I'll add: final play of regulation prior to the snap-- I say to my wife: man, the D sure has a bunch of guys near the LOS.

For a Hail Mary, there were shockingly few numbers of Card DBs in the endzone.

Damn you, Arians, and your idiotic ego! YOU RUN THE EFFING BALL, YOU EFFING MORON! YOU RUN THE EFFING BALL! Without an extra 40 seconds, they don't get a chance to hail mary it at the end!

Win or lose, Arians and his ego cost us.

Thank God we won!! I watched the game with 3 Steeler fans. They all agreed that what you're bitching about is exactly why the Steelers eventually let him go.

Look I love the guy and his heart but there is a fine line between balls and stupid.

He has crossed that line a few too many times and he needs to learn where it is.

It wasn't the smartest play call, but if that is completed that is ball game.

He is what he is. He'll never dial it back. Guys like Arians take chances and do it their way.

No way it was a bad call. Even if we run it 3 times the Packers are still going to get the ball back with over 1 minute left and with Rogers that is no gimme for us. We had the perfect timing to end the game right there. I was thinking right before the play that the ideal thing would be go for the TD and not rely on our D to stop Rogers.

If we would have already been under 2 minutes I would agree with you. But when you are still having to give the ball back to Rogers with more than a minute left, I would rather put it out of reach if you had the chance.

It's just math.

If we run the ball there they can't stop the clock so we get to the 2 minute warning 3rd down and 8 from somewhere, last play was 22 no idea if we gain yards lose yards or what. let's say no gain so the 22. If we run the ball again, we kick the FG with under 1:30 close to 1:20. Even there I have no idea why we ran wide, wherever we ran it was stopping at 2 minutes unless we go out of bounds first so why run near the sideline?

So we make the FG at 1:25 or so instead we kicked it at 1:55. So they get the ball with 1:20 or less probably 1:10.

If you do the math the 4th down play that Bethel blew was the last play of the game if we had not thrown on 2nd down.

He's a great coach, I'm glad he's our coach, but he makes mistakes and this was one that could have cost us a playoff win.

It's fair to question it.

He plays to win. Is it always the best move? No. But that is why we went for it on 4th down and it is why we tried to get the dagger right there.

It is also why we blitzed on the hail mary.

Man.... This team is going to be the death of me.

Rogers threw up a chuck and pray. There was 1 WR and 2 DB's. It looked like a sure INT the way the ball hung up there and I think that's what happened. Johnson and, I think, PP were too keyed on the ball and didn't see Janis until it was too late. I think if they payed any mind to him they would have simply knock the ball down instead of trying to catch it. Luckily is didn't cost us the game.

And yet many here defended him throwing it in the same situation earlier in the year lol

This is all based off of what happened after that 2nd down call, but if he goes the conservative route it could very well have completely changed the way that GB possession went down to begin with. For starters if the Packers get the ball with less time on the clock than they have a higher sense of urgency to get down field from the very first play.

The thing we should be most thankful for is that the Packers didn't go for 2 after the hail mary. I would have as a coach in that situation every time. No way am I going to rely on a coin toss to decide my season. A coach with any guts would have gone for the win and make sure what ended up happening didn't have a chance to. I would have lined up, spread out the WRs and handed the ball off up the middle to win the game, or a QB draw with Rogers.

Now before anyone says I am nuts, let me put it in a math way which is how I perceive it. What are the odds of scoring from the 3 in one do or die play, especially when you have the D (and whole stadium in shock after that hail mary). I don't really know the odds, but they can't but a bit less than 50-50 with a running QB like Rogers.

Now, lets guess at the odds of going to OT. We know the odds are 50-50 already just to win the coin flip, and if you don't you may never see the ball again. If you do win the coin flip, then what are the odds that you score a TD? Probably no more than 50-50 if that. So we are already at probably 1-3 odds of winning the game by winning the coin flip and then scoring a TD immediately. The odds of winning the game if you dont score a TD after winning the coin flip is probably not something you can figure out. But my point is, I like the odds of scoring on a 2 pt conversion with no time left in the game to win or lose over the variety of things that can go against you by going into overtime.

You would think with McCarthy going for a 4th down with over 2:00, way in their own territory, that going for the 2 pt. conversion might indeed have been a no brainer for them right there. I agree.

I say it was a great play call and refs embarrassingly missed an illegal contact call. The guy decked fitz a good 10 yards down field. That should have been game right there.

Remember when Bill Bellichek elected to kick the ball in overtime against the Jets and lost which cost them the #1 seed.

Even the best of coaches make mistakes. Who cares.

God as my witness, I turned to my wife before they even lined up, and said "30 out of 32 coach's in the league would run it here, so this will be a pass.

Not even River-boat Ron throws it there IMO, which leaves Belichick.

BA's unpredictability is becoming very predictable.
CP had an off day no doubt, but I thought the offensive game-plan left a lot to be desired.

Has it been confirmed that BA made that call and that it wasn't a hot read at the line by Palmer? It wouldn't be the first time this year that Palmer decided to change the play to a pass in a situation where running the ball may have made more sense.

I'm actually was more angry at Arians for overruling Bettcher's call of just playing prevent on the Hail Mary.

I know it's our mojo, but bringing an all-out blitz on that Hail Mary to a QB like Rodgers was the dumbest decision of the season & it nearly cost us.

I agree. You have made it JB's role to make those calls on defense so you need to let him make that call. I also would have had probably Fitz and Floyd standing in the endzone on that play as well.

I would need to go back and look but I don't think that pass saved any additional time for GB. Had we ran on that play instead we still would have had to run another play before the two minute warning.

I think... Someone check the game clock

Edit. Had to check the play clock rules. Should have ran it....
