Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Out of Friday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Ahmed is out of Friday's lineup in Coors Field.

He has started the last five games, going 6-for-21 (.286 AVG) with one stolen base over that stretch. Ketel Marte gets the start at shortstop, hitting sixth, while Daniel Descalso starts at the keystone, hitting fourth.

Hmm, I don't mind this lineup unless Jay strikes out 4 times...:(

Im not giving up on this team or Goldy. We had a bad month but MLB seasons are long. This division is very winnable. Im just glad Torey started to shake things up a bit, I think its helping. Fun watching this team when they play like last year.

If Goldy bats anywhere but second tomorrow I might get banned.

He will move him around still. It seems he doesn't want to stop playing with the lineup.

Paul Goldschmidt proves he’s back with two homers in win over Colorado
Is Paul Goldschmidt back?

That’s the question everyone was asking after the slumping first baseman had eight hits in a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants.

Well, the answer appears to be yes.

Goldschmidt had two home runs, a double and three RBI in the D-backs’ 9-4 win over the Colorado Rockies on Friday.

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Gets fifth win of season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Greinke (5-4) picked up the win against the Rockies on Friday, giving up four runs (three earned) on eight hits over 5.2 innings, striking out five and walking two as the Diamondbacks got a 9-4 victory.

It wasn't Greinke's sharpest outing, but he still ended up with a respectable final line, missing a quality start by one-third of an inning on his way to bagging his fifth victory of the season. He now has a 3.53 and a 1.10 WHIP through 79 innings, and his 83:13 K:BB is fantastic, so Greinke is showing he can still provide excellent fantasy value in his age-34 season, even if he's not the lights-out force on the mound he once was.

Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Continues to break out
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and three runs scored in Arizona's 9-4 victory over the Rockies on Friday.

The big first baseman has exploded over his last three games, bagging 10 hits in his last 15 at-bats, and he swatted home runs numbers nine and 10 on the season in this contest. His slow start to the season may have elicited some hand wringing from worried owners, but he looks like he's finally ready to get back to his old tricks, as this four-hit effort brought his slash line up to .241/.349/.464. That's still far short of the lofty standards he's set with his MVP-caliber play the past few seasons, but if these recent fireworks are a sign a sustained hot streak is on the horizon, Goldschmidt's numbers could start to rise in a hurry.

Diamondbacks hit three homers in third, Rockies lose 9-4
Paul Goldschmidt continued his sizzling June with two long home runs and a double, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 9-4 on Friday night.
Paul Goldschmidt continued his sizzling June with two long home runs and a double, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 9-4 on Friday night.

Jake Lamb and David Peralta also homered, and Zack Greinke (5-4) tossed 5 2/3 innings and had an RBI single for Arizona.

Goldschmidt had just 14 hits in May, batting .144 in 27 games, but has already collected 13 hits in seven games this month. He hit three doubles in Wednesday's loss at San Francisco and had another in the first inning Friday, scoring Arizona's first run.

He added a two-run homer in the third, an estimated 438-foot shot to center field that gave Arizona a 3-1 lead. He topped that with a 439-foot bomb to center leading off the ninth for his first multi-home run game of the season and 13th of his career.

Diamondbacks' Koch tries to extend Rockies' home skid to six
DENVER -- Matt Koch, a godsend to the Arizona Diamondbacks' rotation, will start Saturday and try to help them clinch their weekend series against the Colorado Rockies.

The Diamondbacks pounded the Rockies 9-4 on Friday night, hitting three homers in the third inning against German Marquez and sending the Rockies to their sixth loss in eight games. The Rockies (32-31) have lost five consecutive home games, allowing seven or more runs in each game. Their record at Coors Field is 11-17.

Diamondbacks' Jake Lamb: Hits solo shot Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Lamb went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Friday in the Diamondbacks' 9-4 win over the Rockies.

Lamb has reached base in each of his last six starts and is slashing a commendable .316/.435/.632 over that span. The third baseman still has major limitations against left-handed pitching, but he should make for a quality lineup option in all formats when the Diamondbacks face off against righty-heavy rotations in a given week.

Diamondbacks' Daniel Descalso: Continues RBI streak
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Descalso went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in the Diamondbacks' 9-4 win over the Rockies on Friday.

Descalso has now plated at least one run in six consecutive starts and has amassed four extra-base hits over that stretch. The Diamondbacks have kept Descalso on the bench in their last 10 games against southpaw starters, but the 31-year-old looks like he might be locked into a prime run-producing spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitching while his bat remains hot. He has batted cleanup for Arizona the past two contests.

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Scores twice Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Marte went 1-for-4 with a double, walk and two runs Friday in the Diamondbacks' 9-4 win over the Rockies.

The power production is beginning to tick up steadily for Marte, whose two-bagger in the series opener was his 10th extra-base hit in as many games. The hot-hitting Daniel Descalso has made a case for regular playing time at second base against right-handed pitching, but Marte's ability to play the other middle-infield spot should continue to create a path for him in the lineup. Nick Ahmed, who is hitting .200 over his last 15 games, hit the bench Friday to make room for Marte at shortstop.

Diamondbacks' Jeff Mathis: Delivers triple Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Mathis went 1-for-3 with an RBI triple, a walk and a run Friday in the Diamondbacks' 9-4 win over the Rockies.

It was just the seventh triple in 2,547 career plate appearances for the catcher, who has never been known for his fleet feet. Mathis will continue to serve as the regular batterymate for Zack Greinke, but his light hitting won't earn him many further starts beyond those occasions.
