This is my assessment of where the Cardinals stand & why Arians was the choice & a good choice. It's no secret to anyone that I am an ardent supporter of Ken Whisenhunt & was disappointed in his firing. That being said, Arians has been brought in to FIND a QBOF & DEVELOP a QBOF. He's very well qualified to do that. The Cardinals had to hire an offensive mind who's MAIN talent is working with QB's. The other younger candidates had some success in that arena, but certainly didn't have that success over as long a period of time as Arians did. In Pittsburgh, he did that almost to a fault. The Cardinals right now NEED him to do that almost to a fault. I don't agree with that Pittsburgh assessment, but that's an argument for another day. If Arians gets to the point where he's created a Pro Bowl prima donna QB in AZ, then the Cardinals will have made a tremendous step forward as a franchise! Easier to fix a D than the QB position!!

Agreed!

Love to see him bring in Jerry Sullivan as WR coach. Jurecki is tweeting that Jerry would welcome a return to AZ.

A pro bowl prima donna QB in a Cardinals uniform? That would be a miracle. It's been 24 years since the Cards had a top QB they drafted and developed.
Fixing the D isn't easy for the Cardinals at all. '93-'94 the Cards had top defenses. It was 17.5 years before they had another one.

Don't forget your Cardinals history.

I totally agree with you. We had the worst offense in the league last year. Just a slight improvement with our qb play would have given us probably an 8 - 8 record. BA's best attribute is his development of qbs. I also think that our defense will be fine. These guys are professionals and have pride, that won't go away. BA likes to have veteran leaders, we have that on our defense.

Don't forget Arians coached Tim Couch also not just Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.

We also had veteran leaders on our Defense 2008-2009. A lot of fans think they weren't any good.

Andrew Luck not withstanding, I think the job he did, on an interem basis no less, with a 2-14 team the previous year gives me hope. And I remember in years past, his name coming up here (for OC I would guess). So someone here wanted him prior to his hiring......

I think he is a great choice. I also think moving on from Horton is a terrible choice (maybe his own). So the jury is out as to whether this is a net gain or a net loss for the team as a whole.

The league has changed dramatically since '93-'94. It's now a much more QB driven formula. Even though those D's were good, those were still very boring teams to watch. I'd rather see us win 35-31 games that to see us score 3-10 pts per game regardless of the outcomes. I liked Horton & our D was good under his direction. But I believe that some on this board have labeled it as "elite". It wasn't elite, as you could run all day on his D. I'll withhold judgement on Bowles, until we see the product on the field. For now, I'll gladly welcome Arian's offensive coaching talents.

I have viewed the video clips on the the Card's site.

I think I like the new HC.

Your missing the point. Regardless of how the league has changed the Cards hadn't been able to put a decent defense on the field for years. So saying it will be easier to fix goes against Cardinal history. Remember this is the Cardinals. They got Warner and went to the SB before they had a good defense again.

Nothing they do is normal.

I would point out we lost that SB due to our Defense.

So our defense threw an INT that was returned 100 yards for a TD before the half...and our defense fumbled the ball away at the end of the game...?? Shame on them.

No, our defense could not stop THREE four down conversions in the final drive by Pitt; any one of which would have given us the win. Our offense had put us in the lead; our Defense could not hold it.

That game was fixed. The Steelers are way ahead and suddenly they get a holding call for a safety and then after being smothered all day Fitz miraculously is wide open for a TD and Francisco mysteriously slips and then to top it all off Holmes drops the pass the NFL had scripted and so they had to run the play again to the other side and even though Holmes is out of bounds the refs give the Steelers the TD. And that fat guy runs 100 yards and nobody could catch him? Yeah right.

:D
