What a game for Amare as he scores a career high 50 points. He had some unbelievable dunks as the Suns beat Portland. This team is so much fun to watch.

That final shot was a turn around jumper that reminded me of Malone. We haven't seen that one much if at all. Absolutely incredible.

Way to go, WF. Good job getting him fired up!

I think it's because he wasn't our only big guy on the court. Hunter clearly made a difference in this game. Amare liked that. :D

I guess he's NOT lazy and does care! As talked about in another post. :D

well, that was taken way out of context. As far as I'm aware there was only one post talking about one game where someone said Amare has been playing lazy on the offensive end of the court.

Amare turned 22 in Nov. 2004

oh, i found it:

rick barry scored 50 at 21
so did AI
so did Mashburn

i guess amare is #4 on the list. i bet in the next couple months he'll drop to 5th as bron will get it.

That game was enormous fun to watch. Can't help it -- this team - and Amare - frequently make me grin from ear to ear.

ESPN just showed the list. Amare is number 4 on their list, but they didn't include Rick Barry.

Apparently Shaq scored 50 when he was a few days younger than amare though.

I just got home from the game and Amare was amazing. It was great to see D'Antoni playing Hunter & Amare at the same time (what a concept!). They really needed Hunter in this game and he made a big difference. The Suns were outrebounded 20-7 in the 1st qtr and a lot of those 20 rebs for Portland were offensive (Nine, I think). Also, the Suns defended the pick & roll pretty well tonight and there was very little penetration by Damon Stoudamire or Nick Van Exel. Amare didn't look like he held back tonight on defense, which was great.

Also, I thought CJ had a very good game tonight. His help defense rotation is very good and he's always hustling to the open man. I know he can get beat one-on-one sometimes (especially against bigger players), but I thought he did pretty well guarding whomever he was guarding (Nick Van, Stoudamire, Ruben Patterson, Derek Anderson, etc.)

Man, if Amare could make all his FT... 10/17, he'll break that 50-mark. 50 seems like a milestone for many players. Why not 51? LOL

Great job, Amare. Now, go practice your FT! :D

It's a great way to start 2005. :)

I am glad Hunter played a lot. Good!!!

Amare does more than just dunk. That's what stupid people think.

He only dunks 75% of the time.

least polished 50 pt scorer ever?

ai was pretty polished, so was mash, rick barry speaks for itself, and shaq (who was pretty young when he 1st did it) seemed pretty raw back then

i think regardless of what he said after the game, it doesn't get much better than that. i think overall, amare is about 60% of how good he's going to get, but tonight...how do you play better? i guess he could have missed NO shots, but, i mean, this is the stuff of legend.

i'm such a big basketball fan, and these 2 cats bron and amare come on and do things at such a young age, its absolutely unreal. what's more, one of them is in my backyard.

i think back to the quotes amare has had over the years, from the 'greatest player ever' stuff at the rookie press conference to teh stuff he said before training camp this year. he was saying in september that he'd worked on his game and this year we'd see crazy stuff, like triple teaming type of crazy stuff. i would read the quote and get hyped, but then be like 'c'mon, that's like MJ type of stuff'. then he goes out there and does it.

then i think he's played 2 years of ball in high school, and 2 years in the pros. what happens when he DOUBLES his basketball knowledge at the ripe old age of 26? he's not an arrogant ass (just a confident one...:) ), so we can rule the kobe-route out. he might go the KG route, but to me, this doesn't hold water, because amare's got more of a killer instict, leading to more 'mixing it up in teh paint', and more foul shots. i think in 4 years you'll see a player that's never been seen before. the player MJ would have been had he been 6'10''. not saying suns will win titles or anything, just that level of unstoppable. now if only he could give the effort of an MJ on DEFENSE...:)

Again, taken out of context. Nobody seems to get my point!

What a great game. I was watching the game last night and I just kept saying "whoa", "Wow", and "OOOOOOOO" as Amare was scoring- his dunks were unbelievable, he was hitting jumpers, turn around, fade away jumpers, leading the fastbreak.... WOW, this kid is amazing.

the funny thing is it didn't look like he was trying too hard. imagine if he had taken more shots in the third.

Big props to Amare from this Laker fan, but what is up with baltimorer?

The person before him posted the stats and he still got it wrong. :D

27 field goals attempted, 20 field goals made, 14 were dunks...

Using those stats...unless he missed a bunch of dunks, that means...in his 27 shot attempts he had 14 dunks, 6 made shots from the field and 7 missed shots from the field.

How do you get 75% from 14/27? Please show your work... ;)
