This was by far the worst of the franchise. Just god awful!

The two main actors Father/son had zero chemistry or rapport together on screen. Bruce Willis seemed to be limping along and bored with the role IMO.

This sucked.

oh man... when Shane says something is awful, it's got to be AWFUL.

This movie seems to ooze with the same flaws and problems they all have had since the 3rd film. You can't have a standard action movie, stick Bruce Willis in it, have him say a few catchphrases and call it a Die Hard movie. The genius of the first movie (and to a lesser extent the second) was not only the wisecracks and comedy, but it was the impossible situation in a small space. The fact that the whole first movie takes place in a skyscraper (and the second in an airport) gives it a sense of urgency that was NEVER duplicated in later efforts. That, to me, is what a Die Hard movie is--not these lame action movies with the same character spouting the same things.

I love John McClane the character, but he's become a caricature, not a character. He's no longer vulnerable and in impossible situations, which made the first two movies great.
Funny, I love Optimus prime the character because he is vulnerable and in impossible situations. Well said!

And why are so many people rushing to see a movie like this.

Yep

I think you are missing the one where he had to stand naked in the ghetto with the racial slur sign around his neck

Here it is:

He's aged well. Look at the progression of the movies(in order):

There is a picture from 3 in there, I saw it on Tapatalk, but it doesn't show up on here. Quote the post and you'll see the img info for it. Bizarre.

Everyone involved with this movie should get the Inglorious Basterds treatment with a swastika carved into their head so no one could ever forget the horrible thing they've done.

Saw it today..... Quite frankly, we all enjoyed it. It wasn't as good as the others, it wasn't Shakespeare, yes, the helicopter would have crashed immediately as soon as its tail rotor made contact with the building, yada, yada yada. But as far as a Sunday afternoon matinee action flick, is was a hoot. Paid 5 bucks to see it and it was well worth it. The chase scene at the beginning was outrageously overdone and entertaining, as was the final sequence in Chernobyl, which was equally entertaining. And.... most importantly, John McClane is John McClane! Everyone else in the audience seemed to enjoy it as well; lotsa smiles and "reliving the moments" walking out.

That's what I don't get. What makes John McClane "John McClane" in this movie? He takes a backseat to his son, has 2 complaints the entire movie (not being called "dad" and that he's "on vacation"--which of course is wrong, he didn't go to Russia to be on vacation, he went to find his son) and is basically invincible. How does ANY of that make him John McClane? He's a completely different character.

He's invincible in all the Die Hard movies.

Agreed.... as I said before, it's not as good as the others, but he still has the wry look, the arse-kicking mentality, wise cracking mouth and involved in lotsa action. We had fun with it.

See there's where I disagree. He was in no way invincible in the first movie, and sorta in the second, which is part of the characters charm. Here he was a cyborg thrust in a mediocre action movie in which the film makers give him one trademark throwaway line and call it "Die Hard."

Complete failure. IMO, of course. :)

We'll just have to agree to disagree. You might have an argument that he was more invincible in this one, but there were a number of incidents in all the other movies that would have made anyone dead or critically injured.

I DO agree that the world wouldn't have ended had they never made this movie, but we all enjoyed it for the mindless action flick that it is.

Your tastes aren't the same as most Americans.. Sometimes is just good to not be hit upside the head with crap like we do on an everyday basis and relax..

LOL. Seems most americans, critics or movie-goers apparently agreed with me seeing as the most not only got trashed by the critics but also bombed at the Box Office. And not sure why you singled me out here...7 people in this thread said they saw it and it was awful, while only you and Chris gave it thumbs up. but yeah...it's my tastes that are so different from most Americans.

Wasn't really anything personal.. Your comment happened to be towards the end of the thread at the time.. Wasn't the last one, I just picked yours. No rhyme or reason to it.. You should feel honored.. Haha
