American Idol 7 Thread

David Cook was rushed to the hospital after last night's performance. He had high-blood pressure. He was under great strain because his brother, who's fighting cancer, had a setback this week.

Michael Johns was one of my favorites initially but lately he hasn't sounded that great to me. The judges liked him last night but I wasn't that impressed either. He is my mom's favorite. Mainly because she named me Michael John. Go figure.

during auditions I thought he'd win the whole thing. Then, for the first few weeks of the regular show he stank. But, for the last 2...maybe 3...weeks he's kicked arse, I think.

Brooke in the bottom 3 was a mild shocker. I personally think she is top 3.

However the bottom 2 was correct and the right person went home.

You know who bugs me? Carly. Yeah she has a great voice, but what's with those eyes that pop wide open at weird times while she's singing. I always yell "Ahhh!" when she does it. Plus, she bends her legs like she's pretending to be skiing when she sings. Bugs me to no end.

That, and she seems "unclean" to me for some reason. That's the word that always pops in my head when I see her. "Unclean." Think about it.

Yes, that's her.

I think Carly is like Jennifer Hudson from a few years back..... KILLER voice but she's all over the place. She needs to find a niche soon or she's done.

I really am not fond of Brooke, Castro, KL Cook, or Archuleta for that matter.

But in the end, if the two David's are in the finals, which should almost be a lock right now, then Archuleta will win in a landslide. No freaking way David Cook turns the crappy written-by-a-fan pop jingle into anything edgy. Idol won't allow it.

My guess on people who leave next are....

I love Carly..truly do. I think she's oddly sexy and her voice is just sick. However, her tat sleeve and her husbands tatted face are going to get her booted earlier than she should.

Voters are just too stupid to overlook that.

She'd actually be smart to wear something over it...long sleeve shirts, etc. Voters are just stupid enough to fall for the "where'd her tat go? she's wholesome now" angle.

She's probably my second fave behind David Cook.

I can't stand Carly and her freak-show husband/boyfriend/Tyson look-alike... She truly does zippo for me... Yes, she's got a better than average voice. But like pariak said, she's annoying in a strange... UNCLEAN way!

I I really like Brooke... She won't win as the David's will rule the show... But I hope she hangs in longer than people expect!

Carly is nasty. Her fat face with a jaw that looks as if it was transplanted from a doberman pincher bug the hell out of me. What bugs me more is the fact that she's a failed American Idol project and that they are desperately trying to recoup their previous bad investment which taints the show. Check out these videos.

Let it be known, I didn't say that her tats were bad. I think that is what makes her oddly sexy...like do you against a wall whilst drinking a pint of Guiness sexy.

But I don't think whitebread America will dig them, and will end up kicking her before others that she is better than.

I thought they all did really, really good last night. My least favorites were Carly & Kristy (Christy?) Lee Cook. Carly did seem angry (even my 8 year old said so before Simon (iirc) did), and I thought that took away from the intent of the evening. KLC was just dull. I thought she did a nice job, but whatever.

I had never heard Fantasia sing Syesha's song; I didn't watch AI that year at all, so I had nothing to compare to. I thought she did a fabulous job.

I liked Michael Johns--I was worried when he said Dream On...that's a toughie, but I thought he did pretty darn good with it. Not one of the best of the night in my opinion, but better than last week.

Unfortunately she's not the only one who's a retread. According to vote for the worst, Malubay was basically the last one on the cast who didn't either already have an agent or an album and that many of them had agents with connections to AI who simply used their connection to get on the show.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about Cook. He WAS bad. I felt sorry for him. I love Our Lady Peace, too, so I was hoping for a good performance.

My only other thought on Syesha is that I did NOT like how much the backup singers were used. I'm not wanting to hear them--I want to hear her, and I felt that they drowned her out through a lot of her performance.

Yep, I did notice that. I thought, "She should be singing AT LEAST as long as the backups. No way they should be finishing your song for you"

I wonder if that was part of the whole "I looked over at you" thing she was talking about. If it is, she's doomed. You've GOT to be better than that.

i'm honestly really not into this season - i think the talent level is better than years past, but really no connection to any of them

cook annoys the bejeezus out of me, but has been pretty solid and I don't care who's version he is singing if the judges want to slobber over them for originality it's their annoyance and on them (see blake last year and the 311 version of Love Song) - however last night he was terrible and the scribbling on his hand really turned me off

archulleta is talented, but who's his audience? - the guy has no pop appeal and I don't see him as someone who can pull of soulful, emotional performances either

brooke isn't the most talented, but she can connect on occasion

castro has grown on me in that he seems to be one of the few who knows what he is - i could see him having a long and decent career in the ben harper circuit

i thought johns stunk last night as well - imo, his only good performances are when he took on queen or some other "classic rock, bluesy type performance" - i could see him pulling off a cream song before aerosmith as tylers voice is so unique - and even though zepplin covers would seem like a fit, same circumstance with the voice - i really can't see him putting out a successful album - he's not a pop star guy and he isn't a rockstar guy - so where does he fit?!

i like syesha, but don't see star quality in her as a singer though

really there just seems to be a lot lacking from this group and I should be enjoying this season more than I am - it's weird
