I had this on in the background. What a ghastly group of male singers. Yuck. I like the beatbox guy though...he'll do something somewhere.

It's almost unbearable as background noise.

In the LA auditions they have their next American Idol: the guy that was the backup singer to Christina Agulera and sang "Maybe I Didn't Love You." He's going to win (he'll also lose those affectations he added to the song and just let his voice, personality and understated song-selection win out).
This is basically the advice the judges gave Brandon Rogers last night.

I still think he's going to win, though he's not as strong as I first thought.

He's the black guy? He was the only guy I could tolerate for a full song last night.

The one guy whose last name is Head needs to be kept around until near the end now. Then they can have all those teenybopper fans sitting in the audience holding up very amusing signs they're too young to fully understand.

Yup--I like him. But he really needs to not over-sing some of those notes.

You know, I didn't think overall it was THAT bad last night. I think for the first round, this is a pretty good group.

Also, I think you're going to be disappointed, Russ. Head ("Heed! Pants! Now!") is going to go home, IMO.

Just on the sheer potential for offensive signs they need to keep him around a few weeks.

Agreed 82. No way a dude wins this thing. What's with the 17 year old kid. How he made it is beyond me. He needs to man up and put a little bass in his voice. He's as soft as Cottenelle 2 ply.

My inlaws showed me an episode of the Grease reality show to show me how much more talented those people were than on Idol and they were right. This season of Idol is just really bad karaoke. The guys were garbage and I'm not sure the girls are any better. We need another Paula meltdown to spiuce it up. Someone spike her Coke.

I thought they said they bounced his sister, but damn if that kid isn't more chick than his sister was.

I didn't catch this guy you guys are talking about that was good. If he was, he must have really stood out.

Can any of these chicks sing? We put the show on background and the kids like to watch it since nobody's head is getting blown off or people getting raped so it's decent TV for younglings, but I am so not into it. If the chicks are as bad as the guys were last night, I may have to send them into another room if they want to watch. Ugh.

Oh god, I saw some of that Grease show and those people sucked out loud. I couldn't take it. That says a lot about how bad Idol is this year, because that Grease show was just very, very bad.

I'm not gonna say that the Grease show rocks or anything, but talentwise every performer that I saw was better than any performer on Idol.

If you're comparing it to this years Idol - I agree... Previously however, there has been a solid bunch of talent on Idol. We'll see what the ladies bring tonight. 'Course, the bar was set pretty darn low last night...

I still say the fact that someone on this years top 24 failed FOUR times previously to make AI tells you how far the talent level has dropped. Unless of course he was just really young when he started but I think he's 22 now which puts him at 18 the first year which ought to be old enough if you have talent?

So I watched for the first time this season last night, worst talent ever IMHO.

They were saying on radio today that they all sung much better prior to this so they're hoping it was a case of collective nerves. But I saw maybe the last 6 singers (started with the guy who sang Want to be me) and wtih the exception of the black guy, they were all bad.

One of the guys is on his 5th attempt(Filipino guy) at the show and finally made the final 24, on one hand you'd say he's improving, on the other hand you'd say the talent has declined so far that is the reason he made it now?

I agree that last nights show sucked. I think everyone tried to play it safe and chose really lame songs. Hopefully the girls will do much better than the guys did yesterday.

I liked the beat box guy from Seattle and the first black guy with the fro. Other than that I thought the rest were average at best.

That kid isn't as bad as he sounded last night. He picked a terrible song for himself. The kid is 17 years old and probably hasn't had a girl look at him twice yet he is trying to sing a love song. I had to laugh at Simons comment about "boring" being in the lyrics of the song he sang because I told my wife the same thing when he sang it.

In fact I must say that I usually end up saying the same thing as Simon 97% of the time.

The girls... Not much better. It's pretty telling that Simon told everybody else to start packing after LaKisha went. She was insanly good. I think the show knows too that she's bound to win too. her singing the Dreamgirl theme that's all over the radio and her going last proved that to me.

Boy, you guys are harsh. I think a couple of the guys were pretty good, and a couple of the chicks were fantastic.

There's 24 of them, folks. They're not all world-class. It's the same thing every year. You won't get a stellar performance from each contestant until the last few weeks. Remember how long Chicken little lasted?

Yeah I enjoyed the girls much more than I did the guys. It was really obvious which girls won't last long. It still blows my mind some of the songs these kids pick. Have they not watched American Idol before. It's all about picking the right song.

Yeah there is a lot of people who don't really belong there until you get down to the final 5 or 6. I'd say that there are about 4 really good girls and maybe 3 good guys when it's all said and done. The winner will be a girl this season for sure.

That's because of fan involvement in the voting, if the judges voted, chicken little would be gone.

Alot of this is PR, anybody else think it's coincidence that Antonella made the show and now she has "topless" pics on the net? Anybody can see she's not going to win the show or get remotely close but now AI gets some free pub with yet another "scandal".

Chicken Little was a good story his season because nobody could figure out why the hell he was still there.

I heard it on radio this morning. I "accidentally" googled it, you can't see anything.

I didn't even know who she was, I didn't watch last night. Apaprently the suspicion is her best friend, who didn't make the show, posted the pics.

This is a two person competition: Lekeisha and No-neck... the rest are pure crap...all of the men blow and the women only have two real singers...

with lakisha, like all beltors, i want to see how she does with the melodies and the actual soft part of songs - can she still convey emotion and power of voice during the bulk of the song - like sex, going straight to the climax can get old, you need that nice build up to it
