AZ Born and Bred!!!
I found this one on RealGM about a 4-way with the Sonics, Clippers, Nets, and Suns. I looked at the pros and cons for each team, and found that it is relatively more pro than con for all involved. But don't kill me, I'm just bringing it here to see what you all think and give my pros for the deal as for the Suns championship and longterm success.
Here's the specifics:
Clips get: Amare/Shaq/Harris/Diop (S&T)
Nets get: Brand (S&T)/Mobley
Sonics get: Swift/VanHorn/Knight
Suns get: Kaman/Maggette (S&T 4yrs/$36mil)/Wilcox/Ridnour/#10 pick from NJ
($35.071 out -- $31.75 in before draft pick for 08-09 season)
***Total team salary for Suns THIS year before re-signing Giricek and Skinner including draft #10 and #15 draft picks is $70.787 mil for 12 players under contract rather than the $70.4 mil that we are at now with only 9 players under contract)***
Clips roster: #6 pick
Harris/Dickau/Livingston
Ross
Thornton/Tim Thomas
Amare/Powell/Fazekas
Shaq/Diop/Davis
Nets roster:
Mobley/M. Williams
Carter/Ager
Jefferson/Hassell
Brand/S. Williams
Boone/Kristic
Sonics roster: #2, #24 picks
Watson/Knight
Durant/Wilkins
Green/Wilkins
Collison/S. Swift
Petro/Elson/Sene
Suns Roster: #10, #15 picks **Resign-Skinner and Giricek**
Nash/Ridnour
Bell/Barbosa/Giricek/Strawberry
Maggette/Hill/Tucker
Diaw/Wilcox
Kaman/Skinner
Use #10 pick on Russell Westbrook (6'4" 187lbs) **Future starting PG**
Use #15 pick on Jason Thompson (6'10" 245lbs) **Future starting PF/C
Trade Barbosa to Portland for a player or two along with #13 pick
Use # 13 pick on JaVale McGee (7'0" 237lbs) **Future starting PF/C
(with #13 and #15 picks, because McGee has the athleticism to play the 4/5 and Thompson has the goods to play the 3/4/5) We could draft just one of them and draft a SG or SF like Batum, Alexander or Greene instead. If we only took one big, I'd prefer McGee then at the 2/3 I'd prefer Greene)
Roster then looks like this for 2008/2009:
Nash/Ridnour/Westbrook
Bell/Giricek/Strawberry
Maggette/Hill/Tucker
Diaw/Wilcox/Thompson
Kaman/Skinner/McGee
Contract Roster for 2009/2010: Team Options on Nash and Tucker
Westbrook/Rinour (last year)
Maggette/Bell (last year)
Diaw
Thompson
Kaman/McGee
The Sun become a better defensive and rebounding team. We upgarade at center with Kaman over Shaq. We downgrade offensively at PF, but are about equal defensively and rebounding wise with Wilcox. We upgrade rebounding and scoring wise at SF in Maggette and just as good defensively as Hill. We also upgrade at back-up PG and overall depth and effectiveness in our bench.
But, like I said, it would be tempting looking at the trade overall, if it makes us better defensively and rebounding wise, without losing scoring. It would suck to lose Amare, but......I think this trade would make us a better team suited for a long-term championship run.
