Well there we go.. Straight from Donalds mouth.. :D

Yeah, of course. And that's kind of the point. I recognize my bias and avoid banking on it in discussions.

Show me a person that is not biased when discussing an element of their favorite team and I'll show you a liar.

I can't believe we are sitting here debating the merits if Kobe would improve the Suns. HEEELLLOOOO - People this is the most complete wing player since Michael Jordan.

What a joke? Donald is right - Kobe WOULD be unstoppable with a PG like Nash. He might score 40 a game and you would all come to understand that he is not a selfish player (as far as on the court - off the court is another matter entirely) but actually doing whatever it takes to win. Kobe would thrive here - hell he would thrive on any team.

Saying all that in terms of getting a ring KG is a much better fit. I don't know if anyone can match KG and STAT on the same frontline. And THATS what wins championships....

either Kobe or KG on this team with Nash and Amare win titles. I just think Kobe gives us the opportunity to win us more, especially after Nash slows down/retires.

Great point. Looking beyond Nash, this team is legit as long as Kobe and Amare are together. You still have a guy who can handle the ball with a legit big man. I don't think I would feel the same with KG and Amare after Nash is gone. That's assuming we no longer have Barbosa.

I think Nash/Kobe backcourt is potentially the most prolific shooting backcourt in history. I can see where Kobe would create mismatches and teams like the Spurs wouldn't have enough Bowens to cover the space.

In terms of court management, I see major problems. Nash is not Nash the MVP without the ball in his hands all the time. Kobe, same problem. And you're creating another potential problem Amare, who wants the ball all the time, every possession.

I have no doubt Nash would be the guy to defer in that scenario. That's his personality. The offense would have to change dramatically, though, and I think Amare would have to move to low-post to allow Kobe to be Kobe.

That is a great point.

I want to get one ring first and I would say KG would slightly increase our chances for the next two years.

But you are absolutely right that Kobe and Amare for years to come is just sick....

I think Kobe is only a 2 - 3years younger than KG so I could see KG and Amare being a pretty dynamic squad for the next 5+ too but if i was betting like you for the future, KB24 would be freaking incredible.

I wonder if there is any truth to the rumor he is pushing to come here moreso than Chicago and NY. That might be the one impetus that would get the Lakers to make a intra division trade.

So what? Kobe also average more shot attempts per game by a big margin then those 3 guys as well. That's still qualifies as a black hole when you look at shot to assist ratio.

Actually, that's not true. I did a quick look and added in free throws (divided them by two, not concerned about and-ones or those that came at end of games, etc....just a base point for all of them).

Kobe put up 2,141 shots. A 1 to 5.2 assist to shot ratio.

Amare, Bell and Marion put up 3,698. a 1 to 8.9 assist to shot ratio.

Not to mention by your own admission the offense had to be run through Kobe. So naturally he was in a position to get more assists. Marion, Bell nor Amare have ever been in that role on this team.

That's a good point, but it also should surprise you that he's not quite the black hole you make him out to be.

but for some reason I still like you. :D

i'm thinking if Kobe gives the go ahead to two teams in the east and one within the division, the Lakes ain't gonna do him any more favors than he'll already be getting, especially after he's thrown them under the Buss.

my guess is he goes to Chicago, and probably saves the NBA by giving Stern a good five years of KObe v. Bron in the conference finals and then the Kobe Bulls in the Finals for three or four years. i just can't see the Lakers trading him here, not being in our division and not with the way Laker fans in this city LOATHE the Suns now.

There is no chance that the Lakers trade Kobe to a team within their division unless we include Amare.

The lakers have like 6 power forwards as it is, losing a SG and gaining another PF just seems excessive, and the lakers know matching up salaries with Amare and Kobe would be near impossible when they can easily calculate a marion trade.

While they have every right to be, wanting Amare would be selfish, and not very constructive to either team.

To be completely honest I think KG/Amare/Nash would be 10 times more exciting than Kobe/Amare/Nash

Kobe is too good -- along with an amazing passer and a big man that can finish I just think we would be desensitized as the highlight reel would be abundant, but it wouldnt be quality team work, it would just be amazing basketball. With KG the entertainment factor would be much more tangible, as I think the team would be amazing, as opposed to a bunch of superstars who are all good.

And in regards to the longevity of the team when comparing kobe/kg, I dont think that is as high as we think on the suns priority list.

Like a 40 year old virgin; winning the prize just once is more important than trying to find someone who can do it 3-4 times for you.
