And again lets be serious when the hell has Matt Leinart been given an opportunity to run or succeed in this offense? In his very limited 2 preseason starts? Where he completed 10-13 passing with no turnovers facing nothing but the blitz and OL playing terrible and NO running game, no Beanie, and no Fitz or Doucet? Really is that what your basing this on? Don't say he has been here for years because he had no chance to do anything when Warner was here except 2 games last year in which he played well in both!

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but it seems quite obvious he DOES know what he has in Leinart by now.

Touche'.

If he DOES know what he had in Leinart and replaced him with Anderson??? ANDERSON?

No, his actions have for the most part worked. I probably should bite my tongue because he has been right way more than he has been wrong. I just don't see the long term benefit from this one.

I mean his actions during the off-season where we almost traded picks and gave a decent contract to a QB speaking volumes about his "confidence" in Matt.

I just think Wiz is at his wits end here and doesn't believe in either QB. I know I sure as hell don't.

You missed the point cheese DA had a temendous amount of help putting up mediocre numbers with stud WR's catching some tough balls and making huge plays. He has SUCKED HIS WHOLE CAREER go look it up if you need too. Geesh they didn't want the guy hell NO ONE did thats how we got him to be a backup. We don't have deep threats why the hell would anyone want to keep a guy whose only upside is he can throw a deep ball....who is he going to throw it too? Last I checked we don't go deep often for a reason!

he sucked in the Jax game where he came in... he sucked in the Bears game where we had to actually put Kurt back in the game... he sucked in the Rams game where he couldn't even muster a single point in an entire half after Kurt got knocked out... he was ok, leading the offense to a whopping 10 points against Tennessee and he was horrific against the Packers in the last game of the season.

Jusat heard from the horses mouth..for what it's worth. Matt is not his guy. This is not a test,,not a surprise to those in charge. If Anderson does well expect the Cards to trade Matt if they can. Whiz prefers DA!

I definitely think Skleton can be the QB of the future so I don't want him going on the PUP squad neither Hall if I had my choice. I'm just not excited by Leinart and DA so I am not enthused about keeping both.

Hall would be the PS guy. Skelton is a lock.

I just don't think the fact that he's been here and knows the system makes him definitively more qualified, especially since he's looked mediocre to AWFUL in his only chances at running the system.

that alone doesn't make him more qualified IMO and not in the rest of the team's either apparently.

How else did St. Pierre land a roster spot ;)

With what he has accomplished with this franchise he's about as infallible as they come.

I believe he deserves the benefit of the doubt, and I'm trying to do that here. For all we know, this could be the move that motivates one of these guys and saves the season. Still, I can't help but fear what will happen if Derek Anderson is the starter this season. I really wish I could, but I've watched the guy since college. I have absolutely no faith he can be successful for a full season.

Exaclty my feelings...

Thanks Loyalty. Why isnt anyone asking this same question. We dropped 4 mill to sign a pompous over-the-hill Guard who can't pass block but ignored the opportunity to acquire McNabb or Campbell. If Whiz didn't have faith in Leinart, why wasn't a move made to bring in a starting QB?

Maybe so. It's why I'm scared as hell about this year after being pretty confident.

This type of talk is hysterical and really serves to expose those who understand team sports, and those who don't.
Whiz played the game thru college and the NFL. As a coach, he's been around a tremendous amount of successful coaches. With the Cards, he is arguably the best thing to happen to this franchise since they moved here to the desert.
Whiz, rightfully so, has concerns about Matt. Matt has had morre than his fair share of opportunities to earn the respect of his teammates and his coaches. Your rants only serve to further what many despise in Matt. That he should be the ordained starter simply because he was a first round pick, tagged with the "most NFL-ready QB to ever come out of college" banner, and studied under a future HOFer in Warner.
Can you even begin to fathom that maybe, just maybe the head coach is perfectly in tune with his team and its key players? Could you possibly weigh the potential that Whiz views Matt day in and day out, in camp and in games. He see's how Matt leads (or doesn't). He see's how other players react to Matt (good or bad). He see's Matt's performances (or lack thereof) in games.

IMHO, I see this move as Whiz doing EXACTLY what I want my head coach doing. DEMANDING NOTHING but EXCELLENCE! Anything less is simply not accetpable.
And before you guys jump all over me - No, I don't believe DA will produce "excellence". However, I do believe that DA will demonstrate excellent effort. I do believe that DA will demonstrate the type of want-to and the type of on-the-field leadership that Whiz (and virtually ALL NFL coaches) require from their starting QB.
And, whole some might consider this nothing but biased speculation, I do not at all discount the potential that certain players "whispered" in Whiz's ear...
God Bless Whiz! Keep rolling like you do CKW!! You Rock!!

We're asking. There just isn't a viable answer right now.

I am sure Matt's trade value (with his salary) is probably very high. Maybe we can get a 7th round pick in 2018

It's not that simple. Some people need the right coach, situation, opportunity and luck to be a NFL QB. There are those that took a really long time to be an 'NFL QB.'

Kurt Warner?

Many players never get that chance. If Trent Green never had his knee blown up in St. Lou KW is probably still bagging groceries & the Lambs would never won a Lombardi. I bet we look back on this in 5 years and wonder why Leinart was never given his chance.

Oh, trust me, I'm extremely discouraged by this turn of events, but not particularly surprised.

Our only hope for success this season was for Leinart to step up and own the job. Clearly, he hasn't done that, and at this point the bottom line is, he just isn't an NFL qb. People here will continue to make excuses for him, but we'll see if he goes somewhere else and succeeds. I doubt it.

There is a small chance that DA has a decent season, but I just don't see it. He's a pitcher with one pitch, a 99 mph fastball.

Unfortunately, until we get a quality starting QB, we're going to be one of the also-rans in the NFL.

If they don't give Leinart a true chance to be the guy, well its just beyond dumb. We know DA sucks so whats the point really in not giving Matt a true legitimate shot at being the QB, hell if he sucks you would know it after 4-6 games then you just go with one of the young guys. To write him off before giving him a chance is just stupid and I for one hope our coach is not so arrogant and stupid to not give him a chance just because he isn't one of his guys.

According to several on the board Leinart has had his chance which I find laughable.
