Checkmate. That'd be the job of a safety, now wouldn't it?

Alexander put a filthy move on Wilson to get behind him at the beginning of the play (when Wilson was coming on a blitz). It wasn't like Wilson was playing the deep zone.

Do you even know about what you speak? Wilson had to fight through two other players to even get in the position to get a hand on Alexander.

Cut Adrian Wilson is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. We just gave him a new contract and K9 put it perfectly, he is part of the solution. Seriously why cut him???

Plus Wilson even got his hands on SA and almost brought him down.

Roy Williams would've caught Shaun Alexander from behind.

Roy Williams couldn't catch my fat ass from behind. He's not that fast, hence his being a liability in coverage. You sure as hell don't want to be in front of him when he's charging but he won't be running anyone down.

Maybe I don't get it. Either way I feel ganged up on. Why are you guys defending a player that's playing badly on a defense that sucks? he's clearly not playing at the level he played at last year. I never said cut the guy, but his only "good" season he's had with us was his contract year, and IMO I agree with the thread starter.

I don't think I've said anything untruthful on this entire thread.

I'm not trying to beat you up or anything, Vince. I disagree with Mao that Wilson's only a contract year player. I think that he's the best active player on the defense right now, and the most talented player on the defense after Dansby and Berry. That being said, he's trying to do everything right now, and that's getting in the way. I think that he was better protected last season with Olahete playing center field, but Griffith can't do that. He is missing tackles, but I wonder if it's because he's going for strips and big hits in order to make a play, and doesn't have the deep help that he needs.

I think that Green made a mistake in releasing Olahete this offseason, and I think that our secondary right now lacks playmaking skills and is putting a lot of pressure on themselves because Okeafor has been a letdown and the front 7 can't stop the run.

Wilson's being singled out along with Dansby because they're the best players, but Denny and Clancy said last season that this defense is predicated on all 11 guys believing that the guys next to them are going to be able to do their jobs, and it's obvious that no one believes that right now, and that's why people are out of position.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about? Wilson was not blitzing on that play. He was 10 yards from the line of scrimmage. Was going with the flow. Alexander cut back. Instead of trying to cut back with him Wilson kind of tried to "high five" him on the way past.

I think the notion that Grif can't still play is way off base, we play a lot of zone and we get beat on a lot of intermediate routes. Those are our LBs territory, we probably have the worst coverage LBs ever. Ian Gold would have been perfect, I mean perfect, on the otherside of Dansby. We need a guy who can drop and get depth. The only play on Sunday where Grif messed up was Williams 3rd TD, where Grif cheated up a bit and Mack played on the sideline a bit too much, leaving Roy Williams wide open. Grif IMO has done well in run support and done a pretty good job in centerfield, since most of the time he is the only guy over the top.

Roy Williams sure did look slow last night when he was running into the end zone to give his team a much needed win. Real coverage liability too.

Adrian Wilson is our new Ray Thompson.

Do you mean that Adrian Wilson is drinking scotch during the games?

Inane. Adrian Wilson doesn't just lead the team in tackles by a little bit, he has 19 more than the next guy, Dansby. Thompson never had that kind of production. As a matter of fact, in Ray Thompson's best year he only had six more tackles than Wilson does right now. Adrian probably needs to get his head back into the game but he is one of the best players on this team.

Wislon was one of the best players on the team last year. Then he got his contract.

I'm not going to defend the play of Wilson, but the team is fielding two strong safeties.... We need to get a competent FS back there that can actually assist in coverage and let Adrian Wilson be the Adrian Wilson we've seen flashes of.

Thompson was the best player on this defense once too. Whats he doing now?

So that throws out "best player on this defense" defense.

Yep. Good players often look bad on a bad team.

Yeah, I watched Cardianls Insider last week. Then the game. How about you?

You mean Maximum cardinals by Altell? You mean the segment where they were talking about cars? Are you trying to draw some lame ass correlation between a mid week taping of a show and performance on the field?

You couldn't possibly be talking about his production.. being that he is leading the team in tackles by a wide margin. Now I do know that he does not appear to be making the same kinda impact that he was making last year but you can say that for the whole team except for maybe 2 or 3 players.

Ryan's got a point. And I certainly don't think Adrian is a bad player, I just had expectations for him (and the rest of the defense) to step up his game to a Pro Bowl caliber level. Not only have there been multiple missed tackles, but the glaring stat to me is the fact that he has created zero turnovers. If he's going through personal problems I'll give him this year as a mulligan especially since the rest of the defense has taken the year off as well, but I'm going to have to see some marked improvement in 2006 for me to say our investment in Adrian was a good one.

Yeah he was the best player when they were fielding pro-bowlers like Rashod Swinger, JJ McKleskey, Coby Reinhart and Johnny Rutledge

Yeah, Wilson said he was going to go buy a car. Said things were good! Hey, your team is 2 and 6 but things are good, right Adrian?
