Under ESPN Insdiers truth and rumors NBA section, the headline made it seem like Amare isn't happy with the amount of attention that he is getting in comparison to Shaq. anyone have Insider?

While I generally think these sorts of complaints are silly, I suppose Amare does have some beef. On the Suns pregame set for instance the desk has pictures of Nash and Shaq, but not Amare. I understand they've both won MVPs and are Hall of Fame locks, but anyone with a brain knows Amares much more important to the Suns than Shaq. At this stage in their careers Amare is the much better player, and ought to be featured more as the face of the franchise. But because Shaq has a big personality, big name recognition, etc. I suppose the franchise wants to put him out in front in terms of marketing.

That is more about him seeing the league promoting other guys. It is not him feeling like Shaq gets too much attention.

Nothing to see here.

Ah, I was just guessing as I don't have Insider. Though he's right, he doesn't get as much promotion by the league and its media outlets as other players of his level. Part of that is because he has Nash on his team, so most conversations about the Suns begin with Nash. The other is because whether or not he wants to admit it, Amare is not a good public speaker. His lack of education shows in interviews, and he comes off a bit overly cocky (obviously all athletes are confident but he often seems arrogant), so that doesn't really help. Barkley was cocky too, but he had a certain charm to him, Amare seems more like the typical jock with a head full of rocks.

It's hard to determine if he needs to shut up. Then again they got to the WCF without him one year, even though they played the clips and the lakers. It's more of a leader role I guess, he does the talking by being the high scorer in most of the Suns games but doesn't have a leader attitude yet so I guess it's fair that Shaq and Grant took that over him.

I think it's funny that I'm the 14th post on a thread about a single headline from an article that apparently nobody has read. AND is labeled as a rumor on top of it.

Suns fans amaze me more and more every year.

Please! The guy is always talking about one thing or another instead of shutting his mouth and actually accomplishing some of the stuff he is always preaching about. He is more mouth than complete player at this point. I like Amare he can be a dominant offensive play unfortunately its not just about offense. I don't need to read an article to know if a guy is bitching about attention 3 games into a season he needs to shut his trap and play ball. He has been saying for years he was gonna work hard to be a great defender I guess he doesn't have time for that ... too busy talking!

No kidding. I read the actual article that the quote came from, as well as the insider "rumor mill", and I can tell you this is absolutely nothing.

But, you're right, people get worked up over nothing just because it's more fun to bitch and moan than to just sit there and watch.

Nashman - Are you drunk today or something? First the incessent need to discredit Hightower's performance in todays game and now this?

Amare was talking about lack of attention AROUND the league. Like he doesn't get lumped into the up and coming superstar talk.

He is partially right. Simmons is the only writer who gives him that kind of love.

This has nothing to do with the team.

He has his chance this year to move his name into that conversation.

Shut up about what? "There is an article on ESPN rumor mill( that might never ever come out as real news), the guy SHOULD be bitching again."

You are clueless about what he said.

There is the article, "Feeling left out." Left out about basically nothing. He is not in a situation from couple years ago where he wasn't receiving the same attention as Nash/Marion. He is clearly our best and most valuable player, and he knows it.

The only possiblity I see not getting picked up as one of the captains. It should be frustrating considering he was one of the captain last year. But they picked the right guys.

He has always had the me against the world attitude. It just manifests itself into complaining about trivial things. Apparently, scoring 25 and grabing 10 boards a night isn't enough for him.

You guys surprisingly assume I am talking just about his latest feeling unappreciated. Before you know it he will be just like Marion just shut up and play ball. No I was not drunk its just WAY WAY to early in the season for ANYONE to feel underappreciated and talking to any reporters about it. Amare is all about himself he needs to be all about the team and basketball and he might end up earning some attention..

I just think amare is getting himself motivated, so what. He does look really alot better than last year physically, he looks stronger in the his lower body, like the micro is finally healed. I have a feeling that he is about to go out( and go off) and earn the respect he's talking about around the league. He actually was too physical for aldrige, just too strong. That did not happen last year. Time to go get that respect amare, go get 'em.
