with the AP cut, and John Browns tweet... it looks like the cards are already taking a serious look at the cupboards and deciding what they want to move on from. Nice to see the new guys already hard at work... Identifying your needs is the first step in filling them.

Apparently you were drafting against 31 idiots. That dude is not getting drafted at the bottom of the third round.
LOL...
I set it to "user voted team needs"...
actually got Sam Darnold and Ateman in the first two rounds too... it was basically a fantasy draft
I would be a happy camper to get Michel in the third but the dudes draft stock is skyrocketing,... he may end up a top 15 pick if it keeps up

This makes no sense. AP was on a cheap deal and would have been a great one two punch with DJ. We will see who they bring in to replace him. Every time a new coaching staff comes in they get rid of 90% of the roster within two years.

Did you not see the evil eyes AP was giving sean payton because he wasn't getting carries on the saints because they had better running backs?

He would be nothing but a distraction here and isn't going to run the ball 8 times a game because DJ is always on the field. This is a no brainer cut.

yeah... AP still thinks he is a HoF player in the making and performing as well as he ever has. He will not sit quietly on the bench and watch a younger player get all the work while he only gets four or five snaps a game.

Having a running back staying perfectly healthy for the season is a speculative basis for a big move. With a good O Line, and staying healthy himself, Peterson showed that he still had serious skills. We won't miss him as long as DJ stays intact, but that's a big if. Kerwynn isn't starting RB material. He was our 4th stringer to start last season.

and lets not eliminate the probability of drafting yet another RB in the fifth round or so.... Elijah Pennys brother can likely be had in the fifth...
the kid has potential... normally I wouldnt draft like that except....his brother is on the team and also plays RB..

do you have any brothers?? The competition is fierce... drafting baby Penny will make both of them better
my baby bro likes to fish... but I am a bit more skilled at it. That dude made me sit out on that boat for 10 hours in the cold until he caught a fish bigger than mine

yeah..drafting baby Penny could be good for the club
You could have the 2 Cent Backfield.

What I always find funny is the malcontent part. Do any of you know AP personally? Why do people always say an older player will be unhappy with being a backup? So much so to the point that they will hurt their own legacy or not be helpful to a younger player?

Because you saw one slow motion video of him on the sidelines in NO 4 months ago?

If that is the case why do so many former teammates contradict said narrative? They must all be lying.

you mean like Brett Favre saying on national TV it aint his damn job to teach Rodgers anything?/ or like Tom Brady throwing a fit to the owner forcing a trade on Jimmy G??
that kind of thing?
The great players always want the ball and most of them play a couple seasons too long.

or this article on Peterson, from new orleans where he was complaining to the press that "He didnt sign on for no nine snaps"

AP is a walk-in HOF when he retires. If his performance with us last season was any indicator, he is also a guy who can still play at a high level and will want to get his reps. That doesn't make him a malcontent since that same drive and desire is what helped make him a HOF RB and a man among boys.

Cardinal players were energized when AP came in and showed his stuff---that was a positive for his presence. You saw KW follow in APs footsteps and also play with intensity and grit when it was his turn.

From what I can tell, the decision was more about cap space. The neck injury also had something to do with it as well. Card staff had to make a tough decision and let a good player go---there will be more to follow as the roster gets churned by the new staff.

Wha? He was our second stringer to start, play and finish last season. Who was 2/3 above him during training camp ?

next, mathieu??

He is not getting cut, at least not this year. The savings to cut him is very minimal this year, so you keep him and if he plays well, do a restructure/extension. If he does not play well, you convert salary into bonus to spread it out and cut him after the 2019 season. He is here for at least two more years.

TM will be gone if there is no restructuring of contract. In March, TM's 2018 and 2019 salaries are guaranteed. For that money Cards will get a bonafide ILB and a WR in FA.

One slow mo replay??? Ok me uninformed.... was widely reported that he was being a malcontent and a distracrion over being not happy with his work load.... nice try though...

Multiples of reports about it all over the internet even getting blasted by former players https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.al...robinson-blasts-saints-rb-adrian-peterson/amp

Bwahahahahahaha. This is your proof? A guy not affiliated with the team in any way nor does he cite any sources on said team is the guy you use as “widely reported”?

I have no issue with AP being released but let’s not make him out to be something that he’s not.

One of the things you referenced is an out right rumor.

That still doesn’t prove AP is a malcontent.

And I actually agree with not signing for 9 carries. Being unhappy and being a malcontent are two different things.

AP was directly responsible for 2 wins last year. During a time when we thought the Cards wouldn't win another game. That means a lot.

I thank him for his service and wish him well in retirement.

Yup. He's going to have to renegotiate. No one will pay him what the Cards will.

what makes no sense is taking the best player on the team... maybe the game offensively off the field for a backup running back who's time has passed, doesn't play special teams... while already having a solid, cheap #2 rb who does play ST.
it's exactly this.

if you want to improve special teams, you need all hands on deck. no way in hell was AP going to run STs at all. backup RB makes the team based on special teams play, backup RBs are a dime a dozen.
