Didn't the Suns make Antonio an offer? My recollection was that they were hoping for a big 'discount' from market price because they'd essentially revived his career for him after the disaster he was in NY.

and i think the suns wanted to only make a one or two year committment, while McDyess was looking for an extended deal.

at the time it was smart for the suns to do. the pistons took a HUGE gamble giving him the MLE and 4 years. but it payed off in the end for them. it was crazy for ANY team to offer that much money to the guy based off of injuries.

It hasn't paid off yet. No Chips for MickeyD. I think we win the championship before McDyess does.

that would be like saying signing raja hasnt payed off yet.

McDyess has been a decent pickup for the pistons. in two seasons with them he's missed 5 games. his numbers arent AMAZING, but they are decent.

he's still overpaid, but he hasnt lapsed into an extended knee injury. i call that paying off.
