Alternate headline: 2nd round pick stands out from a crowd of undrafted free agents.

You hope that this guy would stand head-and-shoulders above a bunch of guys that no one wanted. It's hard to say that he's actually going to be good. He's not really competing with anyone for PT, and he hasn't had to play on the same field with Weatherspoon.

Minter's pretty much out of excuses at this point. I think he's better than we saw last year, but you hate to hear guys make excuses about terrible play. I'm interested to see whether he makes himself so valuable that he'll be the guy calling the defensive plays. IMO, the guy in the green dot is going to be Rashard Johnson. I think he's going to be hard to keep off the field in any package.

Show and tell time. Still think opposing OC's will pass on first and second down to exploit his poor coverage skills. I would.

On Doug and Wolf today, Lorenzo Alexander singled out Minter as a guy that is really standing out because of his growth.

I still proclaim he can't cover Rod "the snail" Graves out of the backfield. :p

Hope he proves me wrong but I am agreeing because I have not seen anything out of him yet. Last years when he had an opportunity with Dwash gone he failed to step up. I know Larry Foote played great but how many times watching a game did you hear Minter's name called making a tackle on defense or special teams.

I hope Minter has a great year... he needs to... for the sake of the Cardinals & for the sake of his own career.

I just wish the guy would shut up & let his play do the talking for him. There was an article just like this last year where he proclaimed himself ready to lead the defense & then sucked all season long (obviously the injury played a big part).

I know reporters are leading him into these quotes with their questions, but try being humble for a change... at least until you actually accomplish something of value & can sustain that level of play over a long period of time.

So he is the Lyle Sendlien of the defense ? LOL.

Agreed with the Rashad Johnson note, tho. It makes a lot of sense since your safeties are really the only players that are 3 down defenders these days, JMHO.

What I saw of Minter last season was that the guy was always a step slow getting in time to a play. It is not because he has average speed, but it was if the game was moving too fast for him and it took him too long to diagnose the direction of the play once it was in motion... hopefully, the game will slow down for him in his mindset so he can contribute

I don't know where you have been this off season, but he has more than earned it in OTAs and in TC this year. All you have to do is go the the main site and watch the videos. He is all over the place making plays except for in coverage. That is precisely what BA wants from him.

All of which means less than nothing. Really? He tore it up in OTAs? He looks good in TC before we've even played a single preseason game? You're really, really reaching here. There's only one place he'll be able to prove it--on the field once the season starts. And I hope he does. I don't have much faith that he will, but it would be nice.

yeah gee,..it would be awesome if we had great athletes all across the defense so we never needed to use sub packages.

Then we could just shift the D and have a safety drop back to receive the punt,..awesome.....

oh wait,....that's Pop Warner football...............

At least he is showing it in tc and ota's. It would be bad if he wasn't. I'm pumped for him.

I agree.
I do believe Minter will be better, but agree that he'll never be a great player. I only hope that he will be solid on run downs. The question is, how many snaps he will actually play, because I think there are going to be a ton of snaps with both Badger, Buchanon and Jefferson

So far Minter has actually made himself noticed. Which is lightyears ahead of the last two years.

Yeah, I had the same thought as well. I don't think he'll be an all-pro, but he seemed to be playing with confidence and he was aggressive in getting to the ball.

Agree, tonight showed basically what I expect from Kevin Minter and what I have seen from him all camp.

I think he is an average ILB in this league, and that's not a knock. Average is good, we can live with average, but he's just not spectacular. We have a guy who is spectacular, but he's too much of a moron to get out of his own way, so we have to settle for average. :(

I hope Minter becomes something worthwhile, though it isn't his fault the Cardinals drafted his two down, and athletically limited butt in the second round. It is never too late for a guy to come into his own. I hope he does. That being said, he just doesn't have the athletic skillset to be a three down player.

Exactly chopper.

The thumper ILB in the NFL is going the way of blocking FB...extinct.

Keim went out of his way to mention how impressed he was with Minter in the Chiefs game. (Doug and Wolf)

This is a very good sign.

I didn't see anything outstanding.

I fully expect teams to attack Minter in coverage throughout the season & if Dweed & Spoon don't get over their issues, our ILB situation will be a complete dumpster fire!!!

If I was an opposing OC I would exploit him by passing on running downs.
