98 consecutive innings and counting without being behind, 12 wins in a row, clinch season series against Dodgers and Rodney gets a save in LA. Nice.

...and Greinke is earning his keep.

it's insane that we've won 12 games in a row, the Dodgers have lost 11/12 of we're STILL 11 games back.

What a streak!! Regardless of what happens in the future, this season has been hella fun.
I agree! It's already a memorable season for me. Everything else is gravy.

That's the most pessimistic take one could possibly have. The story there is that LA had a 28 game lead at one point and now between them failing and us streaking, we are now within 11! Epic collapse combined with an epic run. The story is NOT; boo we're still down 11 how pathetic.

Hermann in his interview with Jackson said it skimmed off his left arm/shoulder and that's why Gandall missed the ball. I didn't look like it hit him at all, Grandal just never say it coming.

They never said that. Several times, they did say that JD had more HRs than the Dodgers had hits.
They did say what you quoted several times. Then Steve said several more times that it was the first time in history that one player had more HR's in a game than the opposing team had hits.

I've watched every inning of the two D-backs-Dodger games so far and heard every time Steve said it. I understood his intention (4 HR's vs. less team hits), but the overall generalization was wrong.

The radio guys were suggesting ways to shed salary to afford JD and one mentioned trading AJ. No way you can take away an elite CF and expect to be the same team.
I like AJ as our CF but, except for being a very good fielder, he does not excel in anything. He does not hit consistently for high average. He is not a power hitter or RBI guy. He is not an outstanding baserunner. And Pollock is not feared in a do-or-die situation at the plate.

Most of all, he does not protect Goldy in the lineup, which is invaluable. JD does. If it came down to AJ or JD, it is a no-brainer. Look at the D-backs unbelievable streak and how Goldy got hot since JD got here following him in the batting order. And how JD stepped up (to record proportions) when Goldy was out.

We can replace AJ, especially with his history of injuries and time missed. We cannot replace JD and expect to be the hottest team in baseball. Except for Goldy, there is no hitter on the team more crucial than JD if we expect to stay above mediocrity now that we've reached it. And he wants to be here.

For the record, look at JD Martinez' stats for the year.

..TEAM......GAMES...HITS...HR...RBI...SLUG%...OPS
DETROIT.......57........61....16....39......630.....1.018
ARIZONA......41........38....18....40......678.....1.011

TOTAL..........98........99....34....79......650.....1.015

And AJ Pollock's.

ARIZONA......91........93.....9.....32......454.......782

Granted, Pollock spent most of his AB's as a #1 or #2 hitter, but that is what he is. Not the #3 hitter he has been used at recently. And certainly not the choice over JD Martinez as a middle of the lineup hitter.

I don't even want to think about JDM right now. If this team stays hot they could run the table.

Actually, AJ does excel from a defensive perspective, as well as base-running... However, that may still not be enough to stick with him if it meant not being able to sign JD. If AJ has to go, they better have a body who is pretty damn close defensively to AJ...
