Because most of the reputable talent evalutors graded Rosen coming out very similarly to what they've graded Murray. NFL.com had Rosen at 6.2 and Murray is a 6.25. Kiper had Rosen higher. Most of the places that are high on Murray like PFF are not as reputable among NFL experts.

I’m sorry but of all the arguments, this is the most ridiculous one I’ve heard yet. What makes you feel this way?

Maybe the fact that just barely a month ago he finally decided to pick football as his future would be a solid argument for this. Hardly ridiculous at all.

All of the great QB's had a strong desire to be the best. Murray doesn't come off as having that desire.
Wow - so he was the best QB in college football and won the Heisman without even having a desire to be the best? Imagine if he ever actually applied himself to football!

...dbs

Cool. Those are two conflicting responses from Josh. No? I guess its just me.. but I don't want my QB talking about football not possibly working out. Petty maybe.. but just my feelings on it.

so your potential QB with the fallback baseball career option doesn`t bother you?Double standard much?

Me thinks most of you worry needlessly about Murray or Rosen not turning out to be good enough to be our answer as a franchise QB. I think they are both extremely talented qbs who would make it big with the right system and coaches. I hope I am right and they both end up in the right place. I do feel Rosen would be better off elsewhere, say NY or Denver, and that starting anew with a successful franchise would be perfect for him, his personality, and qbing style.

Those are called options bro. I'm sure we all have fallback options..is he not allowed? He is literally a stud at two individual sports..to the point where the Oakland As were going above and beyond to get the kid to try and stay. I haven't heard Murray on record to the media stating that if football doesn't work out, he will jettison to baseball. Now, if and when he ever does.. I will eat my crow.

Nah man, he's really not. I wouldn't like it if my fiancé decided between myself and a multimillionare a month ago before deciding to commit. Probably wouldn't be my fiancé.

Nonetheless, I don't really believe in the guy skill-set wise, and I'd rather focus on the other talent on the board, leaving our options open.

Nice apples to oranges comparison.. lol. Either way, we can agree to disagree. Only time will give us the answer with all of this..

It's not that I'm anti-Murray. I just think it's silly to use 2 top 10 picks on the same position. Drafting Murray this season means we pissed away last year's draft. That we traded up for to boot. That's Browns level of ineptitude.

If you are an offensive coach and you can't make Rosen work...****.
If you are a new offensive coach who still clearly believes in the dual threat QB(his reference to L Jackson and the shotgun offense) and you need your offense to work to its full capability, you draft Murray. Imo.

I think Rosen's challenges last year were more based on his being a rookie and playing in a bankrupt offense. Nothing he could have done that would have lifted that Titanic.
I think Murray is a a fine quarterback, and should be drafted early by a team in need. He will play very well, and will likely only be limited by injuries if they occur.

I still think that we shouldn't draft him. The reason is that though their styles are different, I don't feel that the difference between Murray and Rosen is so very significant as to flush away the treasure trove that will come to us otherwise if we keep or trade the top overall pick. Let the Raiders have him. We'll clean up in the first two rounds, and turn this thing around pronto. Dropping Murray all by himself into the same offense we had last year will not solve anything.

The way he acts in interviews. Indecision on whether to play football or baseball. It's not ridiculous. All of the great QB's had a strong desire to be the best. Murray doesn't come off as having that desire. If he did then playing football would have been an easy decision for him. Pretty simple.
Nah not if you thought you were going to make millions more playing baseball. Once it became apparent he might be a first round pick he made his decision.

I love football. I enjoy baseball. If MLB had already committed millions to me but I didn’t know how football felt about me I’d be about baseball. The second I found out I was going to be a first round pick in football I’d change just as Murray did. In fact his having done so cements my opinion that he greatly prefers football as it likely pays him less over the long run and may result is less enjoyment of life later in life . . . yet he still chose it.

That would be great if that’s exactly how it went. His hype train had already begun and he still had yet to make a decision. Outright said he needed more time just 2-3 weeks approx before the combine. He knew he was a potential 1st at that point.

Speaking of if we pass there is no guarantee he is still a first round pick.

This has been mentioned many times..but even the pro day guys were mentioning it. This kid was raised to play football. He was groomed as a QB at an early age.

Also, it became apparent when Kingsbury was hired. Imo. He declares the next day and fully commits to football.

Which means exactly poo. Considering he couldn’t even get through a basic white board session without struggling.
