IDK if Smith is coming back next or not...and I doubt he's going to command a whole lot of money. I don't think Colin will be ready by next year and I hate his throwing motion.
If smith doesn't come back, the speculation is that the 49ers will go after another QB that Harbaugh coached..Josh Johnson.

I'm not trying to take nothing away from the 49ers because wins are hard to come by. But I think they are overrated. Good teams like Ravens and Steelers are going to bring them down to reality. I actually hope they have a good record Cuz that mmeans extension for Smith.
Um, this "good" Ravens team you speak of has losses against Tennessee and Jacksonville and barely beat us at home. I'm not saying they're not good, I'm saying you're overrating them in the same manner you're trying to tone down the success of the 49ers. In other words, you're not being very objective.

The same team that beat the Steelers. I just want the 49ers to beat a quality team, for me to buy into it. Lions and Bengals don't cut it to make me beieve this team is better than what there record says.

Itll be interesting to see if Smith can step up when the team actually needs him to make big plays. So far he had done a great job of limiting his mistakes and allowing the running game and defense to do the heavy lifting.

During their winning drive against the Eagles in the 4th they got 13 yards passing, 15 yards on a penalty (on a rushing play), and 52 yards rushing. That was on a 4th QTR drive with under 5 minutes to go trailing by 6. That either shows a tremendous faith in the ground game or a real distrust in their passing game.

They are 30th in the league in passing yards per game. In today's NFL at some point their passing game is going to have to win a game for them, and based on his career I really doubt Smith is going to be able to do it.

For quite a few years all I remember hearing was that their defensive front seven and o-line were old or untalented. Singletary came in and along with the front office, seemed to focus on improving those areas.

They have a QB who is not overly talented and is in a new system (sound familiar?). And WR's who are not very good but they and the QB have time to work together. They also have a very consistent run game. Why is all this suddenly the case in San Fran? Because they focused on improving their o-line.

As far as defense goes, I don't see a ton of talent in their secondary but their front seven is very good. Look at their recent draft and free-agent pickups. Not all of them panned out but they focused on being solid up front and now they a reaping the benefits.

I dislike the 49ers almost as much as the most hated Steelers but...the Cardinals should be taking notes.

they're a solid ball club. i don't think anyone can really argue that with any level of coherence. they're undefeated on the road (impressive no matter who you play), have beaten two 6-2 teams on the road, are winning games by an average margin of 12 ppg (which is ridiculously impressive no matter who you play) and haven't even started their schedule against the dregs of our division.

I still think they probably lose to the Saints in the second round of the playoffs, but you just can't blow off a team that's winning games by an average margin of 26 to 15, can play great defense and can win on the road.

oh, and as to the "who have they played argument"... can anyone tell me who besides the Saints the Packers have played this year? yeah... no one of consequences. that's the only team with a winning record they've faced.

i hate it, but the Niners are the class of the division and one of the better teams in the NFC right now. this G-men will tell a much bigger story this weekend if they can actually win that second round home game they look like they're destined for.

The truth hurts...

Dittos. The Niners play D & will be in EVERY game. Wouldn't be surprised to see them beat GB & go to the SB. Now, long term, not so sure. Harbaugh is a nut job (albeit, a bright one), but winning keeps everyone on board. I still think he'll eventually burn this team out. We can only hope!!!

Their D is very good but their offense is extremely 1 dimensional. They are winning right now because Alex Smith isn't being forced to win games for them. I don't see that being the case all the way through the playoffs.

Didn't they say this about us in 2008?

Beating that disgusting team atleast once would make this season a success in my opinion.

If all we got were 3 more wins and it came vs San Fran (x2) and the Cowboys then I would give the entire season a "B".
