Spears is a solid but unspectacular defensive end. I doubt he is better than Antonio Smith and is certainly not better than Dockett. Given the emergence of Calais Campbell and Iwebema, I am not sure what he does for the Cardinals other than add another body in the mix. I beleive he will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season, so to keep him his price will go up.

Miles Austin is a marginal player who just tore his MCL and cant play for another 4 weeks at a minimum. One of the Cowboys principal weaknesses is that the have nobody who can take pressure off of TO. I am not sure what a marginal player at the Cowboys weakest roster position does for the Cardinals.

What that leaves is effectively giving up Boldin to trade up from the third round to the first round.

If we are going to trade Boldin, we should wait until before next year's draft, IMO. Like you said, I think we would be able to get much more in return.

Generalizing is the worst thing you can do here. Bottom line is....if the cards are stacked at wideout.....boldin is wanting to be traded so trade him. its the one position that we can afford to lose a player.

if we can get something back in return then even better. I love Q but he needs to go. remember too that a first rounder is nothing to scoff at....

He can, but run stuffing 3-4 DEs aren't exactly prize commodities. And this guy is no Aaron Smith (the prototypical 3-4 DE who will still get you 6-8 sacks). The board want to trade nothing and get Boldin in return, so I doubt they want to lose a starting DE.

If not for Fitz, I'd agree with you. But most NFL teams don't have two pro-bowl WRs and many of them do just fine. Having Boldin and Fitz is a luxury, not a necessity.

We need a solid #2, not a superstar #2. Crayton fits that bill, as does a host of other WRs out there.

IMO, most of us blinded ourselves to the fact that this sort of situation was likely to happen...especially once we got rid of Green and hired Whiz. Green's offensive philosophy (the ever elusive "system") was more conducive to keeping two high-paid WRs. Whiz's is not.

I agree that generally you dont need a superstar at #2 -- but I think the Cowboys well documented quest to get another WR isnt exactly a vote of confidence for Patrick Crayton.

i agree he is a proven star......but face it--he's not going to retire a cardinal and he's not happy. It is what it is. Youre going to have to realize that if/when we trade boldin.....the other team is immediatly going to have the upper hand because of the obvious dislike boldin now has for the organization.

people who are expecting to get equal value and/or greater value for boldin in return are just plain nieve.
