Jeff Tedford would spray him with a hose. The ball is much lower than Tedford wants.

It's a fourth round pick which is the first round you can take a project in and if it fails it's not really a big deal.
The bigger deal is that we have again put all our eggs in the Carson basket, that's a pretty big deal.
Disagree. That is far too broad a statement. Multiple reports say he's got a high football acumen. Which mental aspects specifically do you mean?
It's actually more than that because right now he is the QBOF. If they wait 2-3 and then decide he's not a QB, or not THE QB, now what, Carson is probably done and you have no QBOF.
If Carson is 3 years younger this pick is more easy to defend IMO.
Oh no, I strongly disagree with that statement.
He's the maybe qbof. He is NOT the qbof. He's a risky project with massive upside. They will see what he can do in 1 season of coaching, and if they don't see progress with him they will draft a QBOF in next year's draft (much better class) or if they do have progress they will continue to mold him and make or break the decision in the following season's draft.
This is actually the best route, because it keeps the team focused on winning, and not handwringing over the QB because Carson can win us games, and lots of them...especially if we give him time in the pocket.
I'm so paranoid about this guy and his mechanics due to his inaccuracy that I cannot help think all kinds of stupid thoughts like... in a similar photo they show Carson throwing the ball and his left arm extended, why is Logan's left arm bent like that lol

We know Stanton isn't and Palmer isn't so right now the only guy who has a chance to be QBOF is Thomas unless you think Lindley.
Yes we can draft another QB next year, but then you just gave up on Thomas unless he's moved ahead of Stanton by then.
The whole idea of taking Thomas is supposed to be he's so athletic he might turn out to be a starting QB, that makes him by default the QBOF.
There is not a QBOF on the roster, by default or otherwise. There is the starting QB, a backup, and a project. That's it. After this season, a decision will likely be made as to whether we have the QBOF on the roster, or whether we need to go get one.
This isn't a bad thing - unlike most years we actually have a starting QB and for the first time in forever, we have a project as well.
Players like Leinart were QBOF, that never were. Players like Lindley are BQB (and get bbq'd). When was the last time we took a legit prospect to try to refine, without the pressue of "you gonna start now, son?"
Thomas is a project, and we won't know what we have until the end of the year and how the FO acts regarding QBs in the draft.
Which is exactly why I loved this pick (see my first posts in this thread)...we didn't draft a QBOF (a guy like Mettenberger, or McCarron would have had that immediate expectation) that would cause QB controversy and handwringing about Carson's play when we are in a "win-now" situation. LT doesn't come with that...because he's a project. If he ignites, and lights it up next preseason, the QB controversy will begin and every Carson throw will be picked apart (pun intended).
The Thomas pick makes ZERO sense if Keim and Arians are not banking on him as a QBOF.
Guess we define QBOF differently. I think if you don't have a young QB you always have QBOF on your roster. If you have Rodgers or Ryan you have backups, if you have Carson Palmer one of your QB's has to be someone you think might be your next starter, unless you have a great backup.
I think they took Thomas with the hope that by the time Palmer is too old, Thomas will be the QB.
now if in one year he's not on track to that then what do you do? You said draft another QB but now you have starter Palmer, backup Stanton and 2 young QB's and you almost assuredly have to cut one unless you move Thomas to TE.
So in your scenario Thomas only gets one year to prove himself unless the QB you draft next year is good enough that he can replace Stanton as the backup.
If you have a solid backup taking a project makes sense. If you have a young solid starter like Rodgers or Ryan etc, taking a project makes sense. When your starter is old, I don't agree that it makes sense.

Carson will play a full 16 games this season before he turns 35.
Not in the old age home, yet, and he's healthy.
Not good at reading defenses, doesn't process info quickly enough to get through progressions, doesn't "throw" receivers open, locks onto one receiver.Disagree. That is far too broad a statement. Multiple reports say he's got a high football acumen. Which mental aspects specifically do you mean?

The not processing info ding is the most concerning because the game only speeds up at this level and even the likes Manning, Luck, and guys who have been playing QB their entire life had to adjust to NFL level speed.
Hopefully Garth is happy with response time and you can go ahead and exhale now .
How many times do you see WR's running open in the NFL? Being open in the NFL is completely different than in college. That goes along with the ability to "throw" a guy open. His receivers were not really able to get open, thats why he forced passes

I hope so.Thomas will be fine. You guys... chill baby

I hope so.
Odds are definitely against him. Players usually aren't better at the NFL level than they were in college. It does rarely, occasionally happen though.

Flip flop much?
