I'm an Eagles fan and I just want to say that you guys got yourself one heck of a football player. He was the best nickel corner in football and is perfectly capable of starting. He is a very good cover corner, he is fast, and he makes good plays on the ball. You will rarely see him get beat deep. Isn't much of a hitter, but then again that is a safety's art anyway, right?

He will come right in and be your #1 corner no doubt. Plus he is still young and will only get better. He also is one of the classiest guys you can ever have on a team. After being disrespected by the Eagles and benched for no reason, he never came out and said a bad word about anyone. He is a hard worker and does whatever it takes to win for the team.

As a kick returner he is pretty average. So if you were excited about his kick return abilities then you may have to tamper that a bit, but overall you got yourselves a steal. Some Eagles fans liked him more than Sheldon Brown and preferred Hood to start. Just make sure you treat him good, and get a good pass rush so he won't be left out on an island out there. I'll certainly miss Hood. If Lito or Sheldon went down, Eagles fans knew he could step in and we wouldn't miss a beat.

Thanks for joining the board, Hood! So you don't like returning kicks, it seems...

Thanks for the insight. My father had an igles fan over his house yesterday and I kept calling over there to try to get some info outa the guy but he didn't have much to say about Hood. After reading your post he was probably still pissed over losing the guy. Thanks a lot.

Time for Dad to step in. I had an old friend over to watch the Big East Final. He's a die hard Eagles fan. He said he wished the Eagles had kept him, but that Hood just didn't play enough last year for them to make that commitment. He personally liked Hood a lot & said his cover skills were very good. I mentioned that it was probably more a depth signing on the part of the Cardinals. He felt it was a solid signing & that Hood has enough upside to do more than just add depth to the secondary.

again, most eagles fans I know (which is a large amount)never really heard of the guy.

Thats crazy. Obviously they aren't very hard core Eagle fans. You think there is a single Cardinal fan here who couldn't name our nickel DB?

Everything I've read said something along the lines of him being one of the top nickel backs in the NFL...if not THE best.

not caring about losing him is one thing, never hearing of him is crazy.

One of my friend is a huge Eagles fan and he's basicly saying the same thing that most are saying.

He says Hood is a very good cover corner and should be good enough to be a #2 CB in the NFL.
Don't expect him to make a huge splash as a returner. He solid as a returner, but nothing more.

I guess I phrased it the wrong way. They knew of him, but did not know much about him. Meaning he was there but it was a name you never heard wathcing the game.

Definately not hearing the worst "best" anything coming out of any of their mouths. And some of them have been season ticket holder for more than 20 years. Id say hard core.

Route36, I think you're overstating him a bit. He's alright, but I would have rather had Nick Harper, any day of the week. Hood had an atrocious game against the Saints which is my lasting memory of his tenure as an eagle. He is what he is, which is a solid nickel corner. my hopes is that he'll push himself now that he has a chance to shine. Ask any of us how the last ex-eagle worked out. And I don't think Hood is all that much better than Ware.

I'm not an eagles fan and I knew about the guy. I know two HUGE Eagles fans here at work. They both thought that Hood was a quality player and didn't want to see him go.

First of all Nick Harper is going to demand some serious cash and the Cardinals have already stated that they were not going after a Big name CB.

Second, Hood is a completely different player than Ware. Ware is a big physical CB where as Hood is more of a smaller cover corner. He will be able to match up better with the speedier WRs and cover man-to-man. That was something that the Cards were lacking until they signed Hood.

Good point on the Ware/Hood comparison MadCard. That being said, the picture I get from those on the board is the impression that he is an above average coverage guy. He is a very good tackle, and gifted athletically, but Green to me has way more upside. I will be furious if EG or Antrell loses out to this dude.

Well, to be fair, we never used the same guy in nickel packages. Sometimes it is Green, others Ware, recently Francisco has been used too.

If Eric Green could consistently play like he did against da Bears, he'd be the #1 CB on the team, case closed. It was the best game played by a Cardinal CB in the last three years. Unfortunately, he hasn't.

As long as everyone has the same oppertunity to win the starting job I will be fine with whoever ends up starting.

aka: may the best man win.

I hear ya MadCard, and stand in agreeance. Hey, even though he was a sworn enemy last year, he is after all a Cardinal now. Gotta stand behind him.
