that is a great pic - until you look in the back and realize that there a player from a team that is 1-11 standing behind him and we are so pumped up because we put ourselves into a 25 point hole against the worst team in football. That picture would also be a hell of a lot better if it came after maybe we scored the winning TD against the worst team in football. Alas we didn't - we lost to the worst team in professional football because our D and Offense both were horrendous for 2 and half quarters.

Also - if that game had been played against anyone with a .500 record or even a couple games below - Josh may have shown something - but the fact that it was against the worst team in football and we still couldn't get over the hump to beat them - means NOTHING.

Very interested to see how Josh plays against the Lambs this weekend now that the pressure's completely off. I actually bet he plays quite well and will look like "Chad Pennington"(that one's for youy Tango. ;) ) standing on the sidelines holding a clip-board for someone else next season.

Terry was the number one overall draft pick. Josh was a third rounder.

There's a reason for that....

Tom Brady was a 6th round draft pick. There was a reason for that too

It still amazes me that all these prognosticators seem to already know that Josh will not be a starter in this league. Anytime you debate that, you are labeled as a Josh lover or a koolaider.

Funny, since it is a fact that this is Josh's 3rd year in the league.

It is also a fact that this is his first year starting.

It is also a fact that he has started 13 games, which is the equivalent of less than a full season.

It is also a fact that he has started 10 games in this system that DG has implemented.

What is not a fact, but widely agreed upon at this point is that the previous coaching staff was suspect at best. So why would anyone that thinks that would expect anything spectacular out of the qb from that regime is beyond me. He is a young QB that is argueably a rookie at the position based on the # of games played and based on the previous lack of coaching.

I don't know if he will ever improve to the point that we all would hope. I do know that he has done some things that given his cheap price, his young age and given that there are so many holes in the entire team that he will almost certainly be given the chance to return.

How he progresses over these last couple of games will matter. Why? Because even though the cards are out of the playoffs, the teams that they play will sure as hell be fighting to get in.

yeah - and Tom Brady immediately went out and took over for a 1-4 team and completely changed the outlook of the club - so what's your point?

Lower round picks need to be able to step up immediately if they really hope to have a long term future in this league - otherwise they are gonna be dommed to pinetime or maybe - deep into their careers they somehow "get it".

If Josh had played one ENTIRE good game this season that led to a single victory - I would have so much more faith in his "progress" - sadly wehavgen't seen that all year even though our schedule while he's been in there has been filled with teams with defensive deficiencies. Hell - even in the games where we had very good running games (few and far between) - he still struggled and that is what my main concern is.

My point is simple don't point out things like draft status just to prove a point and then gladly ignore things that go against it.

Its sorta like how every week it seemed that people were bringing up how Big Ben would save this team and bring this team to victory based on how well he did (although too much credit was given again) ... but ignore the fact that he has one of the best running games in the league with him, the best Oline in the league, and WRs that get open (and ignore times when he had bad games like Sunday). All of these things are foreign to this Cardinal team but yet if given the same circumstances he would somehow still be able to perform? Call me crazy but I don't think so.

If we really wanted to go on draft status for QB, we would ignore taking one in the first round because there hasn't been one that played in the game for 5+ years.

Is Josh the savior of this team now? No. Could he be in the future? Possibly.

I just go against the idea of bashing and getting rid of a "project" QB (which was what he was declared at the draft) after his first year starting when the entire damn offense has been in disarray for most (if not all) of the season. Keep him with the idea he stays here as a backup and let a FA QB lead this team and take him under his wing. If he earns the job in training camp (taking it away from the vet) then so be it.

Its not complicated folks

Maybe because he came right in and won games.

Tom Brady would be stocking shelves somewhere if he had come in and played the Pats out of the playoffs that year, and Bledsoe would probably still be in NE.

This has to do with Josh exactly how, other than being the polar opposite?

Since someone brought up Brady being a 6th rounder, please read the above, from this thread. I don't like to post the same thing over and over, so I'm just going to quote myself.

McCown has been playing well enough for the Cards to win. Like I've been saying for weeks now, the D is the problem. The offense just isn't very good and hasn't been all season long, but they have not slipped like the defense has the past 6 weeks.

If the D can't play hard every single game, blow it up and start over.

I agree to some extent with you Pete. The Defense has been slipping the past couple of weeks. I don't think we should blow it up and start over, but I do think that there are some things we do need to fix. At least a run stopping lineman, linebacker, and a true shut down corner either through free agency or the draft.

Since when is Jon Kitna "an established Vet"? The only thing that he's established is that he can be as mediocre as you want him to be!

You sure like being dramatic K9. Based on his performance last year, Kitna would be a huge improvement from what we currently have. Why wouldn't we be happy about that?
