They're totally different of course. Jake was actually a QB just one with some limitations that it turned out hindered his career save a couple of really good years in Denver playing for the same guy that made RG3 look like a future HOFer his rookie year. I'm not really convinced Thomas is a QB and apparently neither were several NFL teams that had him on their boards as a TE according to some published reports.

I think one of my concerns with Thomas is that we're going to waste 2-3 years and then decide yeah he's not a QB and convert him to TE. By then he'll be a 25-26 year old trying to convert to TE where right now he'd be a 22-23 year old trying to do that.

I suspect he's big enough and athletic enough they could play him on Special teams so we won't have to expose him to other teams while converting him to TE.

But he may in fact be that rare guy who wasn't very good in college, seemed to get worse not better, but finally gets in the right system with the right coach and the light goes on.

I worry about that too. I'm hoping that our QB brain trust will come to a quick decision on his future. It might take two or three years for him to start looking like an NFL QB but hopefully they'll know before this next season ends whether it's worth the gamble. We need a QBOF. It doesn't have to happen this year but starting the search all over again in three years is a scary prospect.

Who is the QB guru?

Then or now? Or are you just continuing the question about whether Arians and Moore really are QB experts? The Plummer buy-in came from that guy who turned Virgil Whatshisname into an almost star.

Russ, I guess you won't listen then. Haha.

To what, you keep tossing out the names of QB's that IMO aren't really comparable to LT. The vast majority of them were clearly better college QB's.

I'm waiting for you to throw out Randall Cunningham and suggest we should teach Thomas how to punt too.

For a big athletic guy his rushing stats are remarkably unimpressive. So the people that like him because he's mobile are missing that at least so far his mobility hasn't helped him.

QB is one of the rare positions in the NFL where being a great athlete isn't necessarily a huge advantage. Many really good QB's aren't close to the kind of athlete Thomas is, in fact.

Now at TE, yeah I'm excited I think he has a chance to be a really good TE.

Matthew Stafford. 57.1. Below 55% for two years, and not because he went 7/12 like LT his rookie year, Mr. Russ Smith.

I was confused by your post and don't know what QB guru you were referring to. Is it George Whitfield, the guy Thomas worked out with?

Let's mix the stat pot up some more... I give you Joe Theismann who had an average completion ration of 57% in college and TD to Int ration of 31 to 35 :D

can we not call logan LT? there is only one LT.

And there was only one "The Snake" until Jake came along. I never used Jake's nickname because Stabler owned that name IMO and the same is true with LT.

Actually 2.

Lawrence Taylor

Ladanian Tomlinson ( I know I spelled that wrong)

Hopefully Logan will be Longone

Long One? Or Long Gone? Okay, I know which one you meant but Long One wouldn't be a bad nickname if the lights came on for him.

and will finish the stat meal with Dan Fouts who over his 15 year professional career had a completion average of 58.8 with some early on that would have ended his pro dream if he was playing in the impatient league of today with his first three seasons having a completion ration of 44, 48, 54 till he posted a respectable 57 his fourth season haha. I think it is safe to say that some big armed QBs push the ball down the field more and those passes have a lower percentage of being completed :)

A quote;

When the season starts, Carson Palmer will be a couple of months away from his 35th birthday. While there are certainly older starting quarterbacks, they’re also significantly better.

Palmer’s performance over the last few years—and even throughout his career—has been showered with poor decisions. Even his decision to retire rather than play for the Bengals (who are now one of the most talented teams in the league) could be considered a poor choice.

In 2013, Palmer threw 22 interceptions and had a passer rating of 83.9. It’s safe to assume his days of being able to elevate this team rather than hinder it are long over.

The Cards drafted a project QB in Logan Thomas this year, but he is years from being ready—if he's ever ready. Unfortunately, Arizona will live and, more likely, die by the arm of Carson Palmer.

Yep he and Stafford are damn near identical. If I remember correctly several NFL teams were contemplating putting Stafford at TE.

Eventually someone will bring up YA Tittle and Jim Thorpe if we go on long enough.

Maybe we can work Pie Traynor into it somehow since Denny Green liked pie.
