Did anyone watch the ESPN show? Brad Edwards remarked that FSU, while passing the eye test, will have played one of the weakest schedules in BCS title history.

Not counting the games against non qualifying conference schools Ohio State's opponents were 47-61. Florida State's 56-52. Difference was mainly OSU playing two teams that were 1-11. Purdue and Cal. I don't imagine the AD at Ohio State expected Cal to be a 1-11 team when they scheduled the game 4-5 years ago.

The Big 10 is bad but the ACC may be the worst "power conference" I can ever remember. Duke is in the championship game. That's kind of like Minnesota being 8-4 and going to a bowl game.

The best conference this year was the PAC 12. The SEC is down this year and top to bottom, can't compare to the PAC 12.

You know its an off year for the SEC when Florida, Arkansas and Tennessee combine to win only 5 conference games. Kentucky, as usual finishes dead last in the East. Poor Kentucky, they are 18-62 in SEC conference games the last 10 years. Haven't won a conference game since 2011.

I have a stupid question.... Why wasn't the extra point kicked? I know it made no difference to the final outcome, but isn't there some type of protocol for this. It happened with a live clock at the beginning of the play, and was not in the sudden death scenario, so why no extra point?

PS, I'm not a gambler so my question has nothing to do with point spreads, but I suspect something like this has happened before with huge cash at stake.

My distant memory tells me there was a game once with something similar and the winning team did the classy thing and chose not to kick and just took a knee because the point after was mandated by the rules.

And in the NCAA, taking a knee in that situation is not only the classy move, but the strategic move, since the defense can return blocked kicks back for two points.

Had the game been within two points, Alabama no doubt would have demanded that the PAT be attempted.

How do articles about college ball not get moved to the forum they belong in? It is a ghost town over there. Come on folks. Give the college forum some respect.

Are they in the SEC in basketball as well? Are any teams in different conferences now with the two major programs?

Well. Notre Dame had been in the Big East for basketball for several years, while remaining an independent for football.

I am actually rooting for Ohio State and Florida State to remain undefeated so that the SEC will be completely shut out of the National Championship Game.

FSU stomped Maryland when they were ranked 25th.

FSU stomped Clemson when they were ranked #3 and at Death Valley.

FSU stomped Miami when they were ranked #7.

And now they'll play Duke for the ACC championship and Duke is ranked #24.

Say what you want about FSU's schedule but if they beat Duke they would have beaten 4 ranked teams, all quite handily(so far) including 2 top 10 teams. OSU has only played 2 ranked teams so let's not go cast aspersions at other teams' schedule.

this is one of the more worthless arguments -

Maryland was NEVER a top 25 team - just because a team is ranked early in the season is meaningless - they still finished 7-5, and would be in the bottom half of the B1G

Miami was the biggest mirage of the year. Never should have been ranked at all. Again, they would be a bottom half of the B1G

Clemson is an average team - beat no one. Beat an OK Georgia team

You may want to look at the bottom half of the "big" 10 before making such comments...........

The bottom half of the big 10 is pretty much on par with FCS schools

I like to wait for bowl game performances. The Big 11 has not performed well, in these matchups.

A bit of hyperbole for sure, but it really is lousy

The "bottom half" would be 1-11 Purdue, 4-8 Illinois, 5-7 Northwestern

Between those 3 schools they went 2-22 in conference

Then the rest of the bottom half would be 5-7 Indiana, 7-5 Michigan and 7-5 Penn State

Purdue is 122nd in PF and 114th in PA with a 23ppg average loss - their only win was at home over Indiana State ..... this magnificient 6 point home win came over a school that went 1-11 on the season (the only win was over a D2 school) - looking at Indiana State against just FCS schools they lost by an average of 22 points per game ... while saying the entire bottom of the big 10 is on par with FCS is absolutely hyperbole, it would be instulting to most of the FCS to say that Purdue is on their level - that is how bad this Purdue team is

I know you have a soft spot for Illinois, but they were awful as well squeaking out a 4 point win over Purdue ... they also had a comfortable 8 point win over 7-5 FCS Illinois State, they also clubbed 0-12 Miami .... the thumping over Cincy was legit though - they were absolutely rolled by the top half of the big 10 though and a "decent" UW team

Northwestern beat a 1-11 Western Michigan team, a very good FCS program in Maine, a 1-11 Cal team, a mediocre Syracuse team (which would fit in the lower half of the Big 10) and a the previously mentioned bad Illinois team

Next is Indiana - a good offensive team with a terrible defense ... much better than Purdue which they beat for one of their wins, another came with a thrashing over that terrible Indiana State team that Purdue struggled with, another win over a bad Illinois team - so they clearly aren't in the basement of the Big 10 but also clearly inflated their record against that group ..... very good wins over Penn State & Bowling Green ... they just weren't competative at all against the good teams on their schedule

Penn State has their issues and O'Brien is doing a nice job - Kent State, Eastern Michigan, Purdue & Syracuse were easy wins as they should be ... struggled with Illinois but grabbed the win .... they did beat Wisconsin & Michigan though and played Nebraska and UCF close

Michigan blew out Central Michigan, squeezed by UConn & Akron, needed triple OT to beat Northwestern and had nice wins over solid but not spectacular ND, Indiana & Minnesota

Overall a pretty lousy group

The bottom of the ACC is as lousy at the bottom and worse in the middle .... however the top of the ACC isn't close to being on par with the bottom of the Big 10

Both conferences are lousy though

This shows up in both FSU and OSU as far as strength of schedule .... main difference is that FSU is killing everyone it faces while OSU is letting anyone with a pulse make a game out of it .... some could be style of play (running attack limiting total amount of potential offense for OSU) .... just looking at the teams though, I have a hard time buying OSU as a top 5 team while I think FSU very much looks the part - this is completely subjective though

Well at least we won't be watching Ohio St get thrashed by FSU after all.
