round pick next year, I would be open to use picks to grab up as many of these guys as possible. People will argue that this will impact our depth, but honestly, we have too many depth players. Our shortage is in starting quality players. Jamal Adams, the Thompsons, and Baker are a great 4 S corp moving forward. Alford, Peterson, Murphy, Brock and Jones is a nice 5 deep CB group. Gunter isn't bad if he doesn't have to start. The interior of our line isn't changing soon...Galliard, Cole, Pugh and Sweezy are all locked in for next year. Our WR corp is fine 2-6...the issue is a #1 guy. RB is fine and you can find them everywhere.
YOU SIR ARE DEAD ON!!!

Trading picks...I don't know but the Rams signed Andrew Whitworth to a big deal and it has worked out pretty well. Seahawks went and acquired Duane Brown to ok results. Years ago the Chiefs got Willie Roaf to solid results.

Again, with a rookie QB and looking at a rookie contract, draft and develop is almost the best way to waste those cheap years. Get ready to go talent in now, and then draft and develop later when Murray becomes more expensive.
Whitworth's signing was AMAZING for the Rams and the Bungles regret letting him leave. His is a LOCK DOWN LT....and so is Trent Williams.
Some of ya'll don't get it....and let me spell it out...All Pro Left Tackles come available one every 10 years. Teams do not let them go. If there is a way to get Trent you go do it.
Look at what Whitworth has done for the Rams. JG has time in the pocket to survey the field....KM does NOT. 1 second and he's got guys in his face.
If you need to trade a 2 and a 4 to get Trent ...GO DO IT! ...then show him a big money deal.

And how many FA signings or trades have really worked out for the Cards concerning offensive linemen? So maybe you don`t get it.

Veldheer? Maybe Pugh (grades seem better than my eye test)? Sweezy is better than Iupati (at this stage). And finally..... A case has been made that AQ has improved in the skill he needs most for this team: Pass blocking. P.s. only one bad snap this year so far. Not even sure that was his fault.

Our issue is at tackle and there seems to be an all pro out there who needs a home.

What is there not to get?

I liked Veldheer and thought he played okay and then injuries started.Pugh is still waiting to be judged,Sweezy is okay.I am leery of what happens if Cards trade for a " star tackle"...with the Cards luck the guy will tear his knee up or break a foot or some other freak injury will bite.

It has been hit and miss across the offensive line. What I will say is that you have to keep taking shots. A 2nd and a 5th this year (with a contract ext) to get a legitimate LT is worth the risk IMO. A conditional 1st in 2021 is worth it IMO. Getting him in now enables you to move Humphries to RT for the rest of the year. That determines whether you re-sign Humphries long-term.

If Trent Williams were available for a 2nd and 5th, about 15 teams would have made that trade by now. There are reports that the Redskins have turned down a first round pick because they want more, and they really don't want to to trade him at all.

FFS how many more tries does Keim get to do the one thing he is supposed to be an expert on? He needs to go before the season is over if there isn't DRASTIC improvement on the line by the time we hit the bye week. We have one of the best line coaches in the game there is not a coaching issue.

That could be the case. We don't know. One difference is that our second round pick is not far from other team's first round pick. Who, in reality, is in the market for Williams.

Jets
Bills
Browns
Jaguars
Broncos
Vikings (they do have Reiff)
Panthers (Drafted Greg Little)
Cardinals
Patriots (Wynn who they like got hurt)

Of this group, the Patriots and Browns are likely the most aggressive pursuants, but they look to be drafting later in the draft. A second rounder from the Cardinals would not be too far from where those teams expect to be drafting. It would be the same for any additional picks the Cardinals might offer.
