@kentsomers: Looks like Levi Brown deal will be announced tomorrow. I have no information on contract terms.

...Because it's coming your way this April.

Greg Cosell (a great follow on Twitter) of NFL Films just tweeted out that Trent Richardson is the best RB since Adrian Peterson. There's a very good chance that he could fall to us. If he should fall to us, there's a very good chance that we'll pass on him because...

...we'll need an offensive tackle. Left or right.

Yay!

I'd say we have plenty of options if that happens. Teams would want our draft spot. Or we have a trade opportunity w/ Beannie possibly.

Incredible. Adam Schefter is reporting that in the past three hours the Vikings offered the Cardinals a sign and trade contract: Peterson for Levi. Reports are they wanted to settle the LT position, so they could trade down from #3 and draft Trent Richardson. Apparently, the Cardinals have declined.

Peterson now has a lot of miles on his treads, and great RB's have about an 8 yr. shelf life.

Would have loved to have him here with Warner though. We'd be talking SB champs, easy, imo.

:D The thread was Levi/Peterson Part Deux. So I provided the Part Deux just for shiggs and gittles.

However---allow me to revisit the original scenario.

Drafting Levi was a statement pick---as in we are going to build this thing from the inside out. I said it at the time and I still believe that's what Whisenhunt wanted to do...

That said, if you think about it this way....

Levi Brown: 4-2 playoffs, an NFC Championship and a Super Bowl appearance.

Adrian Peterson: impressive individual stats, but hasn't gotten the whiff of the playoffs and Super Bowl the way Brown has.

This is a team game---and each guy plays his part with regard to the success of the team.

Funny how things turn out. If All Day had been drafted by Arizona he might have two rings already.

I still wish we could have had the opportunity to see AP running the ball with the terrific trio of Warner, Fitz, and Boldin attacking defenses through the air. We probably would have had home field advantage throughout both the 2008 and 2009 playoffs.

For example how much fun would it have been if instead of just giving up after 5 minutes in the snow vs New England the Cards could have lined up and pounded the Patriots with Peterson. Still might have lost but those pin head Patriots would have known they were in a fight.

Not really the same. I would think there is a big difference between Beanie Wells and Ryan Williams and the Hyphen vs Edgrerrin James and Marcel Shipp and JJ Arrington.

Couldn't agree more.

hasnt every time-travel sci fi show taught you not to mess with the past?

With Peterson, Leinart is just effective enough to keep his starting job, but not effective enough to do more than win 7 games.

ASFN needs new servers to keep up with the raging "Is Leinart a good QB?" debate threads.

Warner leaves after his short term deal expires and goes to Minnesota.

Fitz gets tired of it and doesn't redo his deal, and instead bolts in free agency and joins Warner in Minnesota. Vikings win the Superbowl that year.

Whisenhunt is fired after three 7 win seasons. He is replaced by Marty Morningwig.

Yup. Im no big Beanie fan but considering how he played when healthy I wouldnt draft Richardson. good RB's can notoriously be found at later round picks.

I agree. Why is only one running back projected to be drafted in the first round this year? Also, only one running back last season came off the board in the first round, Mark Ingram (Richardson's former teammate), and that wasn't until the 28th pick. Furthermore, Ryan Williams was the second running back taken in the draft by us last season.

Like safeties, you can find quality backs in the mid rounds. I don't think Richardson is any better than Beanie; therefore, he should not even remotely be a consideration for Arizona.

LOL that's good. It's like the posts I've made in the past about how Neil Racker's missed FG against Chicago in the Monday Night Meltdown got the Cardinals an NFC Championship.
