We pretty much all were worried about the Oline protecting the QB before the season began & questioned how good record wise this team would be because of it. We'll IMO, the dam has finally broken & the water is steadily flowing into the backfield drowning our QB. I think we're in trouble since we can't run or protect the QB...so I think we're going to be sitting at home come playoff time.

Understood. Wasn't my intention to try to tell the board how to think. Should have said more than I did with my post, I was just venting. Probably shouldn't have posted it all. Still don't understand the level of attack Rugby leveled though. Uncalled for in my opinion.

Well, your post was influenced by some of the extreme comments throughout the board and I suspect that Rugby was also influenced by more than just this thread. You weren't the only poster that said the kind of things you said. Also, it's kind of a continuing issue on this board.

that's what i don't get tho. after a game in which the team probably frustrated the hell out of you, why didn't you vent at THEM instead of venting at your fellow fans who were probably frustrated too?

You may be right, I never fully vented at the Cardinals last night, maybe it came out at posters this morning when I felt the darkside encroaching on my mood from the posts. Should have been more careful, didn't mean to invalidate the original question posed, as it was valid. Everyone makes mistakes, I'll choose my words more carefully next time.

Well, it's better to take out your frustrations on fellow posters than family members. Your dog probably appreciates it too and if you don't have a dog, you might think about getting one. Pets can work wonders when you feel your blood pressure rise following a really bad game.:)

I'd say the odds are around 50/50. I can't conceive that offensive line not improving next week; they were so bad there is nowhere to go but up. I'm hoping the embarrassment and the ridicule heaped on now and in the coming week inspire them towards at least mediocrity or maybe even a semblance of competence.

I do still feel everyone is overreacting quite a bit. We had a horrible game, and a bad Miami game. We have things to fix, obviously. But, we also have beaten some pretty tough opponents as well. In the NFL it's one game at a time. It just seems ludicrous to me to think the season is suddenly over after a single loss.
I think the overreation was thinking that this was a top 10 team after a very fluky 4-0 start. This team is a mere three plays from being 1-4.

They can't keep taking the game down to the final play like the Seattle, New England, and Miami games. Sooner or later, your luck is going to run out.

This team right now isn't good enough to beat the Packers, Falcons, 49ers, or Bears; and probably not even the Viings in Minnesota or the Seahawks in Seattle, where those teams have an intense home field fan advantage. I can't help but see at least 6 or 7 more losses coming our way, and that is giving the benfit of the doubt to them beating Buffalo, St. Louis, and Detroit at home, and the Jets on the road, which are all by no means automatic wins.

I say no.

Agreed. You've isolated the four games we have the best chance of winning but I don't think any of them are locks. I see us winning no more than 3 of them and I'm not looking forward to the mood around here as we head towards a 6 or 7 win season. Which is too bad because even with a disappointing season I feel our future is bright. We have a lot of young talent to build around as long as we address our obvious needs this offseason.

(b) likely didn't have all the anomalies that we seem to have (like being first team since the forties to go 4-0 without a game in which we gained 300+ yards).[/QUOTE]

The Cardinals have another oddity; so far every game played, the winning team had fewer total yards.

After seeing the line protection, I cannot see this team winning another game. It was pathetic. Start preparing for the draft.

You left out the obvious third choice and many of us agree with him. If we don't improve the protection we may not win again this season.

You should probably watch the game again. If you pay close attention I'm pretty sure you'll see the problems this time around. The O Line failures were subtle but they were there.

Maybe they're fixable but then again, maybe they aren't. It's not like we've got young talent on the sidelines just waiting for their opportunity. Last year, Skelton came in and there was instant improvement in our protection. But last year, he was replacing a QB that was single handedly destroying the pocket. That isn't the case this season. For the most part, Kolb has stayed strong in the pocket.

If I were you I'd just watch reruns of Police Squad and pretend. I don't drink so I'm not at all sure I could sit through that game again.

Still don't understand the level of attack Rugby leveled though. Uncalled for in my opinion.

Totally called for.

You are going to put it out there like that, then be prepared to hear what I and others think about it. As for an attack, as for being uncalled for ? Uh, a little self-responsibilty? Who came on here looking to instigate a whole thread full of posters ? Without reading a word of what is going on ?

Well, you got what you were looking for. I took you up on the instigation that you were putting out there, and responded. If it was not your original intention, then sorry, but that is quite confusion of a post then.

