I'm "in"...

Why? I'd rather have all the so-called "experts" saying "I luv' the pick" then hearing them say...I DON'T get this one at all. Time will tell. GO CARDS! :D

the experts talk really good about williams..at pro day he run 4.49 and had 40 leap vertical and 10.4 broad jump..he looks really athletic..last year was super productive..so there is ahope..at this point trade beanie wells to cincy for palmer is pretty sure.

I agree with Stout. To many other good players on the board, but we go with a slow RB. We abandoned the run almost every game last year .. So why go RB ?

We're getting one of the vets. The QB class this year is not very good and people are only overrating it due to the draft coming before FA

I think you misunderstood. I was saying we have no pass rush so the opponents qb will have all day to throw. Meaning we won't run the ball b/c we'll be down two td's.

The Nevada QB was our guy and SF jumped up to get him IMO. Sheard might have been taken but an RB? "Lucy, you got some 'splain' to do...."

Runs with a good low pad level and is a physical runner. Wells and Hightower are not the answer. My only concern is that he hangs onto the ball.

He only had 5 starts his last year because of nagging hamstring issues (and people knocked Beanies durability in college)...586 total yards. hardly super productive.

The Sporting News Draft book has Williams listed as the top running back. They say he's ver powerful, breaks tackles and has great moves. Blocking needs work

"Lacks pure breakaway speed. Has struggled with ball security at times during his career. Not a strong back that breaks tackles or picks up yardage off initial contact"

ugh, if this is what he doesn't have... what the hell DOES he have?

He had 1,600 yds. rushing the season before last, when he was somewhat banged up.

That's about 140 yd. average a game!

Isn't Timmy due to be a FA soon? And, Beanie quickly made himself comfortable in the Leinart house of whinning.
Whiz has shown he wants players dedicated to football and Beanie talked a lot, but didn't show much.

Btw, Williams' number is 34 ;-)

I don't get it, we have a RB with averages of 4.8 and 4.2 the last 2 years, Wells averaged 4.5 when he was healthier in 2009, are we giving up on him? He seemed to have a lot of promise at first. We cant rush the QB, cant stop the rush, little in the tight end department, and we go with a 5'9" RB 4.61 who fumbles a lot and doesn't have breakaway speed or ability to break tackles. I'm out of here time to go to the gym and do something productive.

Whis has now drafted four RBs in five years and runs the ball less than any coach in the league. I don't understand.

However, I do think that we needed a different type of back. This offense still lacks speed, and despite his 40 time, Williams is pretty fast. But if Beanie is the odd man out, somebody needs to be fired. You simply can't waste that many early picks and expect to succeed.

Tim Fumbletower couldn't stop giving the ball away and Beanie Wells can't stay healthy. Wonder why the Cards rarely ran the ball.

They said he has "sweetness" tatted on his back. :)

Its not even that Wells cant stay healthy, it's the fact that a strong wind seem to blow him over last year. In year 1 he ran strong, now he cant break a tackle.

Both Mike Mayock and Charles Davis had Williams rated as their #2 running back and were raving about the kid. Kiper said he wasn't at his best in 2010 being slowed by injury but had a fantastic 2009 season. Mayock said his main issue is durability.

Definitely a head-scratcher of a pick.

so they replace him with a guy who... fumbles the ball... and can't stay healthy?

makes a buttload of sense.

People who haven't watching him shouldn't be disparinging him as player. The choice in position is questionable, but the player is an absolute stud. He jumped off the screen everytime I watched him play. If we are keeping him, he will be a productive player for us.

This means one of two things:

There is a trade prearranged (most likely)

Wiz wants to send a message and is going to cut Beanie or THT (extremely scary possibility)

The Cards could have drafted the Janitor from Boston College and some of you homers would be defending the pick.

Unless this is a move as part of a package to get a Veteran QB it is an absolutely ridiculous pick.

Either the Cards have blown yet another first round pick in Wells or they've simply lost their minds.

2000,2001,2002,2003,2005,2006,2009... Eight first round picks no longer on the team!!!! Oh well whoever this guy is he'll be cut before he ever plays a down.

The NFL should take the team away from the Bidwills.

RBs who cry when they're drafted have a great track record. :CedricBenson:

When you can draft a guy with a pierced eyebrow, that's something you have to do.

You are always happy when the draft analysts say, "He was pretty good two years ago."

At least he won't get enough carries for his injury history to come into play.

I'm glad we drafted a guy for whom pass protection is a problem.

VA Tech RBs Kevin Jones and Lee Suggs worked out for their respective teams.

Knew the first round wouldn't make me angry. I saw this one coming (almost started a thread on it), and I'm still pissed.
