Well check your facts because SF beat us 2 times so, and don't act like getting to beat up on Bears, Lions isn't similar to Rams and Seattle! We won 10 games and you won 11 with us basically forfeiting the one yesterday. We are evenly matched and for you to assume you will be able to move the ball as you did yesterday is a pretty big assumption. We shall see come next Sunday but what you can expect is a much different Cards than you think we are.
ICan the Cardinals win? Sure. But if both teams bring their best on both sides of the ball, the Packers WILL win. Winning 7 of 8 coming into that game does a lot for the confidence.
The two games versus the Cards mean next to nothing, but we won ten more without them, which is one more than you guys did, without the benefit of SF, Seattle, and St. Louis a total of 6 times.
I admitted in the smack forum that I had a bit of fun.
Green Bay is good and yes they have a much better pass defense than the Vikings do, which is why I'm so glad the Cards run the ball so much better this year than last. It's going to be a tough game but the idea that the Cards just can't match up is silly, that's precisely what Falcon, Panther and Eagles fans told us last year BEFORE the game.
If the Cards play well and don't turn it over they can play with anybody.
Hope you guys dont throw rocks at me, but I don't feel good about this game either. Call me a darksider.
Oh NOEZ! a Packers fan! Whatever you guys say.
Stop saying our Defensive starters WEREN'T in, thats clearly wrong.
Geez, rough bunch around here.
I think this rematch(like the other 3) you can't take them for face value in the rematch. this is rare....almost like a playoff series. how many times do you see teams rebound after a loss?? what makes it strange is that all 3 teams were blown out. the cowboys eagles game was the only one where the starters played from start to finish. of corse the bengals have to throw in the towell which makes it even worse. I think the cowboys are a better team than the eagles, but that doesn't mean they will win.
now for the packers/cards? this game is void because the cardinals hof qb did not play.....the packers are in for a major letdown if they are looking back to this game where matt leinart played. I like the cardinals and bengals to win their rematch games this week. I'm scared to pick dallas, but this team seems to have a different vibe than all of the prior playoff teams since 1996.
One thing I will leave you with. In 1992/93 the houston oilers were in a must win situation at home. They knew that if they beat the bills they would go to buffalo and play as a WC team. They blew them out 27-3 and knocked jim kelley out for 2 weeks. Do I need to follow up with their epic game that followed? anything can happen in the rematch....and I think 2 out of the 3 rematches will change results.
The Cardinals defense was vastly underrated going into the playoffs last year. It's not nearly as good this year. It's odd to consider that the defense was the difference for the Cards in the playoffs last year, but after rewatching the games, it's completely true.
That's what it will come down to. I just don't think the Cardinals defense can stop the Packers offense. With Rodgers' mobility and intelligence and the matchups on the outside, I'm almost convinced. The guy has 14 TD, 2 INT since our tear started in that Dallas game. When we go 5 wide in the shotgun, snap it and the ball is out in 3 seconds or less, there isn't a team in the league that can hang with us, and certainly not the Cards secondary.
As far as running on us... an NFL best 3.6 YPC on the ground. Wisenhunt can try, but I don't think that would be a wise approach given those numbers and the matchup issues presented to the Pack when you get our nickel and dime backs on the field.
You're going to have to put it in the air early and often and live or die by it. If you can scheme a way to keep pressure off Kurt, there's an opportunity. But the Packers also have an NFL best 11.72% of opposing pass plays result in either a sack or an INT.
Save the Pittsburgh game, the defensive show we put on versus the scrubs yesterday is the same thing we've been doing to starting NFL offenses since midseason. That's why I'm so confident.
I think Fitz Rulz needs to change his screen name to Fitzy Rulz
I haven't read this whole thread and while Aaron Rodgers scares the hell out of me, I do think the premise of this thread is ignorant. I have a Packer fan friend and this is what he wrote me this morning.
RE: Waste of a Win
Did it seem a little like the experienced coach showed up the young guy who's trying to impress everyone? Arizona sat back with their notebooks open while Green Bay pounded away. I don't feel confident about next week because of this.
I thought that was apt.
Bottom line is no out come at all would surprise me in the NFC. Every QB is good enough to carry his team (yes even Romo) to the Super Bowl.
But I'll take our coach and QB over anyone. Go look at how they both perform in the playoffs. (Wiz az OC and HC and Warner here and with the Rams) and you'll feel better too in this tournament.
I like when you post Russ, I usually agree and it saves me a lot of time thinking and typing...The defense was NOT underrated last year, it played a lot better in the playoffs than it did in the regular season.
The Vikings had the best run defense in the NFL and the Cards were able to run on them, and Henderson got hurt DURING the game, they were running on them before he got hurt.
I think you fail to grasp why the Cards got better this year. It all started when Ben Patrick came off his 4 game suspension. Then the Cards could play their 2 TE sets more often, since Patrick is a viable receiver and a good blocker(Becht is a great blocker but marginal receiving threat). Since then the Cards have been VERY effective in the 2 TE set. Against Minnesota they averaged over 8 YPC from it. The Cards are MUCH more balanced now than before, yes we like the 4 Wr sets too but it's not like last year where we simply couldn't function except in that formation.
GB is very good, in no way do I expect the Cards to walk away with this game. But the game is very likely coming down to one thing, turnovers, most NFL games do. GB is very hot, but they're not unbeatable, Pittsburgh put up over 500 yards of offense against them recently, if the Cards don't beat themselves with turnovers and penalties their offense is every bit as good as Pittsburgh's is.
I expect a close game.
