I have to say, I am impressed. I can't believe how quickly Johnson signed. We are conditioned to fear the worst and know things will explode in our faces. This time it didn't. This time we got what we were promised.

It's most certainly time for all of us to be happy. At least until the 9th when the tuna comes to town.

I am happy now. We got TWO first rounders in camp, although late. This is much better than the recent past. Congrats Mr. Graves!!!!

That last sentence is the key! In a normal year getting two 1st-rounders signed after a minimal hold-outs is pretty decent, not just by Cardinal standards. This year it's great!! There are still 6 unsigned first round and a lot of lower unsigned picks as well. Usually only 1st rounders are hold-outs. This year there are hold-outs in all 7 rounds. Kudos Mr. Graves

Yup. But this kind of reminds me of when I was so relieved to complete Basic Training and excited about reporting for my new assignment (Heavy Weapons) only to have my new CO announce:

"Welcome to Phase 2 of Basic Training."

The Cards have all their rooks in camp. But that was last night. Tomorrow's another day.

Welcome to Phase 2 - making it all work, staying healthy, adding a couple of missing pieces etc. And as soon as we've got that done, it will be time for Phase 3 (going out in "real games" and proving we're good).

So am I "happy?" Well, I was late last night. This morning I'm grumpy because there's no practice til later today...

If we get Wilkinson in here, either from waivers or to a new contract, I will be happy. I have a feeling we will wait and see if Washington becomes available from Chicago, but the "wait and see" way of doing things hasn't exactly been kind to this team before. Besides, both Washington and Traylor are 2 or 3 seasons older than Wilkinson.

Don't get me wrong, I think its great we got the guys in camp this year, and it is refreshing that we did so. If we become proactive and grab Wilkinson from waivers - then I will know this organization is truly turning a corner and I will be very happy.
