My friend and me got into a discusion today. This next season is already pronounced a crap shoot. From what the TV said, nobody has gone to Allen Iverson looking to sign him. Now, I am in no way saying AI would take us to a championship but I honestly do think that our training staff could get him back to the way he played a couple years ago. I mean, they are absolutly amazing with older players or injured players (Nash, Amar'e, Grant Hill, Shaq). Were going to get our butts kicked next year so why not try out AI for a year just to make watching the Suns fun for a while. If there is one thing a rejuvinated AI can do its make basketball fun to watch...even if you're losing.

What's your thoughts? (assuming he can get back to the form he played in his late 20's)

No question that AI is a great player...but he destroyed his image a lot lately....at least i have a bad impression for him now with all the problems he had as a Piston. We don't need him right now we have too many ego swingman whom Nash has to "feed" and i believe he would want WAY MORE than our MLE.....

Unless our training staff can give players a lobotomy, we won't have much success with AI.

We have no use for him. Better give the minutes to Barbosa, Dragic and Richardson (boost his stats so we can get a better deal for him).

I'm not interested for many reasons, not the least of which is that his pairing with Nash in the backcourt would be an absolute nightmare defensively.

I am always in the minority who thinks AI is a great player. It would give me a reason to watch Suns games next year.

I like Iverson, but he's very far away from what this team needs.

Agreed. If this team was a scorer away or something like that great but not a good fit. Also, AI is a pure scorer. He doesn't do much else. Even though he is really a PG, every team he has been on has tried to play him at SG in attempt to get other things out of the PG position while keeping his scoring.

Im OK w/ undersized combo guards coming off the bench as a quick offensive spark (i.e. LB, House) but as a main guy on a team I think its a bad plan (I.E. AI).

I hope Iverson and Artest sign with Cleveland. Boozer should too. It would be a delightful mess.

Quoted for truth.

Besides, he's one of the best players of this generation, possibly even the best scorer the league has had in a long, long time. He has been to the finals, but never won. He's probably in search of a ring at this point, and we don't give him a shot at that. That said, I don't know how many contenders will want to pay him this year either.

But I'm not saying sign him so we can win a ring. He needs our staff to rejuvinate his career and we need something "interesting to watch". Lets trade J-Rich for some relief, trade Amar'e and get what we can for him. Lets blow this up and just see if AI can make next season interesting to watch. Either way were going to suck so it was just an idea to have a little bit of fun of a wasted season next year.

Iverson wants to play for the Grizz now.....interesting. Sounds like he's desperate. The only reason he'd go there is because he would be the franchise player on a crappy team.

He wouldn't be the franchise player there at all. They just had the second pick overall and got Hasheem Thabeet and last year got an amazing player in O.J. Mayo. Not to mention they already had Rudy Gay and Marc Gasol is even stepping it up. I don't think AI would even start over Michael Conley at this point and he for sure isn't going to start over Mayo.

(Even though I started this thread I am not a AI supporter/hater. I just thought it would be cool to see what the training staff could get out of him).

He would def start over Conley, but the grizz would still be hesitant because Conley was looking like a bust his rookie year and is now turning out to be serviceable.
