What is this based on?seems like a safe bet that we are signing Josh Sweat from the eagles... I hope we still add another Edge or DT in the 1st round.

the logic is that Sweat fits into Gannon's scheme perfectly and the Cardinals will likely pay more than others would be willing, due to the perfect fit. There are several teams I fancy more. Josh Sweat ain't going to care he played for Gannon once.
Commanders would be my top pick.
Yeah… I’m pretty dubious this team goes out and signs the biggest/best edge on the FA market. That kind of move has never been the Cardinals’ MO, much less MO’s MO.What is this based on?
10.5 sacks combined in the past two years. Here's Swinson

Cards and Monti have never had this much cap space to spend... If he sits out the FA market again this offseason then he needs to pack up and find a new home.Yeah… I’m pretty dubious this team goes out and signs the biggest/best edge on the FA market. Agree I’ve been patient but it’s now time to take a bigger swing. He absolutely has to add some young blood to the front seven. I've been patient up until this past year, but I think it's plain as day that talent was the biggest issue with the Cardinals last year, particularly in the front seven.
I think Monti has done a good job rebuilding the secondary, he has managed the skill positions and overall depth on offense. I'll even be generous and say the most of the roster has some depth, but the team sorely lacks big time difference makers in key areas. The Cardinals desperately need a pass rusher inside and outside, and need a #2 WR, and have to replace most of the OL.
Monti is going to need to have a good offseason just to keep pace with the team's eight wins, let alone actually improve.

So, last year when you swore Monti would spend all the FA dough this year, that was, what? Just defending him so you could change your tune this offseason? You kept defending his tight purse strings because THIS offseason would be THE year, and now you're vastly underselling it. So which is it? Will he spend or was all that hot air you spouted last offseason? There aren't many "top guys" that fit what we need.
Trey Smith is a good player, but he's always played RG and I'd rather have Hernandez at $8m per year than Smith at $18m per year.
The best FA Edge is Khalil Mack. Josh Sweat is a below average Edge #1 and I'm really not interested at the money I expect him to get. I don't think he's as good as guys like Greenard in last years class and I'm super wary of guys that average about 8 sacks a year that play on elite D lines.
There are some good CB's, but we are fully stocked at CB.
There's a whole bunch of around 30 year old WR's that I'm not sure add a great deal.
If people are expecting some huge names I don't think they exist.
The guys I like for talent/value are,
Malcolm Koonce
Haasan Reddick (at the right money on an upside gamble)
Dre Greenlaw
Devin Bush
Ernest Jones
Will Fries (although I think Fries gets paid $15m+)
Hollywood Brown (If he will come back for sub $10m)
Darius Slayton (I like the idea of Slayton as an outside deep threat with Mike in the slot)
Dayo Odeyingbo
Chase Young
Azeez Ojulari
Calais Campbell (Dude still a beast, nice story)
Patrick Mekari
Patrick Jones
Sebastian Joseph-Day
This is the kind of pond I think the Cards will be fishing in and I think there's maybe 3 that get more than $10m per. Not sure how many people here would consider these big fish.
If I was to nominate a luxury pick it would be Chris Godwin.

Another issue only time will decide.I want to circle back to Princely. I said earlier I didn't like him and thought he was slow off the snap, while I've watched him some more and changed my mind.
He also sucks against the run and wastes a tonne of snaps. He's a situational pass rusher at best as things stand, only any good when he doesn't have to think and can pin his ears back.
He shouldn't go in the top 2 rounds. He's like Edge #12 ish behind guys like Bradyn Swinson and Josaiah Stewart, both of which I think are well underrated by draft analysts at the moment and go much higher than they think. In fact I can see Monti eyeing up both these guys in the 2nd if they go iDL in the 1st. Stewart especially I think will be right in Monti's wheelhouse.
At 6'1" and 248lb (Senior Bowl) he's not prototypical size but his tape is very good. For comparison this is pretty much Haason Reddick size.

Totally agree. Bigger needs to spend resources on. He’s a good, exciting player. However, the Cards have basic needs that must be addressed now.I agree on Deebo and I absolutely love the guy but unless I'm wrong he's going to cost too much in a trade.
I said it years ago and for a change I was actually right, the 49ers hosed him. He had a monster year 1400 yards and all the rushing numbers too but they played hardball with him on the contract saying he was asking for too much. My comment was simple, it didn't take a genius to see they were overusing him and his career would be shortened by all the use at RB and what a good blocker he was. I don't think he's played a full season since then and hasn't even gotten to 1000 yards since. That monster year he just took too much of a beating.
I still love the guy but we need a deep threat and he's not that guy anymore
My bigger concerns is that a few teams can now keep or tag guys who would have been on the market. With the cap going up, more teams will have money to spend. This hurts the chances of the conservative Monti snagging any top guys.
So we should expect Monti to be frugal in FA again and for you to defend that approach tooth and claw after you swore last offseason you would roast him if he didn't spend to the cap. Got it.I mean, I just listed like 15 players I think are good talents that will be available for reasonable prices. There's plenty of talent there.
But you all don't want talent, you want NAMES, and that's the problem with FA. Most fans want to collect names like Pokemon so they can brag to their buddies that their team signed X, Y or Z. See the repeated calls to sign Deebo when Deebo has been ass for 3 years. I'm not remotely interested in that. Most big name FA signings turn out to be garbage value. I've ran the numbers and it's like 80%.
Actually, it's not only names, but money. Fans think that a guard you sign for $18m a year must be much better than one you sign for $5m.
The top 10 big names last year,
Kirk Cousins - Bust
Christian Wilkins - Was meh then got injured and missed the season
Danielle Hunter - Good
Calvin Ridley - Middling
Leonard Williams - Good
Robert Hunt - Evan Brown for 10x the money
Jonathan Greenard - Good
Mike Onwenu - Evan Brown for 9x the money
Bryce Huff - Bust. 2.5 sacks for $17m per.
Johan Jackson - Evan Brown for 7x the money
That's a 3 out of 10 hit rate.
I'm not remotely interested in that. I don't care about names, I don't care about spend. I care about adding talent and I think there is plenty of talent we can add for good value, but a lot of you are going to complain that they aren't names and they didn't cost $20m a year as some kind of validation exercise.
The team would be significantly better with Koonce, Greenlaw, Fries, Slayton, Makari and SJD but I doubt many here would consider that a win.

Different offseason, same poster.
means bothIn my opinion, when the cap hoe's up it just means players get paid more, not that you get more players.
Not really. The same amount of roster spots are available, same number of players will be drafted. Just more money to slosh around and get out of bad past contracts.means both
