Since Bruce Arians is most likely phasing out the fullback, what will happen to Sherman? Can he convert to Tight End? Will he be outright released? Please share your thoughts

If he's judged to be key to special teams play; can morph into an H-back, he stays IMO. Could also imagine an attempt to trade him for a late round pick.

It's too bad he is solid. But I do like two TE formation, so many different looks.

He'd have a better chance playing MLB than TE. He's got more tackles in his career than receptions and carries put together lol.

Fortunately for him he is a solid special teamer and that could be enough to help him stay on the roster even if he is used less as a FB.

If he can't be a Top 3 special teams player, he's probably not going to make the final 53-man roster. Those are the breaks.

No big deal; Anthony Sherman is the definition of a replaceable player.

After all, it's not like he was drafted ahead of OT Marcus Cannon, RB Jacquizz Rogers, and CB Richard Sherman.

Oh, wait. That's exactly what happened. Steve Keim, Super Scout.

Speaking of Steve Keim, remember how we used a draft pick on Quan Sturdivant? That was dumb.

It'll be interesting to see how the 2011 draft ends up being evaluated in another two years. Some great players in the top 3 rounds.

It sounds like the new special teams coach likes using DBs more than linebackers. Makes some sense, but could also mean that the Cards are trying to get younger.

Can't see the need for a shot at Keim for the Sherman pick. The HC was writing the shopping list and his system called for a FB and, in this case, a solid ST's contributor. The needs have now changed.

Spending a 5th round pick on a fullback is always insanity. And the reports on draft day were that we had him rated much higher! Again, look at the guys that we had on our 120 board behind Sherman.

As the draft goes on, the more front offices and coaches rely on their scouts and personnel guys. It was widely reported that Rod Graves didn't watch tape. Do you really think that Ken Whisenhunt was scouting fullback prospects from forlorn programs in the offseason?

I certainly hope not.

If you somehow have the 120 list from that draft year, i'd love to see it. No one says that Whiz was scouting fullbacks personally, but may have expressed the desire for an upgrade. Now who is being obtuse?.

So do the Cards draft for need, or not?

Or are you saying that Anthony Sherman was appropriately rated higher than Marcus Cannon (now with the Pats), Jacquizz Rogers (now with Atlanta), and Richard Sherman (now a Pro Bowler)?

It's okay if you don't know who these guys are. Go look 'em up. They're all better than Anthony Sherman.

No idea where they may have fit on the Cards board.

And, if you can't resist condecension, please ignore my posts.

Why can't you take a fullback in the 5th round? And what about all the other teams that passed on these guys 4 times? (Richard) Sherman was a 1 in a 1000 pick, to be arguably the best player at his position coming out of the 5th round. (Anthony) Sherman is replaceable, but I wonder how many 5th round picks are still on their teams 3 years later, much less contribute anything?

Thatd be a horrible sign for the future of this new regime if they part with one of our most consistent and solid players just because he doesnt fit the new scheme.

Talent is talent.

If youre any good at your job, BA, youll find a way to use him.

His talent is in a two back system, which BA doesn't run. Maybe Whiz will have an interest in SD.
