Ryan's got a point. And I certainly don't think Adrian is a bad player, I just had expectations for him (and the rest of the defense) to step up his game to a Pro Bowl caliber level. Not only have there been multiple missed tackles, but the glaring stat to me is the fact that he has created zero turnovers. If he's going through personal problems I'll give him this year as a mulligan especially since the rest of the defense has taken the year off as well, but I'm going to have to see some marked improvement in 2006 for me to say our investment in Adrian was a good one.

That's certainly fair. I don't think anyone would expect any less.

I don't believe that Wilson is having a great year. I think he is trying to hard to make something happen and is forgetting about the fundementals. He needs to keep his head up when he makes a tackle. He needs to wrap up the ball carrier. He needs to set making the tackle as his #1 priority right now and make turnover a secondary concern.

Wilson is a good player who is in a slump.

Come on people. These are pop warner type skills we are talking about here. When you don't wrap up, you tackle with your head down, and you take bad angles and run at 3/4 speed while chasing a guy, that is loafing. Pure and simple.

Players with big contracts need to be leaders, not loafers. Get rid of the loafers.

Yeah, Wilson said he was going to go buy a car. Said things were good! Hey, your team is 2 and 6 but things are good, right Adrian?

You actually take what they say on that show serious? How do you know he wasn't referring to his personal life? I mean come on I know everyone is upset and looking for something or someone to blame but geez.. the players do have lives outside of football.

Ron McKinnon used to lead our team in tackles often. And, though he was a gutsy player, nobody could accuse him of being an all-pro, and he certainly wasn't getting paid like one. Wilson HAS been compared to all-pro status, and he IS getting paid like one. He is NOT playing like an all-pro. So, until he does, he IS a contract-year player.

I'm not even going to contest your opinion Stout. I disagree, that's all. It's just ridiculous for people to compare Adrian to Thompson and for people to call for him to be cut.

Dude, it was a football show. This is when the fans get to see you off the field. Talk about how damn disappointed you are that your team is 2 - 6. Talk about what you need to do to get better. Talk about football. Don't sit there and act like nothing's wrong and say you are going to go buy a car.

When the going gets tough, Wilson goes shopping. Let's all buy him a gift card to Scottsdale Hummer.

Just to add something to this. Robert Griffith was his teams leading tackler last year. He had 40 more tackles then the guy #2 on the list.

yeah but Ron M was your starting middle linebacker.. not your SS.. It is way more common for your MLB to be leading the team in tackles. Adrian's numbers suggest what we all know.. the team is not getting it done up front. If your SS is making so many tackles it is only natural that he would be making fewer plays in the passing game

That was not the topic of discussion. He was asked what he would do if he was having a bad day.. not how does he feel about the team being 2-6. Go ahead rip the guy for that... it certainly is a clear indication of where his heart is

Oh and by the way. When the NFL came and filmed Q for six days to Sunday and he was tv and house shopping.. did you think the same thing about him? I mean he certainly didn't seem to upset while looking for a little place to call home.

WEAK. Can you reach any further.

So the guy cant have a personal life outside of football? A lot of what Maximum Cards does is try to mix in an inside look at the players personal lives off of the field just as much so on the field.

Granted. I'm not getting on the guy for not making huge plays or turnovers; when the whole defense is bad, that's difficult to do. I'm getting on the guy for utter lack of tackling form, not being able to learn to wrap instead of hit, taking poor tackling angles, missing assignments, and generally playing like crap PERSONALLY. You can play well on a bad defense, and people will be able to see it. But if you play BADLY on a bad defense, that can still be seen.

Okay, I'm with you. I definitely don't want him cut after this season. And he's probably (though not yet certainly) a better player than Thompson. Now, if he repeats this performance next year, he damn well better be cut.

The entire D has been playing like this all year. You might have a point if it was just Wilson, but it is the entire team. The entire team takes poor angles and misses tackles. We don't fill the proper gaps, we fall asleep in coverage.

The Defense has a discipline problem......it's time for a new DC.

Defend the guy all you want. I'm not buying it.

Adrian's TV appearance + his play the entire season = :lame:

Leaders, not loafers. Be a leader like Bert Berry.

The D does have a discipline problem. That is as much Green's problem as it the DC's. But where is the leadership from the players? After Berry went down, who is the leader of the D now? Sure isn't Adrian Wilson. Or maybe it is since the entire D is arm tackling, out of position, and loafing.

So you didn't answer my question. What do you say to Anquan buying a new home or getting free tv's on his day off?? Tell me how that is affecting his play since he just signed a new contract this offseason?

I'll tell you the difference Clif. Have you ever seen Quan dog a play on the field? Even once? That is why Quan gets away with being the host of the show. The Cards could be 0 - 16 but you know what Quan will give this team on every play.

That is the difference between Quan and Adrian Wilson. Both got fat contracts. One still tries. On every play. Is that so much to ask?

Where is your evidence that he is dogging it? Point to something that shows him loafing... Admit it. You have nothing to back up your silly ass posts. You still want to fight him?

How do you know, for a fact, that he is dogging it??

Is he playing undisciplined football?? I'll definitely give you that. Is he dogging it?? I don't think you can argue this one way or the other. He's lead the team in tackling 2 of the last 3 weeks. If he was dogging it.....why risk hurting yourself tackling??

Sure, I'll fight Wilson but only if he is hogtied and drinks a 12 pack first.

Several points.

1. Wilson may never turn into a player who wraps up tackles and I suspect it may be that way on purpose. Didn't Adrian suffer a bad shoulder dislocation two years ago? By keeping his arms in close, Wilson may be protecting his shoulder and career.

2. K9's arguments in this thread represent my view, although I rarely agree with K9 on anything. I don't see Wilson dogging it. I see him playing with abandon but out of control. It's not lack of effort, it's a breakdown of assignment discipline. He's trying to change the game on every play.

I read some where last week (I think ESPN)that Wilson is involved in 13% of plays on Defense (takles, deflections, ect.) and that is the highest percentage in the NFL. They went onto say that considering he is a Safety that is very bad news...

Thats is also bad new when you consider that all of that time involved in on plays he hasnt caused a single turnover.

Wilson's play has been disapointing but some of the posts on this thread are just ridiculous. Funny, but ridiculous.
