Me! IIRC, JCSunsfan was the leading cheerleader for the pick.

Steve

Was I? I don't remember. Are we talking about Robin Lopez. I don't remember having that strong of an opinion at the time. But I tend to be a class half full type, so it could be.

Yes. I could be mistaken, it just stood out to me that you were high on this pick. I know I was outspoken against it.

Yeah, let's not hire that guy as our GM. At least you didn't quote my post where I disagreed with you and said not only would I not take Lopez in the first round, I wouldn't even take him in the eighth round.

Steve

Too late. Edited it.

Kudos to the guys who like Hibbert and I think someone in there even was intrigued with George Hill.

Where would Len (or just about any of those top 10 picks) have gone in a decent draft year? The 2013 draft will probably go down as an all-time stinker. It does not really matter where he hypothetically was going on some websites. He ended up going 5th, getting drafted after some unimpressive prospects went, had the Suns not taken him and given the teams picking after, its easy to see him slipping to 9th or 10th.

That draft was a gong show. Saying Len has potential, not because of any ability he has shown, but rather because some writers thought he MIGHT go #1 in a terrible draft class... it does not do much for me.

Show me something Len.

Lopez's goofy appearance inspired a lot of posters to exaggerate his negatives.
And his "comic book" mentality.

Part of a player's skills develop in his head. Robin Lopez left us scratching ours.

If Len starts to play well and builds some trade value, I can see us trading him plus picks & maybe Green to BKY for Mason Plumlee.

Suns get to reunite another set of brothers and the Nets Russian owner gets a proud Ukrainian player on the team.

Win-Win?

Isn't there a Russian-Ukraine conflict?

I would think your typical Russian billionaire sides with Putin, at least publicly, on most issues, especially those involving world domination.

Prokhorov: Gee, Putin, what do you want to do tonight?
Putin: The same thing we do every night, Proky - try to take over the world!

Hmm... you're onto something. The similarities are alarming.

Michail Prochorov is not and has never been close to Putin. He is believed to use his franchise ownership as some kind of US-shield against Putin. He also was one of the most successful politicitians and candidates in Russia without the Support of Putin or his Party. He stepped down from that, because he Never believed in the opportunity of being active and relevant in Russias politics without being a puppet of the reigning party and Putin himself.

He just has never been dumb enough to critisize Wladimir Putin in any offensive way. It doesen't matter how rich or mighty you could be over there...

Of course, billionaires become prisoners if they don't fall in line. What a country.

It's extremely likely that he broke a lot of laws to become a billionaire, so the real situation is that a favorable relationship with the government will keep you out of prison -- not that a bad one will put you in it.

On Suns.com yesterday they said Len has bulked up to about 265 and looks really solid.

He didn't look scrawny when he was 240.

If Len can play with solid defensive fundamentals and effort (without getting lost out there), and develop a consistent shot out to 10 feet, he will be an extremely effective player. It really isn't going to take much.

It looks like he may have grown a little from the camp pics. He looks to be at least 3 inches taller than Plumlee.

I've said it before but I still feel that if Plumlee matches his early start from last season and Len plays well enough to take the starter job away from him, we become an instant contender. I wouldn't bet on it happening but I don't think it's a hundred to one shot either.

As you say, if Len is capable of taking away the starting job from Plumlee the Suns should be a very difficult team to beat. Also the other day when you mentioned Spencer Hawes playing along side a player like Mason Plumlee, I can see Len developing a 3 point shot somewhere down the road. I know I am drinking the kool aid but if Len ever puts his game together, inside and out, he could be the complete package. He is a physical specimen.

Please don't wake me up when I'm dreaming. :)

:mulli:

Shot to 10 feet, quality pick and roll game, rim protection/shot blocking, solid rebounding. THATS what I want from Len, not three point shooting.

Yeah, his bulk really isn't the problem. He has good size either way.

I disagree. His bulk up top isn't really a problem but he could really benefit from some lower body strength/bulk. If he can strengthen up to the point where he can maintain positioning without compacting down (to brace himself) I think he'll be much more valuable defensively.

Agreed. We need a rim protector but we really need someone that can hold his ground against the monsters in the league. We need a PJ Tucker that's 9 inches taller.
