If Amare is truly done, and I'm not saying he is, but if he is, the Suns are going to be financially handicapped for a long time. We can't have Diaw, Marion, and Amare's contract on the books at the same time for more than 1 season or so regardless, but we're totally screwed if Amare can't play.

If Amare can't play, a trade might be necessary where the Suns might have to trade a high salaried player to a team that can absorb the salary without any player returning... except perhaps pick(s).

Yes, it would be a total bummer. I don't think trading KT would get the job done long term salary wise so it might have to be Marion. However, I think the Suns have to keep Diaw as he represents the future of this franchise (IMO).

I'm not sure when and how the disability insurance covers a player's salary...
if it could help. Maybe the signing of a possibly injured Amare by BC is what peeved Sarver so much.

Here's a question I had--I remember them saying that today might not be such a hard practice because of the travel time of going from Treviso to Rome. It could be that he sat out because of the long ride down there. He has complained about that before. Coro has suddenly become an alarmist, so we'll have to see what the sound bites are tonight or tomorrow. Of course, most everyone here will not believe those sound bites, although they accept perfectly that Coro is the only one who is right.

in Today's NBA you're wrong.

eventaully you have to pay young players - give him 10 and call it a day. We all saw what the kid could do if the offense is run through him - think about it - it was his FIRST EVER TIME IN THE PLAYOFFS and he averaged 18, 6 and 5 - that's pretty damn impressive... and all this with a spotty jumper. The kid is a slightly shorter version of Danny Manning, who was an all-star when healthy. Pay him the damn money.

I figure a 5/9.5 million dollar contract would be fair if not a bargain for Diaw.

If 5/9.5 is a bargain, wouldn't a 5/10 be just about right then?

I don't think he's worth 10million, but we should jsut sign him to it anyway and move on.

that's not really fair Chap - it's not like we haven't heard DA make statements downplaying Amare's return either. We're just getting random up and down news from everywhere and no one knows what to make of it - and after last season where we got up and down news and saw the result, I don't think you can fault people for people for fearing the worst, can you?

No, you're right, you're right. You know me, I always try to find something to be optimistic about.

Here's a quote from Suns.com:

The Suns practiced for the final time in Treviso on Wednesday morning. The team travels to Rome on Thursday for the first exhibition against Virtus Lottomatica Roma on Friday.

If they are supposed to travel today (Thursday), then how could Amare skip a practice?

I certainly would not quibble over 5/10. If it gets it done, I agree, let's move on.

In fairness to Coro, reporting the Amare saga might make anyone an alarmist.

I'm going to hold off judgment until I hear something from a trainer or doctor. Amare, DA or Coro aren't experts and I will not pay attention to these alarmist articles until I hear from someone with a PhD.

Perhaps a PhD. from the University of Phoenix can offer some input. I understand the Arizona Cardinals may have some connections. :)

Yeah Amare isn't "expert" enough to know his own knee. If some doc came out and said Amare is 100% you all would be like "goooood I knew it was nothing"....Yeah drink that koolaid.

Don't some of you feel foolish for being duped by the Suns. NOBODY comes back from microracture quickly.....I dont care if some of you want to insinuate it was a "microfracture-lite" surgery and his leasion was small. Its was still microfracture!

Amare are you still ahead of schedule?

I am starting to think that Amare is full of crap. He needs a good kick in the ass. I am sick of this, "oh, my knee is stiff" He is worse than Kevin Johnson was.

Lets stick with the issues shall we?

I just hope you guys realize what a spin job the Suns and press pulled on you. I don't think Amares micro knee was ever ready to be back on the court. Just because his knee was healed doesnt mean it was 100% and ready for game duty. Because he wasnt truly ready all this compensation with his legs have been going on. Its from RUSHING things. Its like Amare comes off a major surgery and 5 months later is put in the dang Olympics or something. Its one thing to be healed and another thing to be ready....he clearly wasnt ready.

Kidd said it took him 18 months to get back fully. He said it takes "patience" to come back from that surgery.
