So lets just say Salmon's has too much to drink today and agrees to sign with us and the 3.6 Trade Exception going to Philly with a 2nd Rounder, whats next...

Do we still use our MLE on one player, use it to grab two players or does Sarver not use it at all?

Is there anyone out there that can help us that would warrant us giving him the full MLE?

Only ones i can think of are Bonzi Wells, but i doubt he accepts less than $6-8Mil per from someone.

Jumaine Jones is another option, and i guess maybe Rasual Butler.

God what a horrible market... Should've just given Tim Thomas the damn MLE.

Hopefully we use some of those those future first rounders and Sign & Trade for someones RFA.(Hopefully a bigman)

If Salmons signs, the Suns have $1.8 mil and a vet min to use without hitting the luxury tax. From what I've heard, Salmons is going to Toronto.

And, no, there's nobody out there worth the full MLE. The only option the Suns really have to improve the team is sign-and-trades. Who's left among the RFAs?

The diamond in the rough I thought the Suns might look at -- Jackie Butler -- was signed to an offer sheet by the Spurs and, I guess, will be matched by the Knicks. However, he's still available by sign-and-trade until the 20th. It'd be nice to steal a bruiser from SA. I have no idea what we have to offer except the same deal we offered for Salmons. That might be too much. Maybe IT would settle for the TE? The deal is $7 mil for 3 years, very affordable, and very unloadable if the Suns decide they don't like him.

Jumaine Jones is still out there. So is DerMarr Johnson.

Is that it? I thought they had about $3m left, plus a vet min contract. (No point in expecting them to pay the tax this year, of course, since they only made $20m last season, and another $3-5m at the draft.)

If Butler signed the Spurs' offer sheet, the Suns are out of the picture. He'll be in SA or NY next year, one of the two.

I'm using Coro's math, which he got from the Suns. A player has to be justified before paying the luxury tax, and apparently the Suns aren't excited enough about any player to justify it.

Wait i don't understand

How would we only have $1.8Mil left of the MLE if we signed Salmons?

Arent we using our Trade Exception of $3.6Mil on him? And we used the Vet Min on Piatkowski.

We havent touched our MLE yet, so how would only $1.8 be left?

Shouldnt we still have our full MLE?

Yes, you will, but you aren't going to spend all of it, because it would put you over the luxury tax line for this season.

We could offer spreewell the MLE. It sounds close enough to MEAL which will make all the difference in the world.

It will be interesting to see what VAn Horn signs for. He is a decent player for the suns needs, but is injured a lot.

If we can't get Salmons anyone is worth the MLE. I don't feel comfortable with only 8 players, 2 old ones, 1 off surgery and 3 that may choke in the playoffs. If they get Salmons, which they have a good chance of doing, then I will be happy. I don't think Salmons is going to Toronto, just heard that that extra 1 mil a year is making him think about it a bit. The Suns did set the dealine for today though.

I looked at Ariza's stats and they aren't very impressive at all. He's a 6'8 200lb SF who shot 41% from the field and 20% from 3pt land last year (not a typo, but he only attempted 5 3ptrs). He was also a 60% ft shooter last year.

I'd take anyone but Van Horn, Butler and maybe House on that list.

The suns will probably not get in a bidding war with anyone on that list that is restricted.

Van Horn is worth the vet min. He is miles more serviceable than Burke. He can score and give some intelligent play.

I'll be very surprised if Van Horn signs anywhere for the minimum.

Meaning he will sign for more or that he won't play any more, in your opinion?

Jackie Butler is no longer available. San Antonio signed him to an offer sheet, but NY matched it so he's staying in New York. So there's one BIG man off the market. I believe it was an offer of 3 years/$7 mil. Something like that.

We could always go after Deshawn Stevenson, since he's a free agent. ORRRRRR, try a trade with Charlotte with KT, Jones and a future second for Knight, Brezec and Ely.. If that one doesn't work, KT and a future second for Knight and either Ely or Brezec (I'd prefer Ely).

dont think its even possible. i seem to recall that players involved in a sign and trade cannot be packaged along with other players.

so a trade would have to involve something we could trade from Knight, and then an additional trade for Ely. we have neither of the cards in our deck to accomplish that....unless we were to trade Thomas for Ely or Brezec straight up.

I would love if we made a run at Stevenson and offer him the full MLE, I think he's one of few FA's who's worth it, but there has been no mention anywhere that the Suns were interested.

Just giving a bunch of options here as you can see with my consecutive posting. Also, since Salmons punked out on the Suns, we could try to get Blake and Skinner for KT. That way we could start Diaw and have Barbs as the 6th man, Skinner coming in with the 2nd team.

You think Steve Blake and Brian Skinner are worth more than Kurt Thomas?
