Any Julius Peppers fans?

I think if Berry and Okeafor (to a lesser extent) can make the transition from DE to serviceable then a spectacular athlete like Peppers can make it look good. He's got the ability. I firmly believe that.

I'm not saying he'll be a Cardinal, but an signing an aging "name" player does sound like the MO.

Question for anyone who wants Peppers: Why would you want Peppers over Terrell Suggs?

If the Cardinals really want to pay top dollar (both guys are going to have to be money whipped) and make a big free agent splash, Suggs is the much safer option. First of all he's younger, by 3 years, and he wouldn't be trying learn a new position.

We all know that Peppers has crazy athleticism but no one knows if he can stand up and play linebacker. There are countless athletically gifted defensive ends who can't play with their hand off the ground and saying that Peppers can do that is pure speculation. My main point is that if you're going to dole out $8 million a year (or something in that neighborhood), I'd rather get a guy that I know can do the job, instead of guessing that someone can learn on the fly.

If it's between the two your absolutely right, Suggs is a safer bet, but he too was a DE at one point.

Peppers is used on occasion to drop back into coverage from a three point stance in the 9-spot to shadow the field.

I remember at least one of his INT's came this way (but it was a long time ago... 04 maybe?)
