I guess we should take this with a grain of salt coming from a douche like Jason Cole over at Yahoo!, but:

• Arizona quarterback Matt Leinart(notes) will have much to prove as he enters his fifth season in the NFL and replaces Kurt Warner(notes) as the Cardinals starter. One teammate recently gave Leinart little chance to become a successful player or even a good leader. “A complete [soft guy],” one Cardinals player said. Ouch.

I think it depends on who it is saying it...if that came from someone like Boldin or Fitz that would be telling.

Ya, that is responsible journalism. What does that quote even mean? How does it merit mentioning in that article? That author is a complete (soft guy).

Well, that sucks to hear.

It was said by a coward whom will only say that in the shadows, but still, that is the worst thing I have heard about Matt Leinart from the locker room.

Whatever. Not all 60 people in a locker room are friends and they don't all sing kumbaya after practice. I'd love to know who said it. If it was someone like Ali Highsmith, who gives a damn.

Us fans were not the only ones spoiled from Warner's renaissance. The players benefited professionally and financially from his contributions to the team's success. It is natural to question change in any walk of life, especially one this significant. I hope Player X eats his words.

My pet peeve from a "journalist". The unattributed quote.

My pet peeve from anybody else. Shooting you mouth off but saying, "Of course you can't quote me on that." Own it or shut up.

The press and fans will be very hard on Matt, especially following Kurt. Let's give the man the chance to prove what he can do.

No big deal. Urlacher called Cutler a "complete soft guy" last year just before training camp.

And if Leinart can play as well as Cutler did last year, we are in GREAT shape! :) (sarcasm). Just kidding.

The guy who wrote this article is an idiot though. Just about everything in that whole link of his is laughable.

when you havent proven yourself -- stuff like this gets said

remember two years ago when Warner threw an off season party at his house and hardly anybody came? I think things worked out okay for the team as I recall.

What is the context? I mean Alan Faneca pretty much criticized the hell out of Big Ben before he had a chance to take a snap, Urlacher did the same with Cutler, and what were the Rams saying back in 1999 when Trent Green went down.

This is going to be a long offseason with this crap and Matt ain't going to be able to do anything about it until TC.

Besides with his track record with QB's the only guys buy in I need to hear on Warner/Hardy is Whisenhunt. No one else holds a candle of credibility to him IMO.

Coming from any player it is worrisome. If he is to be the team leader he needs the support of all the players. I would bet that Boldin and Fitz have some worries after playing for one of the best QB's in the NFL. Warner has a much stronger arm that Matt and has been very accurate. He can throw the ball accurately into tight coverage. We can only hope that Matt can do these things. He needs to be good right from the start or he will quickly lose the confidence of the real leaders of the team such as Fitz or Boldin if he is here.
