Is everything
that was overthrown in the third quarter where the cardinals could have slammed the door shut on the eagles . . . was that intentional to keep Q's value down?

At the time I was thinking perhaps Q didn't get far enough down field on that play and Haley thought his hammy might be slowing him down.

I've got one question:

What if before the season TO bitched and complained LOUDLY to the media about his contract and demanded to be traded and said he would never play for that team again and would never talk to it's coach again? And then later in the season in Week 2 before they played someone like... say... Miami, he basically said the same things... then with the Cowboys on the verge of going to the Super Bowl, he got taken out for a play and started just reaming Jason Garrett and then when the team won, he high-tailed it out of there, not celebrating with his teammates and left with Drew Rosenhouse. Do you really think y'all would be making excuses for him? Do yuou think that everyone on this board wouldn't be shredding him to pieces?

And before anyone brings up Q coming back in record time to play after getting his face broken... well, so did TO from a horrific broken leg which people thought he'd be out two months... and yet there he was in the Super Bowl.
Except that stuuff like that has been TO's M.O. his entire career, whiule Q's has been pretty much the opposite. i am not saying Boldin is in the right, just that i think that is an unfair comparison. Also, I dont think anyone has ever doubted TO's toughness in the least, the man is a beast (rhyme was unintentional).

edit--oops, my bad. I should have read the next page before responding.

if that's not the most absolutely ludicrous bunch of crappola, i don't know what is. yeah, let's examine this:

the cardinals . . . craving legitimacy for decades, on the verge of moving on to the superbowl, and playing subterfuge? they're making moves that could NEGATE EVERYTHING THEY ARE STRIVING FOR JUST TO STICK IT TO QUAN?!? holy crap that's just flat out stupid. for any publication or even internet website to type something like that is just mindblowing. those have to be the dumbest people on the face of the planet.

Agreed.

Some have implied for the Cardinals to "stick it to Q" during the Superbowl as well. How ridiculous is that?

The Cardinals have to use Anquan to his fullest potential and win the Superbowl by any means nessicary. If an organization can't get past petty squabbles and concentrate at the goal at hand then they are not much of a team. See Dallas Cowboys.

The Cardinals have had plenty of in house squabbles all year, and have done a great job of dealing with the issue, putting it to bead, and getting focused on the next goal at hand. I don't see this game being any different.

Just remember the media hype machine is in full effect during the Superbowl, the WILD speculation, and random conspiracy theories are flowing like the Nile.

The situation is what it is, how the organization is dealing with said situation is shown on AZCARDINALS.com. You have about 6 players, and Coach Whiz's take on the situation. Doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone except the fans and media.

All I care about is the Superbowl, and if the team and coaches are good, then I am good.

We can save the madness of the up coming offseason for offseason, which is not going to be here for another 2 weeks.

i remember that play. We were wondering why Doucet was in the game. Either way Boldin was wrong. It reminds me of a few year back in the NBA playoffs when Scottie Pippen wouldn't go in because Phil Jackson had called a play for Toni Kukoc to take the final shot.

I just watched a replay of the game on nfl network. anquan played hard. specifically on running plays he was blocking the best he could and sold a pass when he needed to.

Mike Sando has again distinguished himself --

apparently the footage shown on TV wasnt live -- it was at the 9:44 mark of the game. Just prior, there was a running play where Boldin jogged off the line -- next play, in goes Early Doucet. Exchange between Haley and Q ensues.

for me the ESPN site is running really slow today -- but here is the link

Rewatching the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game allowed for a closer look at the Cardinals' personnel decisions precipitating that sideline exchange between receiver Anquan Boldin and offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

I also saw how the context could be skewed without a reconstruction. Fox showed Boldin and Haley yelling at one another with about 5:44 remaining in the game. The clip was not live. Based on what Boldin told ESPN's NFL Live, we might trace the dispute to a sequence with more than 9 minutes to play in the game.

With 9:24 remaining, the Cardinals replaced Boldin with rookie Early Doucet. This came two plays after Boldin jogged off the line of scrimmage during a running play. Larry Fitzgerald had run hard off the line during the same play. Boldin, of course, was playing despite a hamstring injury. He probably wasn't going to be as consistently explosive as usual. And with Fitzgerald at his best, the offense wasn't going through Boldin anyway.

As Boldin told NFL Live: "I was not given any explanation why I was taken out. Like any competitor, I wanted to know why."

WOW!!

That is some manipulative B#######!!!!!!

This is why you gotta wait to hear the whole story. Talk about doing something to feed a story for the Superbowl.

Fox Sports should be very ashamed.

I'm not going to trade many years of Great play by Q, with an incident that happened for a few seconds in the heat of battle. It sounds to me like he still hurt , the coach saw and lifted him. Q being a great player wanted to be in the game. Selfish, yes. Forgivable, Yes! I hope we can work things out at the end of this magical year.

Having him on the side of Fitz and Steve is very thrilling. Can he be replaced, yes. Looking back at all the great runs and catches, blocks and flare for the big play, I would like to see him in Red. Will he? Only Q knows.

i like Haley even better. It shows that ANYONE that doesn't go hard is coming out and being held accountable.

:yeahthat:

Message to player: I am the coach, have a seat.

Q showed his ass, Haley showed his stones, and the football pecking order was established.

I think Haley made the right call, too. Q was not the threat he usually is and I don't think he had his head right either.

In my opinion, it does. What we saw was Boldin throwing a temper tantrum when the team was down and in the red zone, trying to get a go-ahead score. It was inexcusable. What happened was during a time not nearly as pressurized. Still bad, but not as bad.

Still doesn't justify him leaving early, though.

agreed. if it was just the yelling on the sideline, i get it. heat of the moment. still not good, but i get it. it's the leaving the celebration that's truly troubling.

Understood.

It upsets me though. That is some manipulative crap to make our team look worse, by Fox Sports.

Sorry, you know my stance on the speculation of this and that.

But when a fact like that is shown, it kinda pisses me off.

Show the game as is, and stop playing favorites. At this point the media is "rooting for ratings" and it is getting on my nerves.

And to say the timing of the situation on TV did not fuel the fire of this stories hype would be ridiculous.

Let's face it, after Haley gets his head coaching gig and Warner retires (on top), we're going to re-commit to the running game and a monster tight end is going to better suit us anyway (as opposed to another #1 wr).
It all sucks though right now with the guy, that's for sure.

not only his teamates but YOU GUYS. the ones who PAY HIS BILLS!

That doesn't concern me one bit. It's him that will have the regrets, not me. As long as his teammates don't care (and they don't, according to Fitz on Rome) then I don't either.

Boldin just deprived himself of some great joy and excitement. I didn't miss out because he left. Only he did. His loss, not mine.

agreed. that being said, if he drops one easy ball or fumbles once in the Super Bowl, his ass goes to the bench. Let's hope he takes all his anger out on the field and just crushes some DBs in his last moments of glory as a Cardinal!