But, no. My comment was not uncalled for, and not unnessecary. You got just what your original post was asking for. You made your stance, and I made mine in response. You made an instigating comment, and I called it out for what it was. More then fair, IMO.

Again, WTF:
Really, my post was over-aggressive but yours was not? What gives you the right to come on and be such an aggressive, accusatory poster?

So you can come and do it,but no one else can ?

You accuse me of poor reading comprehension because I chose not to write a mile long post slamming opinions directly, yet you can come on, slam me for having an opinion (which was basically "oh my god settle down"), accuse me of not being able to read (making the assumption I didn't read this thread or any other - amazing), then tell me to take a break?

Uh. I didn't say anything about your opinion. I respect your opinion. I do not respect your condescension and dis-respect.

As for your reading comprehension, YOUR OWN WORDS:
I posted this as my first reaction to reading all the negative vibes this morning. It wasn't directed at just this thread, it was a culmination of reading a bunch of negative threads and this was just the last one I read before exiting stage left.

You are right, it was a legit question.

It's amazing to me that some posters get away with crap like this on this board. I realize I don't post much, but I do read a lot. All I've seen lately is a ton of whining, people constantly calling Mitch out for one reason or another and slamming other posters.

Get away with what? I haven't slammed Mitch, I like Mitch, respect him. I can't remember the last time I slammed a poster until you came on this thread looking to start something, and the only thing I slammed was your ridiculous comment that had NOTHING to do with the Cardinals, football, the game. It just was directed at posters. So who is the guy going around bashing posters ?

I was happy to find a thread where there was not a bunch of overreaction. Good talk, and good conversations. You came in and started bashing. Who is getting away with what now ?

I need to take a break? Maybe you need to take a break. Maybe all the people who come on and proceed to slam the coaching staff, the players, everyone else after ONE LOSS in a great start to the season need to take a break. Then again, maybe I do need to take a break from this board to get away from the posters that think they own the board.

Who is trying to own the board here ? You want to have the right to voice your opinion, then you say that people that have a negative outlook on the team should take a break, thus not be able to voice their opinion. Then JUST BECAUSE they don't have the same outlook about this team you say they are trying to "own the board". Seriously? Pick a lane. Either respect opinions and let people post how they want, or don't.

Yet, again, I do not fall under ANYTHING you are accusing me of being a part of.

I figured I was entitled to my opinions as much as the next guy. And my opinion is hey, we need to settle down here. Maybe I could have phrased it better, but to jump all over me in such a fashion seems totally unnecessary.

You are entitled to your opinions. But so are other people, and you have no right to tell them to settle down. And yes, you could have phrased it better. If your intention was to say something about the fact the team is 4-1, and we should be happy and confident even after the loss then yes, very good comment, and an opinion I agree with.

But, that is a lot to try to take from a comment that had no hint at being related to football.

Look,
You are entitled to your opinion, and vent your frustrations, yet so I am I, and I also am allowed to get angry and defend myself. You think about how tired you are of negativity ? Sure, I can see that. How about my side ? I was tired, of people going on EVERY thread, and judging other posters. Nothing about the game, just what people should be talking about, and what they shouldn't. Yeah, you got a, "Why don't you buzz off, and stop being stupid. Let us talk about what we want to on at least ONE thread on this board. You need a break ? Then take one." Then I went on to call out how foolish of a post it was.

You apologized and said you were wrong, which I am impressed with, it is a select few that say, "Sorry, sorry. I screwed up." I have been there myself many, many times.

I am sorry you are a offended, but I also am going to stand by what I said. Which if you re-read is nothing nasty or personal. You even admit when you re-read the thread you were wrong. Not only that, you go on to accuse me of doing things I never have on this board. Not once.

Meh. Yet, in the end. You are entitled to your opinion, you are 100% correct. Keep posting, who cares what I have to say. I mean the sincerely.

As you said, I respect other opinions, post what you want, but also, people are going to respond. If you put it out there, then people are free to respond. And the responses are not going to fall in line with one poster's opinion of what is "decent". It is an unfortunate circumstance that Mitch doesn't like but it is what it is.

Muffin totally came up short in last weeks game. Her sleeping technique was all wrong for a Thursday night game. Frickin' pets.

I will be as surprised that we make the playoffs as I am that we beat the Pats. Thursday nite could be relived by all of us Cards fans many times over the rest of the season. Who we going to put on the OL when one of these weaklings get hurt. Maybe Jared from the Subway commercials can put on some weight and fill in.
