http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/256451-pats-a-destination-for-fitzgerald

As if this season isn't a huge swift kick in the nads already. It is already understood this is just BS, and is really nothing to get bent out of shape about. More of a complaint about how this will be the headlines all offseason long. Nothing but stories about who is leaving AZ and how fast they can get out of town.

Seriously, so tired of this stuff.

I will tell you this, we have 2, count them, 2 core players. Dockett and Fitzgerald.

If Fitz leaves this offseason, I don't know how anything the Cardinals say or do will ever regain the smallest amount of trust in the organization, take away the "Same ol' Cardinals" mantra, or ever get the label of CHEAP off the owners of this organization.

Just a shame that this will be the "big news" from Arizona all offseason long.

:bang:

Perhaps one day the football gods will give us a player who wants to be "THE GUY" that turned this organization around and produced a Championship to one of the most unsuccessful sports organizations of all time.

Sorry to rant, but this week, strictly football wise, is VERY depressing.

If you are tired of this why are you giving it legs? It's Patriots.com that posts

If Larry Fitzgerald is shopped by Arizona...
There isn't even a rumor that they are using or quoting. All we need to do to add to the rumor is start threads on a message board.

If I had a penny for every "Fitzgerald is getting traded" rumor I've heard circulated this time of year, I'd own the Cardinals.

He's reportedly been heading to Minnesota since 2006. Now it's the Patriots. The rumors about Fitzgerald's eminent trade will sadly continue until the day he retires a Cardinal or suits up for another team.

Fitz isn't exactly a deep threat anyways. Pats need a separation receiver, something he has NEVER been.

I'd rather have a killer QB, in fact if I could package him to get Luck I'd do that.

There's one way out of this mess, tons of new talent, hit after hit in the draft, that's all that's going to make us consistently better.

I'd rather focus on running the ball to be honest with you, he's a great WR, but WR's just don't usually carry teams.

Oh, now there's an idea for a thread. Say Carolina will trade us picks but only if it's their pick for our pick and Larry Fitzgerald?

Cause it is Cardinals related, and I figured to throw it up there.

Just sayin' it would be nice to have article about our team that don't involve, said good player going to some other place.

The #1 problem I have with this very logical, and correct way of thinking is that our front office blows pick, after pick, after pick, year, after year, after year.

Same here, but you need a good defense, IMO, to pull it off.

I'd rather wait and pick a QB up in the second round.

I like Luck too, but trading Fitzgerald to get him is cutting off your nose in spite of your face.

You'd have a potential franchise level QB to groom, but who would he throw the football to? Breaston? Doucet? Roberts? That's creating a major hole to fix another one.

I know. i didn't mean to come off as argumentative but it is their fan board saying "What if..."

If anything, we should be happy that we have a player that others keep talking about getting because he is so good.

I'd rather wait a few picks more and go after Mallett or pick a QB up in the second round.

It's a hell of alot easier to get good receivers than it is a good QB. Luck is the only "sure thing". Say we draft Mallet or Locker and they flounder like many scouts say they will. I would say that we are worse off than having the QBOF with middling receivers. Who were Bradford's receivers this year?

^^^ Yup. If it cost Fitz for Luck, thats a no brainer. QB is #1 impact on the team.

The only "sure thing" in the NFL is the player who has established himself.

Leinart was a sure thing coming into the NFL. So was Joey Harrington, JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn and Alex Smith.

If we go into next year with a similar or slightly better QB situation and Fitz, our offense will suck again.

Luck to Leinart isn't the best comparison. Luck is considered by every scout that I've heard and read as the best prospect since Peyton, maybe better. Leinart was so good that he lasted until the 10th pick in the first round.

^^^ No he wasnt.

Really?

Coming out of USC, he was dubbed by some talking heads to be "the greatest QB ever to step foot on a college football field" and "destined for greatness on the NFL level." He played too in a pro-style offense and won big in it.

Don't let revisionist history cloud your judgement. Leinart was highly heralded coming out of USC.

Yeah, even Tom Brady couldn't make this Fitzgerald bum look good. The Pats would probably convert him to safety.

regardless, he is still an untested rookie, and a very young one at that.

That wasn't a dig on Fitz. Fitz is not a speed receiver who stretches the field. Thats what the Pats need, and Fitz isn't it.
