I was so sure we'd go after Massie or another OT that I was very disappointed when the pick was made. But no doubt BPA is the way to go, and the fact that he can play both CB and S is a bonus. Props to the FO.

Let me explain it. The Cards let other teams pick for need, then we scoop up the values. We learned a lot from the Levi Brown situation, and it is paying big dividends.

"big dividends" like going 5-11 and then 8-8 with Whis's players. Let's be real here. We didn't get anything out of Ryan Williams last year and very little from Rob Housler. Isn't it early to be patting ourselves on the back for those two picks?

As for Fleming, anyone that didn't see that we'd be taking cornerback early hasn't been paying attention to all the corners we were bringing in for visits. Good pick; hopefully he can integrate into the system and is better than Crezdon Butler.

I think people are more surprised than upset with the pick because, as I said earlier, Fleming wasn't discussed much here. Like Ryan Williams last year he just wasn't a topic of discussion much on ASFN.

I know I overlooked him because I was skipping over guys with 2nd round rankings. That and its 9:42 CDT and OU still sucs. :p

It is the right way to draft and it is a great way to avoid disastrous busts. Even when guys disappoint, like Dan Williams and Beanie Wells, they at least contribute.

Don't outsmart yourself; just take the guy most likely to contribute and be a good player. Let the Seahawks try to prove that they are smarter than everyone else

I'm pleased with the pick. He seems like a cocky Ray Horton type fit.

BPA. Take it when you can get it.

I agree. Looks like a similar type player to Dre Kirkpatrick who was one of 3-4 players I would have liked in the first round.

If we get within 5 picks we have a 6th rounder to offer if we think someone will jump on him.

Hightower trade (or our own) to secure Massey if we think someone is jump him? Sounds good to me.

If we land Massey in the 4th, I'd say this is a great draft and then focus on the OLB or DE area or both.

Though it is possible Massey is talked about so much he might be one of the first few picks in the 4th round. Though this might also give the Cards time to be the one to move up.

I mentioned one thing to my wife...we did not waste any time getting up to the podium. Good or bad, the boys wanted him...and right quickly.

Solid physical CB who has done well but needs coaching and thus can become even better. Good tackler for CB. With him and Gay, I think even with Marshall leaving our physical tackling should continue. I like this pick.
I may be wrong, but I thought I heard his tackling needs work. He is a playmaker though.

Mayock rates Massie as a 48?

A lot of people myself included we're frustrated last year when the cards passed on LBs for Ryan Williams and Housler last year. That seemed to work out well. Wiz and co have been drafting very well the last couple of years. I'm sure there's a legit reason for passing on an OT here. I love this BPA mentality it's how good teams are built.

How? One didn't play a down and the other one had dropsies. Now, maybe it will work out in the future, but right now, your statement couldn't be farther from the truth.

I'm not sure how to feel about this pick, simply because I don't know the prospect. We did need some secondary help, and it seems like everyone loves the pic for us, so I'm cool with it.

@nfldraftscout: Not super surprised about Bobby Massie falling. Not sure who had him rated so high, but he's not that good.

His feet are pretty average, Strength is average.

Not sure how he made a rise to 2nd and 3rd round status. Measurables show a 3rd day guy.

Walter Football had Fleming going to the Cowboys in round three. One pick after ours. Good guess there. Huge misses on several others though.

Good value pick who fits Ray Horton's system and will contribute on special teams. I like the pick. One thing is certain: there will be fierce competition for defensive back roster spots. As Rod Graves said, O-line will be addressed, either later in the draft or in another way.

Finally the Cardinals are learning how to draft. :)

I would rather have Brandon Mosley, Auburn.
