During the game he said Hasley was our fifth starter. I know that the season is young and he is a rookie, but with our current state I would consider if the #3, this is my order
1 Vazquez
2 Webb
3 Hasley
4 Estes(who would of thought he would be this good)
5 Albi Dessens, I mean Elmor Lopez, I mean Russ Ortiz.

I think after the all star break when we reset the rotation we will see that order, maybe Estes and Ortiz switching depending on if Ortiz can rebound. What do you guys think.

Not likely - Once the season is rolling, 'number ___' starter is pretty irrelevant. Between off days and so on, it's more a question of showing different looks at a team in any series. Halsey is only '#5' because of his youth and low pay.

True . . . until you approach the post-season. Then #2 vs. #5 becomes important, so your more dependable pitchers get more starts in each series.

But I agree with bankybruce that Ortiz should be dropped lower than #2 now, unless and until his performances warrant moving him back up.

Moving Brandon Webb higher shouldn't have the adverse effect it did when he was trying to fill the shoes of Curt Schilling. Now it's a balanced rotation of 5 -- er, 4 -- solid pitchers, with less pressure on each.

At least 90% of what Thom says is either inaccurate or irrelevant (as is this example). He will play much better if you just set the TV to "mute"
