In the Cowboys game an incorrectly called Horse Collar Tackle was called that likely enable the Boys to get a TD before halftime. It marginally kept them in the game. An official in the booth could have quickly corrected that call. In the Lions game Goff was driving for at least a field goal again before halftime. The officials called a false start that overhead cameras clearly showed was offsides. Again costing the Lions likely points. Field officials don’t have that replay. Why doesn’t the NFL use a booth official to correct obvious errors? It would add only a few minutes, but get it right more often. The NCAA does it.

The NCAA reviews penalties?

Edited: I downloaded the 9 page official replay guide for college football...here's what's reviewable for fouls:

The XFL/USFL did it. Takes a few seconds and the game moves on. NFL don't care apparently.

100% agree. The call in the Detroit game was huge momentum changer caused solely by refs. Completely changed the complexity of the game. Lions would have at minimum had a Fg if not TD based on the way they moved the ball

I remain convinced that the NFL prefers poor officiating because it keeps people talking about the games. Whatever is necessary to “move the needle.”

Don’t forget the false start they failed to call on the TD the Cowboys scored before the half.

We need AI to officiate all professional sports games.

Full on, 100%, AI officiating.

For the NFL it would cover offensive holding, pass interference, catch/no catch, everything.

I can't wait.

right?? wire up a sensor grid in the stadium roof, then a sensor grid and rfid grid in the field...rfid's in the heel and toe of players shoes...and in both ends of the ball.
still gets sketchy when a guy is at the bottom of a pile at the goal line though
