Well check your facts because SF beat us 2 times so, and don't act like getting to beat up on Bears, Lions isn't similar to Rams and Seattle! We won 10 games and you won 11 with us basically forfeiting the one yesterday. We are evenly matched and for you to assume you will be able to move the ball as you did yesterday is a pretty big assumption. We shall see come next Sunday but what you can expect is a much different Cards than you think we are.

I realize SF beat you twice. And I can't for the life of me figure out how. It's part of the reason (especially watching the last 5 games or so) that I feel that this team isn't consistent enough to put together great performances repeatedly, especially after essentially taking a week off yesterday.

I know you got hot and made a run last year, but it's foolish to think that because that happened you'll automatically be able to turn it on at will when it counts this season.

The root of your problems come from the fact that Dansby and Hayes (especially) are not playing to the level they did during the Super Bowl run last season. With as close as offenses are when the field is limited to twelve, it's defenses that ultimately account for the difference, and I'll take the Packers versus the Cardinals (and perhaps any team in the NFC field right now).

ICan the Cardinals win? Sure. But if both teams bring their best on both sides of the ball, the Packers WILL win. Winning 7 of 8 coming into that game does a lot for the confidence.

The two games versus the Cards mean next to nothing, but we won ten more without them, which is one more than you guys did, without the benefit of SF, Seattle, and St. Louis a total of 6 times.

Some good points but when you start bashing our schedule I think the words pot kettle you're black come to mind.

GB's wins this year Chicago, STL, Det, Cle, Dal, SF, Det,Bal, Chi, Sea, ARi.

That's 3 teams with winning records and I think we can both agree yesterdays game was meaningless. So 2 impressive wins, Dallas and Bal.

Yes you didn't get 6 games against STL, SF and SEA, you got 3, but the Cards didn't get to play Det and Chicago twice either, and we didn't play Cleveland. ANd we didn't lose to Tampa Bay, Minnesota(twice).

Green Bay is good and yes they have a much better pass defense than the Vikings do, which is why I'm so glad the Cards run the ball so much better this year than last. It's going to be a tough game but the idea that the Cards just can't match up is silly, that's precisely what Falcon, Panther and Eagles fans told us last year BEFORE the game.

If the Cards play well and don't turn it over they can play with anybody.

I think GB showed us exactly what they're going to do on Sunday, and I don't think there's crap we can do about it. Hope not, but damn, it doesn't look pretty.

Well your a Packers fan off course you would take your team! But like I said just prepare yourself because you will be facing a team that you have not seen yet. You acknowledged that both games you have played us were essentially preseason type games where you have yet to play our starters against yours for any extended amount of time. If you think our D is like what you saw yesterday your in for a surprise, and we all know your defense is pretty solid but you will have to pick your poison to try and stop our balanced attack. Once we unleash a full gameplan with all our starters your defense will struggle to stop us the same as other teams have. I think it will be a great game between 2 solid teams it won't be a lopsided affair.

I admitted in the smack forum that I had a bit of fun.

Fair enough.

I agree with the fact the Cardinals don't match up well with the Packers. But be very wary of this Cardinals team.

You are talking to a board full the Cardinals harshes critics. There is not a Cardinal fan on this board that is not concerned about the Cardinals having "one of those games". But, we also know this team can play with ANYONE in the league.

After last season, we Cardinals fans have become used to the "you have no chance" fire and brimstone.

The only thing certain right now is that the game is on Sunday, and the Cardinals are going to show up to play.

The Cardinals defense was vastly underrated going into the playoffs last year. It's not nearly as good this year. It's odd to consider that the defense was the difference for the Cards in the playoffs last year, but after rewatching the games, it's completely true.

That's what it will come down to. I just don't think the Cardinals defense can stop the Packers offense. With Rodgers' mobility and intelligence and the matchups on the outside, I'm almost convinced. The guy has 14 TD, 2 INT since our tear started in that Dallas game. When we go 5 wide in the shotgun, snap it and the ball is out in 3 seconds or less, there isn't a team in the league that can hang with us, and certainly not the Cards secondary.

As far as running on us... an NFL best 3.6 YPC on the ground. Wisenhunt can try, but I don't think that would be a wise approach given those numbers and the matchup issues presented to the Pack when you get our nickel and dime backs on the field.

You're going to have to put it in the air early and often and live or die by it. If you can scheme a way to keep pressure off Kurt, there's an opportunity. But the Packers also have an NFL best 11.72% of opposing pass plays result in either a sack or an INT.

Save the Pittsburgh game, the defensive show we put on versus the scrubs yesterday is the same thing we've been doing to starting NFL offenses since midseason. That's why I'm so confident.

I think this rematch(like the other 3) you can't take them for face value in the rematch. this is rare....almost like a playoff series. how many times do you see teams rebound after a loss?? what makes it strange is that all 3 teams were blown out. the cowboys eagles game was the only one where the starters played from start to finish. of corse the bengals have to throw in the towell which makes it even worse. I think the cowboys are a better team than the eagles, but that doesn't mean they will win.

now for the packers/cards? this game is void because the cardinals hof qb did not play.....the packers are in for a major letdown if they are looking back to this game where matt leinart played. I like the cardinals and bengals to win their rematch games this week. I'm scared to pick dallas, but this team seems to have a different vibe than all of the prior playoff teams since 1996.

