BA says his 4.6 40 was due to a bad foot, rant a 4.44 at his pro day. Says he's very physical and that's why the got him...depth and special teamer. Says one of their coaches coached in his division and has some inside information on him.

Maybe a nice gunner? Someone to put on the other side of Bethel?

Pick still weird to me, but at least that gives it some context.

Wondering if they just mailed in the final day of the draft.
BA just said in the presser that Powell really runs a 4.4, and that he needs to make the team by playing special teams gunner style.

When you watch Walter Powell on tape, man, he is super quick out of his breaks and then he's very difficult to tackle---not just slippery but has an array of side steps and jukes and then sudden escapes.

Last year everybody said the same when they picked Ellington after another RB ...

They did? On this board? The Cardinals could trade Campbell and Peterson to the Rams for a 5th round pick in 2016 and there would be people writing it was a good move and to trust in Keim and Arians. You know, like, in Whiz we trust.

Hmm. Trust the guys whose jobs depend on getting this right, have met and scouted these players for years and have millions of dollars of scouting resources available to them. Or trust the hysterical drunk guy who has three print out of espn mock drafts in his back pocket.

See I can way exaggerate reality and make false comparisons too.

In Whiz we trust. Or have you forgotten how many times that was written here from 2010-2012?

Rod Graves, George Boone .....

By the way I was making a joke.

There was way too much blind trust in the past FO's and coaching staffs

We are all gun shy to a point.

I know it sounds like I'm drinking the Koolaid, but I really do think this staff has a plan and can develop players.

On the other side I am still scratching my head on some of the picks.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now as they have earned it, but I reserve the right to come back and criticize later. :D

You are spot on Dogg. Great depth as gunner and returner. Should put PP third in line for return duties this year behind Brown and Thomas. You can never have too much speed, (especially depth with speed). This guy's toughness makes him a genuine candidate for a gunner.

Personally I love the strategy of drafting two players at positions you HAVE to hit and hedging your bets and doing it the same year so they can come in at same point and compete. I think its becoming a theme with this FO.

Taylor/Ellington Last Year - I am sure with the benefit of hindsight everyone is happy they did this. I guess someone could say just pick Ellington duh but there is guess work always even at the highest level. We maybe starting a new trend here.

Martin/Stinson This Year - Same thing although they are different players. My guess is they both at part of DL rotation rather then the move to OLB that has been discussed.

Brown/Powell - Very similar players with the added bonus that POwell can be a Bethel level ST player. Speed, speed, more speed. Anyone else want to bet that 1 of these 2 has a similar year to TY Hilton his rookie year???

I agree the Powell move is a head scratcher but bottom line is team wanted to add speed and needed to do it at WR. Between Ginn, Brown, and POwell we likely have the fastest 3-4-5 WRs in the NFL. And that is super important to BA's offense. Like someone else said this is like Hilton/Brazil pick.

I live 20 miles from Murray State.( Western KY). This was big news in this

area. He made the front page of the Paducah Sun and they talked about it

on the news. We never thought we would see a draft where a Murray State

kid got drafted and a Texas kid didnt. As far as the kid goes I dont know

much about him other than he is from St. Louis and 10 teams sent a scout

for his pro day.
