How many home games have you watched on TV instead of attending?

Not speaking for him, but I watch every game at home after watching it live in person in the stadium. The TV audio isn't even close. Although this week you could hear the 1st Quarter boos on the TV audio.

But most of the time, the crowd noise sounds tame on TV. It is not tame in house.

The TV audio is not a good representation of the crowd, roof open or not.

I may have two of our upper deck tickets available for face to cards fans. They are section 424, row 10 seats 7-8. I have to check and make sure, but I don't believe they are spoken for.

CardsfanMD,

U of P is loud, very loud. You will realize that once you actually experience it. Are there fans that cheer for the other team? Yes there are. Those people are no different from you when you go cheer on the Cards at Fedex or whatever the hell Ravens Stadium is called now. But to call the hometown fans weak is pretty off base. This team and the NFL has an entirely different past than teams back East. This metroplex has different demographics and issues unique to other cities. People move here from DC, Chicago, Kansas City, Wisconsin, Minnesota. People don't leave Phoenix to move to those places. As long as AZ has 8 months of awesome weather that will never change. San Diego's game day experience is very similar. People don't give up their NFL allegiences over night nor should they. But to call out the "fanbase" especially the 30k that carried this team through the dark ages is a bit unwarranted in my opinion. As far as people who are experiencing financial troubles, a big blow to the AZ economy is construction and real estate. People are hurting and no one should judge. I hope everyone enjoys the game and cheers on the Cards no matter how you plan on doing it.

Good points. Not sure why I keep having to say this, but I am not doubting any of you hardcore fans who sat through the concentration camp that was Sun Devil Stadium. I dont blame any people really. They grew up liking other teams and the Cards teams did nothing to sway them into Red and White.

Sorry but it really is at times.

Is there something wrong with that? I know this debate is getting long in the tooth, but really - what stadium doesn't settle down at certain points in a game??

Again, in my vast experience of taking in all levels of sporting events across the country, I can't think of one instance where the crowd stood and cheered the ENTIRE game... not one...

For all practical purposes, the crowd noice at UoP is equivalent to anything I have experienced, and in many cases, far louder than most other stadiums I have visited...

Bow if you feel so compelled young man! :p

So, you've been to other games/stadiums as well... Yet, have you been to a Cardinal game at UoP? I fail to see why it is relevant that you've been to other games/stadiums, yet have only "heard" the noice from UoP via a TV??

For the record, I've been to more than 10 Syracuse games at The Carrier Dome. Was one of my favorite routine college road trips as one of my closest high school buddies went to Syracuse... I went to school in RI so it was a reasonable weekend venture! And yes, the noise in the Carrier Dome was deafening. But then, I have also been to several college hoops games and they too were loud. I have also been to college football games at BC, Michigan, Notre Dame, Univ. of Florida and Texas A&M, and they too were extremely loud - perhaps louder than any NFL game I've been to. College kids can really crank it up! ;)

I referenced the Knicks, whether you agree or not, there are only a handful of venues that get as loud as MSG in the post season. I've been to several Knick playoff games and the noise was epic...
Same for Yankee Stadium. The noise there during a Red Sox-Yankee playoff game is as loud as any noise I have ever experienced anywhere else.

And finally, the noise at UoP at times (Cowboy game for example), IMO ranks right up there with all of the other venues I ahve been to...
Honestly - unless you have actually been to a game, I really can't take your assessment of the noise at UoP seriously...

Good post, good points.

I would be at this week's game but my other half who must never want a ring on her finger told her parents that we would watch her brother and sister this coming weekend. I guess I wont be finding out for myself until next season.:bang:

Trust me buddy - it's worth the wait. The entire experience - including the NOISE, will be a very pleasant surprise for you!

Happy New Year md...

That is just wrong on so many levels. The hubby would just have to sit home with brother & sister all on his lonesome, course I already got the ring. :)

To think I was gonna jump all up and down because you indirectly called me a weak fan (Phoenix native, 3rd generation). But man you have worse troubles than what I think of you for what you think of me.

All third quater screaming will be in your honor and I am at my best in the third. Enjoy the show....

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
chr!st on a stick, it could be 30 years until we do this again ( lets hope not thought eh!)

I would give my right arm to go the game. If i thought i could sell it for the £2000 it would cost me to get there then i would.

If i lived within driving distance and i could have a ticket for $65 i would be there in flash, sleep in car and head back home, day off sick form work, whatever it took.

the point is the games have sold out before, so it not that there are not enough fans there its just a case of them buying tickets. Its sad that we still seem to have the 25000 hard core fans that went to SDS and the whilst the number is creeping up it is taking time.

regular winning seasons will help a lot but as these tickets sales have shown it is slow.

....anyone want to buy an arm?

Well I took my money from one of my Credit cards and bought me and my wife tickets. I cant miss this game.. not after what I have been through for 20 years!!!!! Plus I took the next 3 days after the game paid vacation.. gotta let my voice heal!!!!

I really thought about what you said and said F it. Im not gonna pay a couple bills, Hell the IRS already f'd up my finances. Ill wake up without a dollar to my name on Sunday but if we win....It will be all worth it!! Thanks D hey lets def meet up for a brew before the game.

Too bad you can't sue the IRS and get penalties and back interest. Or at the least find an employee to beat to a pulp.

