I like the idea of both but the Green signing is not real exciting for me. Cardinals need a legit number #2.

If we keep Green it doesn't effect comp picks. If we sign someone else it wipes out the Edmonds comp.

Might as well stay Green and draft.

Curious to see how much cap room is left
I guess we have to wait the third day of free agency to see some additions coming from the outside

I agree with your strategy but this almost makes drafting a receiver in the first round a priority.

this feels like a lot for primarily a ST guy

maybe 1 year post ACL, he flashes in the pass rush again
It is a lot. Ugh. Good news is that we probably aren't going after a big name so the money won't hurt too much.

Gardeck is a great special teamer but paying his as more is more KeimTime.

there usually is one big name every off season

even with a new deal (and especially with a new deal) for K1, the team has 2 more years of smaller QB cap hits: they better take advantage of it

I do feel a little silly quibbling over 1 or 2 mil but it all adds up. The Pats pay Justin Bethel 2.5 per year to be a stud ST. I just feel like we are overpaying for replaceable players in may instances.
That's 2020 money. We are talking about Crazy 2022 money these days. LOL

Gardeck played 20% of defensive snaps last year. Bethel doesn't.

and 6 pressure to show for it.
To be totally fair which you’re really not being the guy was less than 12 months removed from an ACL tear… Not uncommon for guys to not perform up to their previous level that early… Not everybody is Adrian Peterson

Plus Gardeck is one sack away from matching Andre Wadsworths' career sack total of 8.

With Ertz and Conner locked up probably the next most important players to re-sign are

Colt McCoy
Maxx Williams
Antonio Hamilton
Dennis Gardeck (ST-level contract, 2-3 mil)
Antonio Hamilton is solid depth and not a liability if he has to start... it's a position of need and the Cards would be wise to retain him, because you can never have too many capable CBs

True. So it’s a great time to lock him up for 3 years above market value. Wait, we did wut? Oh, right . . . keim.
