Correction from Gambo, make that Mel Jr as the pitching coach, not Todd.

Didn't Mel Jr have cancer or something?
I guess that was his dad
Anyone here drive a Tahoe?
I saw one driving today with D-Backs plates and the plate was a vanity that said "quentin1"
I don't know anything about this guy but I do know that lots of crappy players have made great managers.
Former UofA and major leaguer Jack Howell is the new hitting coach.
You've got be kidding. This has to be a late April Fools Day joke. This is the man who has been in charge of our player development. He is largely responsible for the players not developing. He is super inexperienced, was not a great player, and would not be my choice to lead the DBacks out of their doldrums. What a huge disappointment. Kendrick and crew have absolutely no clue in their managerial searches. Backman, Melvin, Hinch .... oh my!!!
Woo! Shout out to a former California Angel during my fan years. We just need to get Brian Downing, Doug Decinces and Wally Joyner in town for me to start man crushing
Well, Melvin surely wasn't taking us anywhere that didn't involve a sub .500 record at this point in time, so it's worth a shot. If he flops, we can look for a more qualified manager in the offseason. Something had to be done if we want any shot at making the playoffs this season, so I'll see how everything plays out.
i was listening to an interview with Jude LaCava today on 910. he had nothing bad to say about Melvin. he did however hint that this move was pretty bad for the DBacks.
In his opinion Melvin turned into a pawn for Josh Byrnes, and it was Byrnes that was making many of the poor managerial decisions such as who starts and plays. He also felt that Hinich is just going to do the bidding of Byrnes with less resistance....and basically Byrnes will be managing for his desk.
Does not sound like a great plan. oh well.
oh yeah....and a 4 year deal is freaking ********. just further highlights the point that this wasnt a baseball decision, it was personal.
Not ... displeased. Too many negatives in that sort-of-positive sentence.I'm not at all displeased with the hire. We'll see.