P.S. I do not condone violence. :D

OK, here is the miserable story that I am currently living:

Early this year we planned a trip to Disney World for us, our two children and some of her family for the week after Thanksgiving.

We have had a pretty rocky relationship over the years, being as though our first child was an accident through somewhat of a series of one-night-stands and our second came right after I lost half of a hand at work and was having to work illegally at night to keep food on the table (no I wasn't selling my ass or drugs). She has always wanted to get married but I have been more than hesitant. For one, her father is the best domestic attorney in the state and for two, she is kinda crazy.

Anyway, I finally decided that I couldn't imagine my life without her so there was no reason not to finally marry the woman. Her dream has always been to get married at Disney in front of the castle, but I dont have the money and it is to impractical since all of our family is from the Northeast (hers from Jersey, mine from upstate NY). I did the next best thing I could think of and reserved the table with the best view in the restaurant atop Cinderella's castle in Disney at 7:00 and figured after I'd propose as the firework show started. I know this may not be as romantic as pulling the ring out when Jaws pops out of the water (I love Mallrats) but I was damn proud of myself.

Anywho, none of this happened because Thanksgiving morning I took my son sledding down a hill that was too big for him and he broke his leg when I pulled him off the sled too hard trying to sheild him behind my body because we were about to hit a tree at high speeds. He is tough as nails and even though I was crying like a schoolgirl he didn't shed a tear until the next day. He later had surgery at Hopkins and is making a full recovery.

Needless to say, we didn't make the trip, she didn't get a ring and her and I have not gotten along or even slept in the same bed since the accident.

The biggest reason for proposing in Disney as opposed to doing it on Christmas Eve was that I thought giving her the ring in November would guarentee that I got an early OK to fly out for the playoffs and I would have everything set up. I had given up on it but then yesterday I saw that from redoing my flight reservations, Southwest messed up and gave me an extra $900 in vouchers, thus making a rountrip flight for the game FREE!! I also read on here that I could get a ticket for less that $100 so I was ready at that point. Now we haven't even been really talking, so I just kinda tried to pop it on her but she quickly shot it down with the whole babysitting thing.

THIS IS BS!!!!!!!!!! WHAT KIND OF WOMAN OFFERS TO BABYSIT ON A WEEKEND WHEN HER GUY'S FOOTBALL TEAM HAS IT'S FIRST PLAYOFF GAME IN 10 YRS????????????? From a woman's perspective, am I really in the wrong for being pissed about this?

wow, I cant believe I just wrote all of that--yes I am aware that i have issues

Cardsfanmd, I am going to pour myself a double Makers Mark and Coke in your honor. I cannot possibly offer you advice considering I screw my own life up enough but when I make mistakes, I drink, so for you, I will drink and wish you the best with your woman situation.

Oh and by the way I am still working on getting my son and I there. The chaepest flight out around here is $720 that is out of Chicago. If anyone out there has airline connections let me know. I am dying to get to this game, but wifey would kill me if I spent $2000, she would only mame me for spending $1000.

I have even tried to fly into Vegas or LA and the flights are just too expensive.

Did you try Midwest Airlines outta Milwaukee? Phoenix is a super-saver city with them. That is the only airline I took when I went to college there... they were significantly lower than all the other airlines for that specific flight.

From my woman's perspective no you are not wrong to be ticked but you have to realize that I am incapable of separating my woman's perspective from my Cardinal fan's perspective so my view is a bit skewed.

Always remember you said it yourself, can't live without her. Sounds like you are a tough cookie and we have all had to deal with folks in our life that just can't comprehend what our true devotion is like. No where near as tragic; my brother-in-law got married, married mind you, during our last playoff run. Where was I? Driving my butt to freaking Texas of course, He managed to get over it....expensive wedding gifts can do that for you but of course times were better then.

So if some how you manage to swing the trip know you'll be welcome. You could try a little sweet talking, you know you can do it--you planned the Disney thing (heart getting soft). Or if you don't, turn on the TV, pull up a chair pop a cold one and we will know you are here with us in spirit.

Save your money and go to the Cards vs. Giants game. Closer to you and less drama. Yeah, we will win this weekend. This weekend is a big deal, but it is only part of the story of this season.

I was thinking about that too. I am pretty convinced we will win this week and go to NY but I am also pretty sure that I will get murdered in NY. I get into multiple fights at pretty much every Cards game here on the East Coast during the regular season. I cant imagine how crazy it will be for the playoffs. My Dad has health issues, so I dont even want to risk him going and something happeneing. My buddy is thinking about going but he is a G-Men fan.

If I came to Arizona I could atleast hang out with some ASFNers.

I'm just not sure that I would have a better time in frigidly cold NYC watching the game by myself and getting beer, peanuts and guido fists thron at me the whole game than I woul;d sitting at my house here in Md or at the local Hooters.

If we end up going to Carolina I am 100% there though.

Wow. That sucks.

Like Angel, I can't separate my woman's feelings and Cardinals ones. (I once had a serious fight with a boyfriend since he couldn't understand why I wanted to spend a whole Sunday in the bar to watch football. Dude, it was opening day!!!)

If you're asking for what you should do about the game, I say talk to her and make sure she knows how important it is.

If you're asking about the relationship, I say she should already know the importance.

Good luck regardless, MD.
