He's very much proven otherwise this last season and a half.

Rolling with Stanton is beyond idiotic. Rolling with a never-has-been QB who never will be? In a lost season? Yeah, because THAT makes sense :sarcasm:

What free agent would you like us to pick up and start? Just curious...And please don't say BG, because we have already seen that movie.

Oh... you guys think Baltimore might sack him? I'd be surprised but all over it.

Very well could happen. If they don't make the playoffs this year that will be 3 years in a row. They've only had had one winning season since they won the SB in '12. Their offense is BAD, and that is with having a decent running game. Their passing game is just woeful. He's definitely on the hot seat.

All that said, I think he is a very good coach and his overall track record speaks for itself. You get all of the Harbaugh cache without the grating on the players/organization and just obnoxiousness in general.

It’s simply the O and D lines that stink. There really isn’t much to it.

Isn't that basically Gabbert as well?

I agree with this. You can't fire Arians unless you have a group of people who (1) are as good or better and (2) willing to say yes to the job. I think that Arians is a good administrator and I don't believe that his offense is aged — I think that his offense has been limited in some ways by his QB. We could see a more creative offense schematically over the next few weeks.

It is troubling that the special teams has been near the bottom of the league since he's arrived, and there's been no urgency to improve that unit. It's also troubling that Arians has struggled to recruit qualified assistants besides Todd Bowles.

He'd be an interesting name. He's certainly deferred to a GM for a long time. He also has a background in Special Teams.

Assuming BA stays, what do you think of Pagano coming in as DC? He's a terrible HC, but was pretty good as a DC, no?

Gabbert has shown a solid degree of stinkitude no doubt.

Two things in his favor: Gabbert has never played in the same system two years in a row...it makes a difference... not all the difference, but some...and he has not yet played in our system two years in a row either.
Gabbert has the mobility to extend plays...with our o-line that is a huge plus...stanton has mobility about 5 points higher than Palmer...Carson is a Madden 45...stanton is a madden 50, lol...

bonus shot.... Gabbert would make the offense slightly more exciting to watch...it may still be putrid, but not dull, boring putrid.

in the end... Gabbert Vs Stanton may only boil down to pick #3 Vs pick #5

I've certainly considered that. Pagano's defenses with the Colts have been abysmal — they just let Bortles put up 300+ yards on them. He had one year as the DC in Baltimore before being hired by the Colts. Before that he was their secondary coach — working with so much talent makes it hard to gauge the quality of the coach. He had some good defenses as the secondary coach of the Raiders for a few years, as well.

It will surprise many people that I'm saying this, but it's really difficult for me to feel like I have enough information to judge this.

In my opinion, yes, but he's a guy they are apparently high on. Gabbert has more of an upside than Stanton--they think Gabbert may be QBOF material (while I don't), but they can't think Stanton is a QBOF. If they truly think that, Bidwill should fire them and change the locks so the idiots can never get back into the building lol

The team starting Stanton really puts us back out of a misguided sense of grasping for wins that just aren't going to come. We SUCK, and won't make the playoffs, so why push back the possible development of a younger QB the team believes in? Makes no sense.

What free agent would you like us to pick up and start? Just curious...And please don't say BG, because we have already seen that movie.

Oh, this year is a wash and I don't think we should go after anyone, other than to make up numbers. I just think it's incredibly idiotic to start Stanton, a 'never going to be a starting QB' over a younger 'never has been but the team believes he might be a starter in the future' BG. Why would they do this? It's pure desperation, and it hurts the team. This is the time to evaluate BG (IMO, so they can wake up and smell the coffee, because he ISN'T a QBOF) and see what you have going forward. Or, more likely, to see what you DON'T have lol

Would be great, but he wouldn't be a DC, though, because Bettcher isn't going anywhere and won't be demoted. They'd most likely bring Chuck in as Associate/Assistant Head Coach Defense.

He has qualified assistants, but they are both going on 90 years old, Tom Pratt and Tom Moore.
I mean, yeah. But Moore didn't have a job — he was retired for a couple of years. Pratt was training draft hopefuls at the IMG Academy in Florida. They weren't guys who were active in the NFL when they were hired.

I would have no problem with Arians staying and would even be happy with that but I can no longer endure Amos and especially that Bettcher guy

Then you want Arians fired, because he is on record (I read the direct quote in the paper) that he would NEVER, NEVER (yes, he said it twice) fire a coach .... EVER.

So if you want to say goodby to Amos and BETTCHER, you have to fire Arians (which I have no problem with, do it tomorrow).

Careful what you wish for. I like Arians and he's a very good coach for 1995-2015.
. FTFY...the game is passing him by and he is digging his heals in. "The System Works + misplaced loyalty + stubborness= future and continued failure.

Dude... we were 13-3 and a juggernaut in 2015. Gotta include that year even with the ugly ending.

I like coach Arians but it's a sad state of affairs the team is in. Imo, it's an organizational failure. Not necessarily in structure but failure in function. The organization has shown the fans that, at the moment, it's unable to remain in success mode.

Don't get me wrong, please.. I'm not suggesting any particular strategy, personnel changes or organizational flow chart. That's not in my scope to criticize something I know nothing about how to do myself. I'm just an observer from the outside looking in.

Yeah. I'd be excited about a Jon Harbaugh signing.

While I feel bad for him personally...
He needs to step down now!
This is a results business and there are guys who want to win and will do what it takes.
This is a razor sharp business...you're either the razor your getting cut....and tight now the cards are bleeding bad.

I don't see the faith or the fight. I see a decent team and bad coaching.

As the saying goes

I think Arians the coach is pretty damn good... his assistants heading the defense, offense and special teams are way below him in my opinion and it's a strange dichotomy which is hard to comprehend and it sucks that he lost two great DCs and settled for a guy like Bettcher who has not earned what he has

+1

We already know what we don't have in Stanton. Watching him lead our team is so uninspiring and makes me sick. Team will struggle even worse under him. He is an below average QB and we and the rest of the league all know it.

Time to see what we do or don't have in Gabbert.

Anyone who thinks his underlings are untouchable certainly has a problem. No matter what type of business you are in, you have to regularly reassess the performance of those under you. It's quite apparent that Arians has decided this is not necessary or just plain refuses to do it. Whichever it is doesn't matter. All that matters is Arians is misguided in the direction he has decided to take. Now, it's incumbent on both Keim and Bidwill to step in and either force Arians to do an assessment which in all probability will be extremely skewed or they need to do it themselves and then either go to Arians and tell him which coaches are going and if Arians will not accept the results, then send Arians shuffling off to Buffalo. The fly in the ointment here is it seems both Keim and Bidwill are in the same boat with Arians after Keim made comments about players not having sufficient IQ to get the job done or understand their assignments stating we have players that are slow to learn. If this is what they truly believe, that the players are the source of the problems the team is having then there is not much hope for the future to establish long term stability of this team.

That statement is totally irrelevant.
BA is on record that he will NEVER, NEVER (he used it twice) fire a coach... EVER. Therefore, BA has to go, it's pretty simple, he surrounded himself with under-performing nincompoops... and he won't ditch any ? Ergo, he must go, the sooner the better, because he sure as hell is not going to make any mid-season or end-of-season adjustments, because he already told us he wouldn't... EVER.