One thing I will leave you with. In 1992/93 the houston oilers were in a must win situation at home. They knew that if they beat the bills they would go to buffalo and play as a WC team. They blew them out 27-3 and knocked jim kelley out for 2 weeks. Do I need to follow up with their epic game that followed? anything can happen in the rematch....and I think 2 out of the 3 rematches will change results.

From what I understand, heard this on The Heard this morning. Only one team has ever won back to back in this type of a situation. Not that it matters, but I was suprised to hear that a little bit.

Interesting as I believe Dallas has a better chance than either us or the Bengals of winning this week.

The defense was NOT underrated last year, it played a lot better in the playoffs than it did in the regular season. I don't know why but it was clear as day, better pass rush, much better run defense. the problem this year now is injuries to Hayes and Dansby.

I love Rodgers you don't have to sell me I wanted the Cards to draft him hell I thought SF should have taken him #1 overall, I'm a Cal fan I know how good he is. But I also know he's never been in this sort of pressure before and it's impossible to know how he'll react. He might play great, he might not.

The Vikings had the best run defense in the NFL and the Cards were able to run on them, and Henderson got hurt DURING the game, they were running on them before he got hurt.

I think you fail to grasp why the Cards got better this year. It all started when Ben Patrick came off his 4 game suspension. Then the Cards could play their 2 TE sets more often, since Patrick is a viable receiver and a good blocker(Becht is a great blocker but marginal receiving threat). Since then the Cards have been VERY effective in the 2 TE set. Against Minnesota they averaged over 8 YPC from it. The Cards are MUCH more balanced now than before, yes we like the 4 Wr sets too but it's not like last year where we simply couldn't function except in that formation.

GB is very good, in no way do I expect the Cards to walk away with this game. But the game is very likely coming down to one thing, turnovers, most NFL games do. GB is very hot, but they're not unbeatable, Pittsburgh put up over 500 yards of offense against them recently, if the Cards don't beat themselves with turnovers and penalties their offense is every bit as good as Pittsburgh's is.

I expect a close game.

I haven't read this whole thread and while Aaron Rodgers scares the hell out of me, I do think the premise of this thread is ignorant. I have a Packer fan friend and this is what he wrote me this morning.

RE: Waste of a Win

Did it seem a little like the experienced coach showed up the young guy who's trying to impress everyone? Arizona sat back with their notebooks open while Green Bay pounded away. I don't feel confident about next week because of this.

I thought that was apt.

Bottom line is no out come at all would surprise me in the NFC. Every QB is good enough to carry his team (yes even Romo) to the Super Bowl.

But I'll take our coach and QB over anyone. Go look at how they both perform in the playoffs. (Wiz az OC and HC and Warner here and with the Rams) and you'll feel better too in this tournament.

I think Danthepackfan is a Cardinals season ticket holder. He was sitting in front of me yesterday, admitted to being a season ticket holder. that is douchebaggery at its finest.

Ditto! McCarthy seemed to a have a little big man complex yesterday and he was going to win no matter what. I kind of laughed at people saying before hand he wouldn't play to win. That ain't him. Just look at the way he leads the league in sending in tape in after games questioning all the penalties his team takes. He is so competitive, I'll bet he can't let is wife get the last word. This is the guy who fired a long-time Packer employee over an offhand remark after all.

:yeahthat: I like when you post Russ, I usually agree and it saves me a lot of time thinking and typing... ;)

I would add: ...and this year's Cardinals D is better than last years... Campbell > Smith; McFadden > Hood/Green; Rolle 09 > Rolle 08; and not finally, Davis > Pendergast.

The biggest obstacle we probably have to overcome is the iresistable pull of a Packers Vikings playoff matchup, requiring all other Washington General type teams to lose on the way to the network orgasmatron such a show would facilitate.

Beware this more than anything.

And please folks, stop bashing all Packer fans for the crap one or two post here. AZ fans seem to be knowledgeable and quite decent, you should know Packer fans are too, it's always a huge embarrassment when some schoolboy posts on an opponents forum.
And hey Tukee? Get with it buddy, that's not douchebaggery, it's fandom. Packers have one of the best traveling fan bases in the NFL. People like that the fans own the team, the Green Bay Packers are not just a local team but an international team ok?
I also root for the Chargers as I have always felt every fan should have a backup in the other Conference. So if I lived in San Diego, I'd probably get season tickets there too. Well I did live there so I did follow them.
I agree though, AZ fans on this site have been very polite, that trash talk is just boring, it's great fun to analyze along with you guys. I have no interest in trying to take away the hope you have.
Let's go play the game, and yes, if we lose, I'll be back here because I know I'll not get trash talk from you guys.
I just hope everyone is healthy so we all have no regrets.
